Did they crash the Inauguration, too?

November 26, 2009

Source: Reliable Sources AMY ARGETSINGER & ROXANNE ROBERTS

The State Dinner crashers, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, may have been doing this for a while.

In addition to their incriminating State Dinner photos, there are two other interesting photos.

Here they are inside the glass-enclosed presidential viewing box from the Inaugural concert at the Lincoln Memorial.

Their caption:

Tareq & Michaele were honored to be invited to President Obamas private viewing box at the Lincoln Memorial. Naturally this picture was taken after his departure. Sitting in the correct order of exactly were President Obama & First Lady were seated. The glass is not only bullet proof, but also electrified. Never try to touch this special protective glass.

And poor Oprah got roped in as well.

Here they are Kennedy Center. It sure doesn’t look photoshopped.

Their caption:

Tareq, Michaele & OPRAH backstage at the Kennedy Center after the Oprah TV Special Show. The Hottest ticket in town for the Inauguration, without a doubt.

The kicker?

Michaele was being filmed by a Bravo production crew during the 8 hours it took for her to get ready. The stylist asked her where the invitation was:

She starts rummaging through her purse, and then said, ‘It must be out in the car’.

The crew also tried to follow them in but were stopped.

How could they have not stuck out?

Maybe that was the point.

They’re expected to be on Larry King Monday night.

State Dinner crashers?

November 26, 2009

Other photos: Inauguration, Kennedy Center with Oprah

Updated

This is truly hard to believe. An uninvited couple got past the Secret Service and crashed the State Dinner.

Worse – the SS didn’t even realize it until the couple posted photos on Facebook (below).

The Washington Post evidently saw the posted photos and emailed the couple to ask why they weren’t on the official guest list, which was released just hours before the event. Mr Salahi mentioned the America’s Polo Cup World Championships coming up June 2010. When pushed, he said “it was last-minute attending.”

No account of how the SS discovered it. The Post doesn’t say they contacted them.

Update: Washington Post’s “Reliable Sources” gossip columnist ROXANNE ROBERTS recognized the crashers immediately and knew they didn’t fit in but she didn’t take it one step further. Who would? Getting past Secret Service should theoretically be impossible, especially at a State Dinner. Those two strolled right in the front door.

[CNN Video of the crashers being announced and strolling past reporters. Ms Roberts reports.]

TAREQ & MICHAELE SALAHI with Rahm Emanuel (they labeled him “Ron”)

Probabaly the only photo of VP Biden from the event.

Accompanying the photos:

Honored to be at the White House for the state dinner in honor of India with President Obama and our First Lady!

The Washington Post describes the couple as:

polo-playing socialites known for a bitter family feud over a Fauquier County winery and their possible roles in the forthcoming “The Real Housewives of Washington”.

Aka seeking publicity like balloon boy – except this could land them in jail. They had to lie to someone to get in because their names weren’t on the list.

Unclear how they got on the grounds but they strolled right in the front door of the WH (announced by a Marine), mingled in the lower lobby with folks around the red carpet, made their way up to the East Room for cocktails and then moseyed on out to the tent. They were never seated in the tent but they were in the same room as FLOTUS, POTUS and Prime Minister Singh. Unknown if any of them had direct contact.

And get this – there is no checkpoint to exit the WH grounds.

The crashers documented their own crime:

Michaele posed with: VP Biden, Katie Couric, Rep Ed Royce (R-CA) and the Marines posted at the door.

Both posed with: VP Joe Biden, Rahm Emanuel, Robin Roberts, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty and his wife, Michelle, Bollywood composer AR Rahman and PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.

Secret Service Agent ED DONOVAN said in a statement that their:

Office of Professional Responsibility will be conducting a comprehensive review of the incident.

And that their preliminary investigation identified:

a Secret Service checkpoint which did not follow proper procedure to ensure these two individuals were on the invited guest list.

He also made sure to include:

Everyone who enters the White House grounds goes through magnetometers and several other levels of screenings. That was the case with the state dinner last night. No one was under any risk or threat.

And if they were assassins they wouldn’t need anything but their hands.

