Black Caucus: “We shall remember this”

February 26, 2009

[reposting - Burris posts just disappeared for some reason]

Chicago City Council members believe the calls for Sen Burris to resign are racially motivated. Dick Durbin used the same thing to get barry elected do he shouldn’t be surprised when it continues. Rep Bobby Rush brought that up the same press conference Burris was appointed. He must have known Burris had made some calls.

Ald Carrie Austin: To just muck up somebody's 30-plus year record of loyalty to the Democratic Party — for all of them to turn turn on him — we say it’s time for this to stop. And if it does not, we shall remember this, at the next election.

Ald. Freddrenna Lyle (6th), city chairman of the Cook County Democratic Party, said the “anti-Blagojevich hatred” has unfairly been transferred onto Burris.

I would just suggest to those people who seek to run in the wards of the city of Chicago where there are people of color living that they should tone it down because some of us are taking notes. They will run at their peril.

I can't go to the residents of my ward and ask them to vote for someone who, they feel, has disrespected them. And they won't. Remember, we just don't vote for people. It is in our history in modern times when we voted against people. In fact, it's usually easier to get people to do that.

Identity politics are alive and well and not at all hidden. Why is it ok for blacks but when whiteys do it it's racism? Race relations will ever change until race baiting and racial threats stop and it doesn’t appear that will be happening any time soon. What was good for the president is good for anyone else. Guess that’s what he meant by post racial - no need to mince words.

And Blago is banking on the fact that they shall never forget who appointed Burris.

Sen Dick Durbin on Sen Burris (WGN Radio)

March 2, 2009

Sen Dick Durbin talked to the Tribune’s Rick Pearson on WGN 720 about Senator Burris.

chi-090301pearson-durbin-mp3,0,6065247.mp3file

Durbin discusses the process of what happened. Burris had actually called him a week after the election saying that folks were telling him he take barry’s place. Durbin said to him he’s been out of politics for 12 years and that things had changed. He initially thought Burris was talking about 2010 and then it dawned on him that Burris meant via a Blago appointment. He said (3 times) it would be a terrible idea because his enitre politcal and public career would be in the shadow of blago. Durbin told him don’t do it and clearly Burris did it. He talked with Burris again after all this went down and Burris came back and said he wasn’t going to resign.

Not going to resign + can’t legally get rid of him (from present available evidence) = stays in the Senate = more snubbing by barry and barry’s compatriots = barry’s new old Washington politics.

Dick Durbin:

My colleague from Illinois, Congressman Bobby Rush, made strong statements along those (racial) lines. They were painful and hurtful, and it became part of this calculation.

And later:

[Burris'] vote still counts, his signature is still necessary for critical appointments. I will be working with him whenever there’s the need for both Illinois senators to be involved in projects. I’m going to try to work with him as well as I can.

Interview with new barry replacement appointee, Roland Burris

December 30, 2008

NBC 5 News Chicago = Roland Burris interview with Alex Perez.

PEREZ: Do you understand the controversy behind your appointment?

BURRIS: I separate it. The governor has his problem. I understand it. Perhaps he has some serious problems. That has nothing to do with Roland Burris. I have no problem with going to US Senate and doing a job for the people - not only of Illinois - right now the nations needs someone with Roland Burris' talent and skills.

PEREZ: Sen Dick Durbin already said that all 50 senators have said that they would not seat the appointment made by Governor Blagojevich. When you hear that...what do you say?

BURRIS: I will say to them - and I think they better check the law -that what the governor has done is constitutional [smile]and legal. I respect the president [elect] but he does not have the authority.[smile]

PEREZ: What about the allegations against Blagojevich? You can't ignore them.

BURRIS: I can ignore them. Why not? They don't impact me. He has to get whatever is coming to him from the court of law and not from...public opinion.

PEREZ: So how hard is it going to make your job if walking into it says we don't want you Mr Burris?

BURRIS: That's their problem. [Smiling] That's not my problem.

Haha. Why not? He's gets a lot of publicity and has nothing to lose. I wonder what he thinks about barry and the fact that barry never paid his dues while taking credit for legislation he did not work for - Ricky Hendon's videotaped interrogation law comes to mind. And I wonder how Burris felt about barry throwing Revs Wright and Jackson under the bus. And Bobby Rush has never exactly been a fan of barry's.

