Face language: Sen Clinton & Susan Rice

December 1, 2008

I am glad the camera wasn't on barry the whole time. Very interesting dynamics going on when he was introducing Sen Clinton. In the background is Susan Rice one of barry's most virulent soldiers in the war on Hillary. Well-known for rants and repeated misrepresenting Sen Clinton's plans on Iraq (and barry's). She really has to work on the tone of her voice. It's ANGRY. And no way that is going over in the middle east or anywhere else.

For the record, Rice was hoping (planning) on becoming Secretary of State and now she has to work with Sen Clinton. Watch at (3:40) when barry says: "and a tough campaign opponent". Rice smirks and blinks her eyes twice and then holds them closed for a second trying to blot out the bad memories.

"...who will clearly have the ability to advance our interests around the world." Rice blinks, her mouth twitches and she looks away. (She wanted that job bad.) She looks back at Clinton.

"Hillary's appointment is a sign to friend and foe of the seriousness of my commitment" Smirk, micronod and more blinks "to renew American diplomacy and restore our alliances". Two hard swallows like ok that's that.

Her blinks are like Morse Code with the longer blinks signifying when she wants to SCREAM. It seems she was disappointed she couldn't get anything out of Clinton's face. But hers was a combination of anger, envy and outright hate. Though she has a much better poker face than barry.

As for Sen Clinton, it was hard to get a clue. I don't think I've quite ever seen this face. There was her little smile when he said "tough campaign opponent" but then she was in full control of her face except for her eyes that kept saying different things. Of all the moments, I would like to know what was going on in her superior mind because I couldn't see it on her face. She is going to be one helluva negotiator. A game face is more important than a non-shrill voice. Watching it over I get the sense of sadness - like she should be standing where he is. There also has to be an element of sadness of letting go of her senate seat. I don't know how she has found a way to trust him...he can fire her on day one.
