Octuplets: Nadya gets her TV deal

April 15, 2009

(4-14) Octuplets: Updated list of posts

Surprise. But she insists it is not a reality TV show. Doesn’t matter what she says - she lied. Everyone on the planet knows she has to finance those children and everyone knew she was going to do a TV show - so why lie? Especially when she is vilified enough?

She spoke with Life & Style Magazine:

Yes, it is official. I’m going to be doing a show, but it’s not a reality show. What I’m doing with this TV show is basically creating documentaries about the lives of my children. It’s going to be an ongoing thing, and it will follow them from now until they are 18. It’s being done by Eyeworks; they’re in the UK. It will air in the UK and then we’ll see if the US is interested.

The producers will come here to film six times a year. They’ll come by and take some footage and then they’ll go. They won’t be invading my life or my children’s lives.

They will be 6 times a year and if strapped for cash maybe more. And why the separation between her life and her children’s lives? She is still detached from it all.

It will give me the opportunity to have incredible home movies that, believe me, I don’t have the time to make myself. Having this documentary crew allows me to focus on raising my children and still have great movies of them.

Of course if you want more - buy the magazine.

From Reuters:

But Eyeworks Chief Executive Officer Reinout Oerlemans said in a statement on Wednesday that the company was still in “exclusive negotiations” with Suleman for “an unscripted format following the life of Nadya and her children.”

“Nadya’s story is a very unique and exciting one that needs to be told in the right manner,” Oerlemans said. “We are confident that we are the right party to tell their story around the world.”

How long before Medi-Cal puts a lien on her earnings? And what about the grandmother? Is she getting kicked out of her house?

2009 International Woman of Courage: Reem Al Numery, Yemen

2009 International Women of Courage Awardees

From the State Department website

Date: 03/16/2009 Description: 2009 International Woman of Courage: Reem Al Numery State Dept Photo

Reem Al Numery, Yemen
I thought of ways to set fire to my wedding dress.”

In June 2008, at the start of her school vacation, 12-year-old Reem Al Numery was forced to marry her 30-year-old cousin.

“While my hair was styled for the ceremony, I thought of ways to set fire to my wedding dress,” Reem told Embassy officials in an interview. “When I protested, my dad gagged me and tied me up. After the wedding, I tried to kill myself twice.”

Reem is part of a recent cadre of young Yemeni girls who have defied their families and threats of violence to stand up for their rights. The legal age of consent for girls to marry in Yemen was recently raised to 17, but a combination of tradition and widespread poverty ensure that younger girls are often forced into matrimony in order to relieve economic pressure on their families. Customary practice dictates that the girls’ grooms wait until their bride is post-pubescent to consummate the marriage. [Why get married then?] This was not the case for Reem. She described to BBC reporters how her husband raped her: when she resisted sex, he choked and bit her and dragged her by the hair, overwhelming her by force.

The activism of Yemeni pre-teens sold into wedlock began with Nujood Al Ahdel, another courageous child, who, at the age of ten, walked out of her forced marriage and successfully initiated divorce proceedings. Her inspiring story focused international attention on the plight of child brides.

Reem Al Numery shares the same lawyer and same circumstances with Nujood Al Ahdel, but faces additional obstacles. Reem’s father will not consent to her divorce, leading the judge to decree that, because she is a minor, she must remain married until she can make her own decisions at age 15. Reem’s lawyer is appealing the verdict, and Reem is currently living with her mother.

Since she is still legally married and since Yemeni law has no provisions for sexual abuse charges within a marriage, this 12-year-old is still at the mercy of her husband and her father. “My dad said he’ll kill me for defying him,” Reem told reporters in August 2008, “but I want to go back to school.”

“She told me that she wants to live a normal life, like any other girl her age, and I am afraid that is not possible yet,” Reem’s lawyer told the Yemen Times. “Sometimes she just wants to play and enjoy life like a young girl, and other times she is talking about things like a mature woman who has been married for long. This marriage experience has made her neither a girl nor a woman.”

Yemeni judges, hesitant to grant divorces to pre-teens, have been exposed to international pressure by the cases brought by Al Ahdel and other girls. The personal bravery of Reem Al Numery expands that focus to more complex and difficult cases of enduring paternal complicity, and challenges the Yemeni legal system to put an unequivocal end to this crime that robs girls of their childhood.

***

She is married - sold basically to her cousin. The age of consent is 17 and yet she is 12. And even though she is married - she is a minor and unable to make decisions until age 15. So by the judge’s own decree she has never had legal consent to anything - marriage and rape included.