Burris is a veteran politician who knows how to play the angles and still look like sweet grandpops. Not so for Emil Jones, who was still in hot rod's corner last week. I wonder if he still is behind him now that Burris got the appointment...

blago annouces Burris as barry's replacement (video)

December 30, 2008

Milorad sticks it to barry and everybody else. Pure genius. they weren't expecting it. Even better, barry's nemesis - the only one who has ever beat him - Bobby Rush came in and played the race card using the word "lynch". A little over the top but Rush and ex Black Panther has used race from day one and makes no apologies for it. His supporters expect no less and he clearly got his message across. He said barry went to Harvard and became an educated fool who only read about the Civil Rights movement. Have to give it to him on that. First time he was challenged in Iowa about Iraq he yelled at the lady that he had "studied it".

Unless Burris has some nefarious connections he cannot be unappointed. It's legal. Period.

Part 1

PaulFVillarreal2

BLAGO: He will be a great United States senator. Please don't let the allegations against me taint this good and honest man.

I am required to make this appointment. If I don't make this appointment, then the people of Illinois will be deprived of their appropriate voice and vote in the United States Senate.

Part 2

Roland Burris is taking questions and someone wants blago to answer it - he steps forward and mentions how much he has been "enjoying the limelight" but that it's Burris' day.

"Obama went to Harvard and became an educated fool"

December 12, 2008
Hardball

Rep Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) commenting on whether she was truly considered by Blagojevich. She asked him point blank on November 18th and he said yes. She feels she wasn’t really because:

He never asked me for anything. The conversation didn’t even approach that. Of course, I would never done a quid pro quo [Daley Machine translation = pay to play] of the kind that he was thinking about."

…the kind he was thinking about. Not never - just not his grand delusions. But then again...she was never asked, was she?

Matthews then asked if Blagojevich's wife being in the deal was normal and she said absolutely inappropriate. Then he asked if personal contributions were out of the ordinary? Do you believe this? He thinks some types of pay-to-play are acceptable. Well, they are mandatory to break into Chicago politics. Barry is loyal to Daley. He turns on him and he’s the one going down. Why he's a Soxfan and why he backed the ever-colorful Dorothy Tillman.

Wake up, folks. Do a little research now that the obamerism is wearing off. Look at what barry did to get elected. Why did his opponent, Jack Ryan's divorce records get unsealed just in time for barry to win basically unopposed in his US senate race? The Court ruled they should be unsealed and five days later barry went public and said they shouldn't be used.

Any of this sound familiar? Look what he did in his previous campaigns. The only one he couldn’t finagle was Rep Bobby Rush, former Black Panther member and well-loved Chicagoan. At that point, barry wasn’t considered “black enough” and he "talked too white". Rush 61% barry 30%. Couldn't use the race card either. Explains the spanking. Pres Clinton endorsed Rush, which I'm sure added to barry's lack of character in dealing with him because he was "busy".

Two insightful comments from Rep Rush before it became sacrilegious to tell the truth about barry.

RUSH: Barack Obama went to Harvard and became an educated fool. Barack is a person who read about the civil-rights protests and thinks he knows all about it.

Love that quote. Truth - a rarity. On barry's failed run. CAPS added.

RUSH: He was blinded by his ambition. Obama has never suffered from a lack of believing that he can accomplish whatever it is he decides to try. OBAMA BELIEVES IN OBAMA. And, frankly, that has its good side but it also has its negative side.

barry's own thoughts on having his "rear end handed to him". The Audacity of Hope:

It was a race in which everything that could go wrong did go wrong, in which my own mistakes were compounded by tragedy and farce.

Less than halfway into the campaign, I knew in my bones that I was going to lose. Each morning from that point forward I awoke with a vague sense of dread, realizing that I would have to spend the day smiling and shaking hands and pretending that everything was going according to plan.

RUSH: I'm a race politician and he's not. I don't compromise. I don't step back. I don't try to deny it. I'm proud to be African American.