Even though the SS is admitting the security breach, the spokeswoman for the crashers, Mahogany Jones was nonplussed:

The Salahis were honored to be a part of such a prestigious event…. They both had a wonderful time.

And that they had:

full clearance to attend the state dinner.

As of this writing, the crashers have not made a statement themselves.

The WH is conducting their own review.

Who do you think will be fired?

Michelle’s Social Secretary who is supposed to be standing there vetting folks?

Or one of her other two dozen attendants?

Or will some poor Marine get blamed?

Update: shoe thrower

Some reactions to the shoe thrower's act of extreme bravery. One wonders how bad his writing is if he had to resort to hurling shoes to be heard. Evidently in 2005 the shoe thrower was kidnapped, held for three days and released without ransom. He attributed it to al Qaeda. Then last year he was mistakenly arrested by US forces and then released after an apology. Hard to believe it was a spontaneous expression of freedom.

According to CNN's JOMANA KARADSHEH, Dhirgham al-Zaidi, the brother of the shoe thrower said U.S. security stopped Iraqis from hitting the reporter, but then alleged he was beaten once he was taken into custody and sustained a broken arm and ribs. His brother made the allegations without seeing or talking to his brother. CNN said they cannot "independently confirm the allegations or determine if the alleged injuries came as a result of the initial scuffle or while al-Zaidi was later in custody."

The brother said he was "shocked" when he saw his brother hurling his shoes at President Bush but that he is "proud" of his brother whose act, while rash, was a statement of behalf of "millions" of other Iraqis.

And that his brother's actions were "spontaneous" and represented millions of Iraqis who want to "humiliate the tyrant."

That the shoe throwing was "Iraq's reaction" to the war and years of U.S. sanctions against Iraq before the conflict began and not motivated for personal reasons, or because he has "anything against the American people".

He described his brothers hatred for the "material American occupation" and the "moral Iranian occupation".

Wonder what he's done to insult the Iranian leaders? And what would have happened if he had?

Shoe thrower's employer, Egypt-based Al-Baghdadia TV:

al-Zaidi should be freed "in accordance with democracy and freedom of expression Iraqis were promised by the new era and American authorities."

He wrote a letter to Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki asking to be pardoned.

Muntadhar al-Zeidi:

It is too late to now regret the big and ugly act that I perpetrated. So I ask for your pardon.

Interesting way to ask for a pardon - no regret. It's not clear what, if anything, he will be charged. Pardons can be granted by Iraq's president if recommended by al-Maliki.

***
Shoe thrower the toast of the Arab world!

Iranian cleric, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati proclaimed at Friday prayers at Tehran University:

The shoe intifada in Iraq should not be overlooked easily. Well done to the Iraqi journalist for throwing the shoes at the U.S. president.

The shoe hurling by the Iraqi journalist had many messages which the world received and the Iraqi people, too, held demonstrations afterwards. People should support the Iraqi journalist.

He then said the shoes are "more valuable than crowns, medals and signs" and believes they should be place in an Iraqi museum.

***
According to New York Times' TIMOTHY WILLIAMS & ABEER MOHAMMED, shoe thrower's brother said it was a spontaneous act, but co-worker Saif al-Deen, 25, said al-Zeidi had been planning some sort of protest against Bush for nearly a year.

DEEN: 'I remember at the end of 2007, 'he told me, 'You will see how I will take revenge on the criminal Bush in my personal way about the crimes that he has committed against innocent Iraqi people.'

Wonder what has been done to Deen and how quickly he realized he was mistaken.

In Lebanon, reactions varied by political affiliation, but curiosity about the episode was universal.

In Saudi Arabia, a newspaper reported that a man had offered $10 million to buy just one of what has almost certainly become the world's most famous pair of black dress shoes.

A daughter of the Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi reportedly awarded the shoe thrower, Muntadhar al-Zeidi, a 28-year-old journalist, a medal of courage.

In Syria, al-Zeidi's picture was shown all day long on the state television network, with Syrians calling in to share their admiration for his gesture and his bravery. In central Damascus, a huge banner hung over a street, reading: ''Oh, heroic journalist, thank you so much for what you have done.''