No provisions in Yemeni law for marital rape - says it all.

How can these arab savages expect the West to take them seriously?

barry's proclamation re: Women's History Month

March 6, 2009

WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH

With passion and courage, women have taught us that when we band together to advocate for our highest ideals, we can advance our common well-being and strengthen the fabric of our Nation. Each year during Women's History Month, we remember and celebrate women from all walks of life who have shaped this great Nation. This year, in accordance with the theme, "Women Taking the Lead to Save our Planet," we pay particular tribute to the efforts of women in preserving and protecting the environment for present and future generations.

Ellen Swallow Richards is known to have been the first woman in the United States to be accepted at a scientific school. She graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1873 and went on to become a prominent chemist. In 1887, she conducted a survey of water quality in Massachusetts. This study, the first of its kind in America, led to the Nation's first state water-quality standards.

Women have also taken the lead throughout our history in preserving our natural environment. In 1900, Maria Sanford led the Minnesota Federation of Women's Groups in their efforts to protect forestland near the Mississippi River, which eventually became the Chippewa National Forest, the first Congressionally mandated national forest. Marjory Stoneman Douglas dedicated her life to protecting and restoring the Florida Everglades. Her book, The Everglades: Rivers of Grass, published in 1947, led to the preservation of the Everglades as a National Park. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1993.

Rachel Carson brought even greater attention to the environment by exposing the dangers of certain pesticides to the environment and to human health. Her landmark 1962 book, Silent Spring, was fiercely criticized for its unconventional perspective. As early as 1963,however, President Kennedy acknowledged its importance andappointed a panel to investigate the book's findings. Silent Spring has emerged as a seminal work in environmental studies. Carson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously in 1980.

Grace Thorpe, another leading environmental advocate, also connected environmental protection with human well-being by emphasizing the vulnerability of certain populations to environmental hazards. In 1992, she launched a successful campaign to organize Native Americans to oppose the storage of nuclear waste on their reservations, which she said contradicted Native American principles of stewardship of the earth. She also proposed that America invest in alternative energy sources such as hydroelectricity, solar power, and wind power.

These women helped protect our environment and our people while challenging the status quo and breaking social barriers. Their achievements inspired generations of American women and men not only to save our planet, but also to overcome obstacles and pursue their interests and talents. They join a long and proud history of American women leaders, and this month we honor the contributions of all women to our Nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim March 2009 as Women's History Month. I call upon all our citizens to observe this month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities that honor the history, accomplishments, and contributions of American women.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this third day of March, in the year of our Lord two thousand nine, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-third.

BARACK OBAMA

Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Award Recipients

March 6, 2009

Anyone know that it's Women's History Month? Or that there is an International Women's Day? Or an International Women of Courage Award that "recognizes the courage and leadership shown as they struggle for social justice and human rights."

Here are this year's recipients.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Department of State announces the recipients of the third annual Secretary of State’s Award for International Women of Courage. This is the only award within the Department of State that pays tribute to outstanding women leaders worldwide. It recognizes the courage and leadership shown as they struggle for social justice and human rights.
This year, the Secretary of State will pay tribute to honorees representing Afghanistan, Guatemala, Iraq, Malaysia, Niger, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Yemen. They are among over 80 exceptional women nominated by U.S. Embassies worldwide for their extraordinary work in advancing human rights.
The women will be in Washington from March 8 – 12 for a program of meetings with government officials, NGOs and the media. The Office of International Visitors is partnering with the Office of International Women’s Issues on this project.

The 2009 recipients of the Secretary of State’s International Women of Courage Awards are:

Ms. Wazhma Frogh (Afghanistan)
Wazhma Frogh is the Afghanistan Country Director for the NGO Global Rights and a dynamic leader in the fight against domestic violence, marital and child rape, and sexual abuse in Afghanistan.

Ms. Norma Cruz (Guatemala)
Norma Cruz is on the forefront of women who are fighting on behalf of victims of violence and sexual abuse. As director of the NGO Survivors Foundation, Ms. Cruz combats the widespread impunity that too often accompanies the endemic violence against women in Guatemala.

Ms. Suaad Allami (Iraq)
A prominent lawyer, Suaad Allami fights against the erosion of women's rights and defends the most disadvantaged. She founded the NGO Women for Progress and the Sadr City Women's Center, which offers free medical care, literacy education, vocational training, and legislative advocacy. She has accepted a Humphrey Fellowship from the State Department for academic year 2009-2010.

