Ms Boyle set to perform tonite in Glasgow

Updated: Susan Boyle posts/videos/interviews

June 15, 2009

Well, AP is reporting as recently as 3 hours ago that Ms Boyle will return to the stage tonite in Glasgow. I certainly hope for her sake that her “day of rest” has reinvigorated her so she can give her countrymen what they have been waiting for. How could she “flub some lines” from songs she knows so well and has been singing so frequently? I don’t understand why she is doing this tour at all. Is she legally obligated? Because she doesn’t need the tour to get her career going. More days of rest are just going to fuel more crazy rumors and in the long run affect attendance at her own live shows – provided she has any.

I truly hope that Ms Boyle does indeed have her physician traveling with her and that said physician has only her patient’s best interest at heart. One can’t help but wonder who is actually calling the shots and whether there are too many – however well-intentioned – folks involved. Just think how thrilled she would have been six months ago to be on stage in Glasgow and recall how totally excited she was at her audition there in April. I wonder if the absolute joy of Susan Boyle 1.0 will ever return.

Spokeswoman from earlier today:

“[Ms Boyle]had one rest day, but she will be back on stage tonight,” she said, adding that she expected Boyle to take part in the rest of the tour, which runs until early July.

Why the need to add she is expected to take part in the rest of the tour? So folks buy their tickets? The message yesterday was “following three sensational performances, Susan Boyle has been advised to rest”. What are the chances she will be in need of rest after the next three?

The fallout from yesterday’s missed performance as per the UK Telegraph. Fans in the audience were given the message: “[Ms Boyle] sends her sincere apologies to her fans for not appearing in Manchester.” And then the Britain’s Got More Talent folks played a Susan Boyle video clip highlight reel, which of course was met with boos. And then the audience was offered refunds if they chose not to stay and watch the show.

Pretty clear why that extra little sentence was added. So how are they not still using her to promote BGT…the Tour?

And how did the actual winners – Diversity and the other performers feel when the audience was offered refunds?

How is BGT treating the folks whose futures are actually riding on the BGT Tour? And how is Ms Boyle’s uncertainty and the attention it garners affecting their performances and the joy they should be experiencing?

AP reporter's take on Taitz's exchange with Justice Roberts

March 15, 2009

Chief Justice John Roberts was in Idaho Friday (13th) to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the University of Idaho School of Law and he gave a speech about Abraham Lincoln. Afterward, Orly Taitz hand delivered her documents to Chief Justice John Roberts - through the hands of the Secret Service of course. Here is her version of events and below is an AP reporter's view. Take note of his tone.

Haven't found a You Tube or news video.

From the Seattle Post-Intelligencer NICHOLAS K. GERANIOS:

Chief Justice John Roberts discussed the legal prowess of President Lincoln during a university lecture Friday and fended off an audience member who advanced the widely discredited theory that Barack Obama was not legally qualified to be president.

Widely discredited? By whom?

At one point during the audience question period, Orly Taitz, a woman from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., said she had documents proving that President Obama was not born in the United States and thus could not be president. While audience members laughed, she said she had half a million signatures of people demanding the Supreme Court hear the matter.

"A woman"? Guess he doesn't know she is a lawyer and a dentist - just some lady.

Roberts cut her off by saying that if she had documents with her, she should give them to security officers. He also said he could not discuss the issue.

And then he throws this in as if it means something. He doesn't name the case or the judge.

Earlier this month, a federal judge in Washington, D.C., threw out a lawsuit questioning Obama's citizenship, branding the case a waste of the court's time.

I sure would love to see the video. Taitz said students and teachers came up to her afterward to ask why they could do.

Drew Peterson appealing disposition of Savio estate

March 12, 2009

Drew Peterson’s lawyer, Joel Brodsky filed an appeal to the Illinois Supreme Court challenging the lower court’s ruling that Peterson’s murdered third wife, Kathleen Savio’s estate should be in the hands of her father and sister.

As if he has a chance of winning it since he happens to be the only suspect in her murder. One would think he would shut up and go away. By the time it reaches the Court he may have already been arrested for her murder.

barry's visual effect on the stock market

March 8, 2009

barry likened the stock market "gyrations" to daily tracking polls - what he uses to decide what to say.