***

Here's my favorite story. From Reuters: MOHAMED ABDELLAH & JONATHAN WRIGHT. Egyptian Saad Gumaa called the shoe thrower's brother and offered his 20 y/o daughter for marriage.

GUMAA: I find nothing more valuable than my daughter to offer to him, and I am prepared to provide her with everything needed for marriage.

Ain't that swell. Twelve camels and an assortment of figs and dates? It gets weirder. The daughter, who is a university student, liked the idea. One has to wonder how a daughter so anxious to be auctioned off got to 20 without being so.

AMAL SAAD GUMAA: This is something that would honor me. I would like to live in Iraq, especially if I were attached to this hero.

Attached? As in conjugal visits? At least his daughter was of legal age and able to make a fully informed decision to wed.

Iraqi reporter throws shoes at President Bush

December 14, 2008

According to CNN:

Pres Bush was on an unannounced visit to the Green Zone to celebrate the conclusion of the security pact, called the Strategic Framework Agreement and the Status of Forces Agreement.

The pact will replace a U.N. mandate for the U.S. presence in Iraq that expires at the end of this year. The agreement, reached after months of negotiations, sets June 30, 2009, as the deadline for U.S. combat troops to withdraw from all Iraqi cities and towns. The date for all U.S. troops to leave Iraq is December 31, 2011.

The Iraqi man, identified as Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, an Iraqi- owned station based in Cairo, Egypt got up and whipped one shoe and then the other, screaming:

This is a gift from the Iraqis, this is a farewell kiss, you dog! This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq.

It was not a lob toss or simply a statement - it was meant to injure. Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who knew what the man meant with the shoes, wasn't exactly helpful. Throwing shoes (or even pointing the soles) at someone is a Muslim insult. Honestly. What isn't? Those ever-present men in the streets must be cheering. And the Arab women who gave birth to and/or are pregnant by them?

video courtesy of b6ran2222

Have to say Bush handled it very well. He didn't hide behind the podium after the first shoe. I can't see barry handling something like that. The hope is, of course, that he won't have to. And I don't foresee him making many trips to any combat zones - surprise or otherwise. Something similar to his world tour, yes.

Bush talking over the car horn moans of the shoe thrower in the next room.

BUSH: Everybody calm down. First of all [muffled - uuaw], thank you [WAH!] for apologizing on behalf [WAH!] of the Iraqi people. [WAH!] It doesn't bother me. [WAH!] And [WAH!] if you want some [WAH!] - if you want the facts: [silence] it was a size 10 show he threw at me.

The reporters then asked him about the incident.

BUSH: So what if the guy threw his shoe at me? Let me talk about the guy throwing his shoe. It's one way to gain attention. It's like going to a political rally and having people yell at you. It's like driving down the street and having people not gesturing with all five fingers.

I don't know what the guy's cause is. But one thing is for certain. He caused you to ask me a question about it. I didn't feel the least bit threatened by it.

Where was the Secret Service? Nobody even got to him before the second one had landed. The irony of it all. Security pact celebration with a real, potentially lethal attack on the POTUS.

And what's the next big video on CNN? barry buying a Christmas tree. Says it all.

Dear Pro-Obama media members:

When applying for a high level government job, doesn't one have to include ones transcripts?

Barry's admitted cocaine use disqualifies him from the FBI, CIA and Secret Service - and yet he is going to be in command of them.

Why don't you find this alarming?

And when your obamerism wears off - whose fault will it be?

Think: Iraq

Dear Pro-Obama media members:

Did you ever ask the Secret Service whether barry was really in the pew?

Sensationalized "assassination plot"

October 28, 2008
I find this "assassination plot" to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. And the way it has been sensationalized goes beyond irresponsible. "Two Neo-Nazi Skinheads Plan To Assassinate Obama Disrupted By ATF". How many other whack jobs (besides Gov Palin) are going to be copycats so they can be mentioned on CNN? These two idiots were as likely to get near Obama as I am and I live in Chicago. It was overblown to draw attention from the effigy of Gov Palin being lynched and John McCain being burned alive. Period. I could not find a single article on MSNBC about it.

