Susan Boyle rocks Britain’s Got Talent!
By mattie14April 17, 2009
Time for something uplifting and simply beautiful.
Susan Boyle (self-proclaimed never been kissed 47 y/o) from Blackburn, Scotland went on stage at Britain’s Got Talent - their American Idol of sorts with no age limits or restrictions to just music - stood tall and sang her heart out. The audience was snickering at her because of her unglamorous appearance and she stood there and took it. She said prior to going out there that she was going to “rock the audience” and she did.
Paul Potts was their last sensation (he sang Nessun Dorma) but he was already a trained opera singer and had performed in several operas professionally. His video has been disabled also - just click on it and it’ll take you to You Tube.
Boyle is a completely raw talent. She said she made a promise to her dying mother that she would try it. Her mother must be very proud.
My favorite part was when she strode out there and then strode off without getting comments from the judges, like she was there to perform and she did. God love the audience. Her video has gotten over 20 million hits but cannot be embedded.
She reminds me of Andrea Bocelli - how they both stand there and simply deliver their gift. I would love to hear them together. She certainly could do justice to The Prayer.
This is from her appearance on The Early Show. Just as lovely but without the audience rocking. Here’s the BGT You Tube clip with the lyrics. Here’s her BGT post-show interview.
Judges apologize. Not Simon Cowell, who is looking to cash in on her.
Broadway legend and Tony Award winner Patti LuPone, who first sang “I Dreamed A Dream” in 1985, in London’s West End. She said Boyle’s performance brought her to tears. Watch Ms Boyle’s reaction.