3-3-09 AP: President Barack Obama is comparing the stock market to the daily tracking polls used during campaigns, saying that paying too close attention to Wall Street's "fits and starts" could lead to bad long-term policy.

Obama spoke to reporters Tuesday after meeting in the Oval Office with visiting British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Obama said he is not measuring policies against "the day-to-day gyrations of the stock market," but by whether lending is flowing more freely, businesses are investing and the unemployed are going back to work.

"Hope" poster artist arrested

February 7, 2009

Shepard Fairey, barry's "Hope" poster artist was arrested (again) on outstanding warrants for his street graffiti - what he was known for before barry. That isn't the real story. The real story is that he based his poster on a 2006 picture of barry taken by AP's Mannie Garcia. I'm not sure when this became an issue because Fairey has evidently never denied it. Probably came to a head after the TIME magazine "Person of the Year" cover. AP wants credit and compensation for copyright infringement vs Fairey claiming fair use. When you look at the images side by side it seems all he did was scan and colorize it. The interesting part of the poster is the background - which is Fairey's work - but most people don't see it unless they're looking for it. Without Garcia's picture - that exact pix with that exact facial expression - there would be no poster. It's kind of like taking a writer's essay or a poem and then using synonyms. I wonder whose photo he used for the TIME cover.

Captain Sullenberger: Today Show vs 60 Minutes

January 25, 2009

Lori and "Sully" Sullenberger (DAILY NEWS)

Captain Sullenberger was to appear on The Today Show with Matt Lauer. This press release the reason he did not.

Instead, Katie Couric will be interviewing them on 60 Minutes to be aired on Feb 8th. (Super Bowl Feb 1st.)

AP'S DAVID BAUDER:

Sullenbergers' media adviser, Alex Clemens of the communications firm Barbary Coast Consulting, confirmed the "60 Minutes" interview but said he would have no other comment.

The Today Show was not pleased and has no intention of interviewing him now. There are folks swearing they won't watch it now because Katie Couric is interviewing him. Madness.

NBC Spokeswoman MEGAN KOPF: What Captain Sullenberger did in the cockpit on Flight 1549 was heroic and admirable. Unfortunately, people close to him have not acted nearly as admirably over the past few days. They gave us their word, and then broke their commitment. We wish Captain Sullenberger the best.

Right. Captain Sullenberger and his crew are less newsworthy on a second interview? The flight crew's actions are less heroic and the lives of the 150 passengers less important because it's a different channel? They ever hear of You Tube?

How much did the decision have to do with an iconic legitimate prime time news show vs morning talk show? NBC vs CBS? Or Matt Lauer vs Katie Couric?

When are they going to realize it's not about them and all they are doing is diminishing what was an amazing feat of experience, skill, judgment and execution that saved 155 (and perhaps many more) lives?

Dr unknowingly treats dying father

January 16, 2009

It can't be much worse than this. A physician treating a badly beaten man in the ICU at The Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu didn't recognize him to be her own 54 y/o father. The last time she had seen him was July 2008. His injuries proved fatal. She didn't discover it was her father until the next day when her brother told her.

Just say no to scalping!

Just say no to scalping!
By mattie14

January 15, 2009

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) sponsored a bill that would make scalping tickets to the Inauguration a federal crime. It passed by voice vote on 1-13. Whether the House passes it before the Inauguration is another matter. What if they have already sold their tickets? It's ok because there's no law? The majority of scalping has already taken place and selling counterfeit tickets to anything is already a crime.

Fine print: Exception is barry's official Inauguration Committee. Can foreigners buy the tickets?

UPDATE Madoff victim: Thierry de la Villehuchet, apparent suicide

December 23, 2008

Source CNN

Thierry de la Villehuchet, a hedge fund adviser who lost $1.5 billion in Bernard Madoff's ponzi scheme was found dead in his office from an apparent suicide. Unidentified pills were found but he had used a box cutter to slice his arm, wrist and biceps area. No suicide note. Does money matter this much to people? How can an investor not know he's out $1.5B? How many more deaths will arise from Madoff's evil greed? Hollywood couldn't have made up his name. How can noone not know the money was missing and why is he allowed to live in his posh apartment? How many people have lost everything because of him. I don't understand such greed and lack of a conscience.