These two country boys who reportedly met online month ago, one of whom didn't graduate high school and lives in a poor, rural area of Tennessee plotting to kill Obama? Absolute madness. The meth heads in Denver had proximity if nothing else. These supposed assassins said they were planning to kill exactly 88 people - and beheading exactly 14 more - then go on a killing spree which would culminate in a drive by assassination of obama all the while wearing white tuxes and tophats. What kind of moonshine are they drinking down there? The Secret Service I mean. Is there more to this? How much investigating went into the "kill him" comment by DAVID SINGLETON? Has he been brought up on charges of failing to report a threat on a "major presidential candidate"? Making a false claim? Anything? It's not worth checking.

"They were stockpiling weapons." ATF seized a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and three handguns. How many did they already own as kids living in rural America? How were they planning on beheading people? Swiss army knives? The were so intent on causing mayhem that they shot at a church when no one was in it. I didn't see anywhere why they were caught - just that they were arrested.

Here's "The Official Water Carrier of Barack Obama" Ben Smith's version. Even for him it's laughable.
The Palin effigy was crude, but it's breathtaking to compare that with indictments in a mass murder and assassination plot...The ATF's filings in that case are now online, and describe the skinheads as quite scary and dangerous, but much closer to their mass murder plans than to the presidential candidate.
Mass murder plans thwarted by a dog and a major candidate for VP's effigy continues to hang from a tree with her hands behind her back as an "art" exhibit protected by free speech. ATF filing: (emphasis added)
The Criminal Complaint charges Cowart and Schlesselman with the illegal possession of a sawed off shotgun, conspiracy to rob a federal firearms licensee, and making threats against a major candidate for the office of president.
According to the complaint, approximately one month ago, Cowart and Schlesselman met via the internet through a mutual friend and both claim to have very strong beliefs regarding “White Power” and “Skinhead” philosophy. Cowart and Schlesselman began discussing going on a “killing spree.” The complaint further alleges that Cowart and Schlesselman discussed robbing a gun shop (federal firearms licensee) in order to gather weapons and ammunition. The complaint notes the defendants were in possession of a sawed off shotgun.
On Oct. 20, 2008, Cowart allegedly traveled from Tennessee to Arkansas to pick up Schlesselman in order to carry out their plan. The complaint states that at this time, the defendants further discussed their killing spree to include targeting a predominately African American school and to continue their spree until their final act of violence, which would be to attempt to assassinate Presidential Candidate Barack Obama.

“The U.S. Secret Service takes all threats against presidential candidates seriously and is actively investigating the allegations,” said Richard Harlow, Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service-Memphis Field Office. “The Secret Service does not comment on this type of investigation.”

The complaint further notes that the defendants stated that they would be willing to die during this attempt. According to the complaint, after soliciting a friend to drive their car between 11 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2008, and 2 a.m. on Oct. 22, 2008, the defendants made plans to rob a house, but were diverted when they arrived and observed a dog and two cars at the location. Cowart and Schlesselman then dropped Stafford back off at her residence and then went to a local retail store and allegedly purchased nylon rope and two ski masks.

The defendants were arrested on Oct. 22, 2008, by the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office. “Once we arrested the defendants and suspected they had violated federal law, we immediately contacted federal authorities,” said Sheriff Troy Klyce of Crockett County. “The Sheriff’s Department is committed to keeping Crockett County a safe place for all of our citizens.”
I do not want to make light of any of this. But as Smith says 'breathtaking to compare that with indictments in a mass murder and assassination plot & quite scary and dangerous"? So much so they spontaneously decide to rob a house and got scared away by a dog. But Politico readers will take him at his word - much the same they ran with the unsubstantiated "Kill him" and Gov Palin's "faked pregnancy". They can make fifty posts a day over there but they can't use their toes to count.

According to the UK Times. The article's sensational title: "Two Neo-Nazi Skinheads Plan To Assassinate Obama Disrupted By ATF". The weapons seized were stolen from family members. "On the exterior of Cowart's car were racially motivated words and symbols, including, on its hood, a swastika and the numbers "14" and "88"." How exactly were they going to make quick getaways and get anywhere near obama with that type of car with or without the white tuxes? Ok. I'm done with this.

