Finally getting around to updating the birth certificate question. So far all the lawsuits challenging barry's actual birthplace - Kenya or Hawaii - have been dismissed. Decision: No citizen can challenge whether a candidate for president is constitutionally eligible to become president. It's up to Congress. See here, here and here for background.
Philip Berg from Philadelphia is still pressing for discovery on a list of questions. Howard Dean and the DNC have been fighting the lawsuit with barry, who has been reluctant to answer the questions. Why? Berg is also challenging whether barry surrendered his citizenship in Indonesia to be able to go to school there. No dual citizenship at the time. If he did, it would technically make him ineligible. So as it stands, the Supreme Court ruled discovery (which the judge did not allow in the original suit) is necessary before the Court can proceed with the appeal. This means barry has to answer the questions and deliver them to the court by December 1st. Berg gets to see them but I don't know if they are allowed to be made public. Guess we'll find out Monday.
As far as Hawaii - KITV/AP released a statement on October 31st by Director of Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino. Note: Berg had filed an appeal with the US Supreme Court the day before (October 30th.) He had filed an injunction to stay the election, which obviously was denied.
Fukino said she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obama's original birth certificate.Funkin also said there were no irregularities by state officials concerning his birth certificate. She doesn't comment whether the family requested any changes or what exactly is on the birth certificate. Why didn't he release the original and be done with it? Why the need for factcheck.org - which is affiliated with NEWSWEEK, the pro-barry propaganda newsletter?
"Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai'i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai'i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama's original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures."