UPDATE via AP:

On Monday (12-22), he reportedly told the cleaning crew to be out of his office by 7pm because he was going to work late. The following morning he was found dead seated at his desk in his locked office. He had what appeared to be self-inflicted lacerations on his arm from a box cutter and there was a garbage can nearby to catch the blood. The autopsy was done today but the coroner is awaiting toxicology results before he signs off on the caused of death - sleeping pills were found on the desk. This to me means he hadn't bled out. If he lacerates an artery a garbage can isn't going to catch the arterial spurting. It seems like a strangely passive suicide for a man. Is there an historic method for French Aristocrats? Him telling the crew to get lost is an indicator of him not wanting to be interrupted. Have there been cases of texted suicide notes? The case of the teenager who was allowed to die from an intentional overdose while bloggers looked on and egged him on is depravity at its worst.

blagojevich still at work - grants 22 pardons

December 19, 2008

Gov Blagojevich is still at work and 22 folks got a special Christmas gift: clemency. He has been criticized for his slowness in granting pardons, but he pardoned 19 in July and 26 in October. And in September, Illinois passed a law to allows exonerees to bypass the governor and apply directly to the court in which they were convicted. Gov Ryan put a moratorium on the death penalty and commuted the sentences of all 167 men on death row to life right before he left office. He was hoping for a Bush pardon. Who knows, of blago plays his cards right, barry just might extend him one. Maybe that's part of the negotiations.

AP: BLAGOJEVICH: I am pleased to restore the rights of citizenship to these individuals. After looking at each one of these cases, it was clear that this was the right thing to do.

Joe the Sellout

December 10, 2008

Turns out he's just like any other person seeking their 15 seconds of shame. Joe the Plumber thinks it's ok to come out and trash Sen John McCain. This makes me very angry. Besides the fact that Sen McCain is a war hero - which no one can even begin to understand unless they were held captive and beaten and made a selfless choice to remain with his fellow Americans - and without Sen McCain he would not be criticizing him and making money off him. How much in taxes will he pay on his get rich scheme? He's just trying to make people buy his book. And he's trying to set himself up with Palin's wing of the Party.

He's supposedly pissed about Sen McCain's reasoning for the bailout. As if Sen McCain had much of a choice in that situation. He was chatting up misogynist Glenn Beck, who received not a single sanction for his cowardly comments about Sen Clinton: Does she shave? "It" cried. Seems Joe the Sellout is in good company.

JOHN SEWER, AP

Joe: I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.

Then why in the hell didn't he? FAME and MONEY. He sold his soul - his words are meaningless. Here's the truth:

...he didn't say exactly what set him off, hinting that would be in his book that is due out this month. He said the only reason he didn't get off the McCain bandwagon was "because the thought of Barack Obama becoming president scares me even more."

And here's his motivation. Another cliche: infatuation.

He had only praise for her, calling Palin the real deal. "It disgusts me on how often they try to bash her just for her sincerity. She really wants to work for America.

And he's feeling the fading glow of the spotlight and wants more.

Didn't his music deal go through?

Quote of the day: "He's out there like he's talking to his wife in bed."

December 9, 2008

AP's SHARON COHEN via (freep.com)

Chicago political strategist DON ROSE:
It's about greed. He's got to be completely off his rocker to be talking like that at a time when he knows the feds are looking at him. ... He's out there like he's talking to his wife in bed.

I think this is beyond ordinary sanity. We're talking about something clinical here. This is beyond logic. It's beyond greed as we know it.

I consider myself a student of corruption, but I've never heard of this kind of thing going on. The way he's talking about it is lunacy. ... 'Maybe they'll make me secretary of health and human services.' Who's going to hire this guy?
Paul Green, a political scientist at Roosevelt University:
If you're under so much scrutiny by an unbelievably dedicated U.S. attorney's office, why would you risk it all? This is a case less about politics and more about social psychology. ... A hard-nosed Illinois politician wouldn't even dream of doing this, considering the situation.

[Blagojevich] had everything going for him. He could have been the Serbian Obama. He was young, handsome, articulate.
Young, yes? Handsome and articulate? "F**k you!"

Famous last words: Blagojevich