Obama response to "assassination plot"

Obama's response to alleged plot. From AFP. AP pix Chester, PA.
dont-scan-peace.JPG"I think what's been striking about this campaign is the degree to which these kind of hate groups have been marginalized. That's not who America is. That's not what our future is," Democrat Obama told Pennsylvania television station KDKA late Monday.

"What I've found is that people here, they don't care what color you are. What they're trying to figure out is who can deliver," he said.

Asked if he was concerned about his safety, Obama said no.

"I've got the best folks in the world -- the Secret Service," he said.

"Kill him" allegation fiction?

October 16, 2008

It appears the pro-obama media bias has struck again in the most disgusting way possible. As if Rep Lewis' comments on 10-11-08 weren't enough. The "Kill him" comment has yet to be corroborated and that fact has not been discussed in the post-debate McCain-is-an-angry-old-man breakdown is just more proof they don't care and want the misinformation to be left dangling. As if it would matter now. The debate audience isn't listening and what they heard was frightening.

At the Scranton Palin rally (10-14), DAVID SINGLETON, a reporter for The Times Tribune Scranton, was the only one who heard it. He estimated the crowd at 4500, so if it was heard - it would have to have been heard by more than one person. And the odds of that one person being a reporter? Here's a quote from his article titled: Palin rallies Scranton voters; crowd member calls to 'kill' Obama." (Note how he takes "Kill him" and translates it to "kill Obama".)
"However, someone did shout out, "Kill him!" during Republican congressional candidate Chris Hackett's remarks before Mrs. Palin took the stage."
This of course set off the proobama propaganda machine - even though no one but SINGLETON heard it and the video embedded in his story does not show it. Herr Olbermann was more than happy to indulge several hours later on Countdown as the video shows.

And The Viewbots were off and running--Joy Behar screaming about attacks while attacking Elisabeth Hasselback. I'm sure all the rest of the MSM ran with it too - a statement from a local newspaper taken as gospel - not that they have investigated anything themselves, but they are certain Obama is a great man and Ayers and ACORN and Rezko and Wright...are no big deal

DAVID SINGLETON (10-15) wrote a follow-up article referring to him in the third person:
"The (Secret Service) agency followed up on a report in The Times-Tribune that a member of the crowd shouted, "Kill him!" after one mention of Mr. Obama's name during a rally Tuesday for Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.
And today, Donna Brazile sounded off on CNN.com:
"Yes, racism still exists in America. Its disgusting and insidious presence is evidenced every time some rabid partisan screams "Kill him!" or "Terrorist!" when Obama's name is mentioned at McCain-Palin rallies."
See what happens? And which candidate is it helping and who is it hurting? Aways the same thing: race. Why not? It's worked every time he needed it - except for the dollar bills - the one and only time he admitted to it (after the three customary denials).

Here's an article written by a journalist with integrity, ANDREW M.SEDER (aseder@timesleader.com). I wonder what kind of flak he's getting from bot control. From the timesleader.com: Secret Service says "Kill him" allegation unfounded:
"The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, [Scranton Times-Tribune] appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Obama's name a man in the audience shouted "kill him."
SINGLETON was interviewed by the Secret Service and said he never saw the man and, as expected, the paper's editor stood behind the story. Not surprising since the paper endorsed Obama on 4-13-08.
"Agent Bill Slavoski said he was in the audience, along with an undisclosed number of additional secret service agents and other law enforcement officers and not one heard the comment."

"I was baffled," he said after reading the report in Wednesday's Times-Tribune.

Slavoski said more than 20 non-security agents were interviewed Wednesday, from news media to ordinary citizens in attendance at the rally for the Republican vice presidential candidate held at the Riverfront Sports Complex. He said Singleton was the only one to say he heard someone yell "kill him."

"We have yet to find someone to back up the story," Slavoski said. "We had people all over and we have yet to find anyone who said they heard it."