And what did barry do? He paid Rush back by running to Hawaii to avoid voting on Rush's gun legislation, which was prompted by the random shooting death of Rush's son. Lost by 5 votes. And then there is his DC Handgun ban flipflop. Watch how he brags on his background in constitutional law.

courtesy of popularhypocrisy (apt)

So why the selective memory as pertains "natural born" citizen? He has known all along he is technically not a "natural born" citizen. He admits on his own website that he is a "native citizen of the United States of America".

How does that make you feel about the self-proclaimed man of judgment, integrity and integrity?

Open your eyes, find a piece of paper, take out pen, pencil or other writing utensil and check off each of barry's missed votes, presents, I pushed the wrong buttons, I didn't know the vote was coming (Iran guard) and massive list flip flops and find one where he actually stood up for something with direct consequences to himself.

I'll save a tree: there aren't any. But you'll have a clear look at barry's REAL political career of political expedient obamanation -- not the proobamedia made-for-TV movie obamessiah version.

It's all there. And the fact that the proobamedia has been shocked by Blagojevich proves (once again) the pro-Obama media bias. They have never once looked at him with a jaundiced eye and some of them are deflecting/directing their anger at barry. It’s their own fault.

Richard Wolffe, Herr Olbermann, Norah O’Donnell and David Gergen are starting to get peeved. Waa-waa-waa instead of O-baaa-ma. Jonjon Alter will never give up the ship. Jake Tapper has been woken up it appears. I haven’t been watching CNN, but I imagine Candy Crowley has dug in like she did with Wright, NAFTA, Rezko and other issues. She's the only the one and only media member on CNN to not be completely corrupted - and how was she rewarded? Convention floor duty, traveling and video feeds from the primary results. Not exactly a great use of her award-winning reporting. I can recall her being on the CNN panel only once - at the end - when there was nowhere else they could rightfully send her.

Now what about Contessa Brewer, Tamron Hall, Norah O’Donnell, Kyra Phillips, Olbermann's fraternal twin, Rachel Maddow and newly self-appointed sexist and misogyny czar, Alma Campbell Brown. No Bias, No Bull? New program after barry won the election and yet the pro-Obama media bias continues. Check out the home page - three big pictures of her. Why not wallpaper it?

Look at Ms Crowley credentials and ask yourself why she doesn't have her own show. And was Andrea Mitchell offered Meet the Press?

Yo, Alma - where are your No Bias, No Bull BS thoughts on that?

Reid: three hoops for Burris

January 8, 2009

harry reid sure is patronizing. And an egomaniac who has something to prove. Must must have grown up poor or lacking and is trying to show he's just as good if not better than the people he thinks he rules. What is Nanci Pelosi's job? He is not going to like having a Columbia-Harvard "articulate" president looking down on him - especially if he some race issues. Not wanting Emil Jones or Jesse Jackson, jr cannot be entirely explained by race. Plenty of reasons supersede skin color.

So he had his photo op with Mr Burris and Dick Durbin. Had his lieutenant stand behind him while he presided and then he spoke. It was shocking. He sounded like a guy talking in a bar. He didn't even have the common respect for a fellow democrat (who has not been indicted on anything) to address him by his first name or title - just "Blagojevich". He has a personal vendetta. Perfectly clear. Maybe those conversations happened and maybe he did say some "racially insensitive" things. It would explain his blago venom. I bet he holds a mean grudge.

Excuses and concessions:

Jesse White's signature absolute necessity - rule has never been circumvented.

Testify before the impeachment committee.

And then he threw it back to Lisa Madigan just like barry would have. Illinois Supreme Court to rule on whether Jesse White's signature can be circumvented.

Jesse White is just keeping his word. Didn't expect blago to call their bluff. Never saw it coming. Noe of them did.

Clears all three - he can be reconsidered. But then Senate can refuse to seat him:

Article 1, Section 5 of the U.S. Constitution: "Each house shall be the judge of the elections, returns and qualifications of its own members.

I had no idea all these things were included in The Constitution. Anyway it will never happen.

How can a secretary of state veto a governor who has been found guilty of nothing?

Wasn't President Clinton signing and appointing during his impeachment proceedings?

And then there's race. Bobby Rush has never shied away from it.