Slavoski said the agents take such threats or comments seriously and immediately opened an investigation but after due diligence "as far as we're concerned it's closed unless someone comes forward." He urged anyone with knowledge of the alleged incident to call him at 346-5781. "We'll run at all leads," he said.
It defies the laws of physics that only one person heard it. And it defies reality that that one person would be a reporter. And why did he scurry home to break the story instead of immediately notifying a policeman or SS agent? Reeks of botism. Because of the previous rally comments and Rep John Lewis' statements, the crowd had to be teeming with Secret Service and law enforcement. Does a citizen have a responsibility to report an alleged threat to a presidential candidate? The SS will be all over this, because if it's true (not at all likely), they failed in their duty. And what happens if it's a false allegation? How can that bell be unrung? And if/when this dude finally comes clean is he going to be terrorized in the press like "Joe the Plumber" or hushed up like the alleged Palin email hacker, David Kernell, son of state Rep. Michael Kernell (D-TN)?

UPDATE today (10-16) in the Times Tribune Scranton by the "Staff writers"
"Mr. Singleton said the remark came from his right, amid booing that followed Mr. Hackett's mention of Mr. Obama.

"(I) very distinctly heard, 'Kill him!' Male voice," he said. "It was definitely back in the back."

Mr. Singleton said other people were in the bleachers he was behind and in similar orange bleachers to the right.

He moved toward the area where he thought the remark came from to see if the person who said it would repeat it. That didn't happen, and he was unable to identify the speaker, he said.

"I didn't hear anything else at that point," he said.

The bleachers were at least 50 feet away from a camera riser and tables where other local and national reporters and photographers were stationed. As Mr. Hackett spoke, national reporters who follow Mrs. Palin around had not arrived. Their seats were on the side of the camera riser closest to Mr. Singleton.
So that's the excuse? The national reporters didn't write about it because they weren't there yet? And what about all the people in the bleachers? How is Governor Palin supposed to hear something that no one but SINGLETON heard? He was concerned enough to look but not enough to ask what they heard or tell the Secret Service? It defies logic. What kind of reporter would pass that opportunity up in light of the last two weeks? He is either "mistaken" or heard someone utter a threat to presidential nominee and did nothing but write about it. Not good either way.

RANT of the day: "Kill him"

October 16, 2008
Third (and final) Debate

Barry mentions the alleged comments: "terrorist" & "kill him" in the debate but the chant of "kill him" had not been substantiated by anyone - including the Secret Service agents in attendance. But barry told the whole nation that it happened. Barry: "In which all the public reports indicated (aka nothing was confirmed) were shouting when my name came up things like: 'terrorist' and 'kill him'. How can you say that to 60 million people or whatever when it has not officially been vetted? It can never be unsaid. It's just a variation on the race card. barry's campaign can't get any scummier. For mentioning Ayers - a very real concern except to the probarry propaganda outlets - McCain was compared to George Wallace and Birmingham bomb of the church that killed four young girls. How more vile does it get? Even a man who served our country, without being drafted and held hostage for 5 years, can be called a racist. It's absolutely disgusting and beyond irresponsible.
October 11, 2008
Rep Lewis: "George Wallace never threw a bomb. He never fired a gun, but he created the climate and the conditions that encouraged vicious attacks against innocent Americans who were simply trying to exercise their constitutional rights. Because of this atmosphere of hate, four little girls were killed on Sunday morning when a church was bombed in Birmingham, Alabama."
Do y0u know that Condelezza Rice actually knew the girls?

And Joy Behar repeated the same thing on The View yesterday...that someone had yelled: "Kill him." and Gov Palin said nothing. What can she say if nothing was ever said? How many people watch The View? And what else would the media write? They're in a full court press to hide Ayers, Obama's fundraising, his birth certificate, ACORN, what the Mrs and Rev Jesse Jackson Sr said and who knows when Wright is going to bust free. Only Rezko is safe until after the election, though Blagojevich is getting in on the barry bashing...before he joins Ryan up in Oxford.

I can't wait till this election is over. It's a fraud. Imagine if barry loses? McCain can never "win" just like SHRC couldn't. It will be because the racists won't vote for barry. Anyone else tired of this crap? barry has yet to set the black community straight on "The Clintons". That's another rant...