Ms. Ambiga Sreenevasan (Malaysia)
An accomplished lawyer who became President of the Malaysian Bar Council, Ambiga Sreenevasan masterfully uses the rule of law to advance human rights, the status of women, and religious tolerance. In the face of death threats and intimidation, Ms. Ambiga has emerged as a strong voice of tolerance and justice.

Ms. Hadizatou Mani (Niger)
Sold to a "master" at the age of 12 for the equivalent of $500, Hadizatou Mani persevered in gaining her freedom and helped pave the way for others trapped in similar circumstances to seek justice. Through her valiant efforts, persistence, and refusal to succumb to social pressure to abandon her case, she won a historic, precedent-setting decision in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Court of Justice that condemned her enslavement.

Ms. Veronika Marchenko (Russia)
Veronika Marchenko is the head of the NGO Mother’s Right, and has demonstrated exceptional bravery and leadership in exposing the truth surrounding the disturbing peacetime deaths within the Russian armed forces. Ms. Marchenko has successfully sought justice on behalf of bereaved families of servicemen who died as a result of cruel and inhumane conditions.

Ms. Mutabar Tadjibayeva (Uzbekistan)
Imprisoned for criticizing her government's handling of events surrounding the 2005 violence in the city of Andijon, Mutabar Tadjibayeva refuses to be silenced. She has returned to human rights advocacy, and remains a fearless critic of human rights abuses.

Ms. Reem Al Numery (Yemen)
When she was 12, Reem Al Numery had her childhood cut short when she was forced to marry her 30-year -old cousin. She has emerged as a strong and brave voice on behalf of other girls facing a similar fate. Her courage has inspired a widespread drive against child marriages in Yemen.

Octuplets: Body language mother vs grandmother video

February 26, 2009

Finally found the radaronline video of the grandmother and daughter having at each other. As fas as the body language, you have to take into account the generational differences and cultural nuances, but the interaction between the two of them is pretty straightforward. They are seated at an angle from one another. The grandmother is more facing forward then toward her daughter. She won’t maintain eye contact and prefers to keep her head down and turned away but when she does look up her chin is up in a distinctly European gesture that I please wish someone would translate literally.

It is not a discussion or even a conversation. It’s a back and forth like you’d see with two first graders. Parry - thrust. Loud - quiet. Talking over the other person to drown out the truth. There is never an even exchange or even an attempt at such and it ends right where it started - the mother stuck in her delusion and the grandmother capitulating.

It will never be resolved - can never be resolved. Delusional madness met by denial always is.

The grandmother is exhausted and depressed and just wants to live in peace. There is a reason why she only had one child herself.

And the grandfather said to Oprah that his daughter is “not mentally complete” and then asked would Oprah be able to get his daughter a mental evaluation.

Why hasn’t Kaiser Permanente or Child Protective service demanded one? Her madness is on display daily for all to see. One need not be a psychiatrist to see that she is devoid of maternal instinct and completely divorced from the reality that awaits her once those octuplets enter the fray.

When they get to the point where other options are discussed - the grandmother doesn’t quite understand what an embryo is and the birther asks who would adopt an embryo. She had no idea such a possibility existed because it never existed in her brain. All this after - if what the birther says is true - 36 embryos were implanted.

And what about the kids?

How many times have they heard about wanting more children and about neglecting the children already born?

How does it make them feel, especially the oldest ones who have heard it for years?

These are the only maternal caregivers these children have. The only ones they are receiving love from. How much love and true affection in way of a maternal bond do you see between these two? Look at how little they are actually able to communicate. Birther talks over her mother and repeats the same thing like a 5 y/o would and then when she doesn’t win she giggles.

What is funny about any of this?

This is what the children have to mimic. How much SCREAMING do you think goes on in that house? And if they are this contentious in front of perfect strangers - they knew they were being videotaped and that the video would be placed online forevermore - what goes on at home in front of the children? And what about when the grandfather has had a cocktail or two?

The daughter is more open with her body language - she still doesn’t think anything she did was wrong and clearly will never be convinced. Toward the end of the confrontation she shows some measure of guilt (after the grandmother mentions her not taking into consideration the 6 children), when she describes what would be done to the embryos had she not chosen to implant them. Thing is she chose to have that many embryos manufactured and either she wasn’t told or didn’t want to hear that the embryos could in fact be donated to couples who haven’t been able to produce their own viable embryos. She admits straight out that it was her intent to use every single one of those embryos - no matter how many children they resulted in. She tried to catch herself but it was too late.

How much more pathology has to be displayed by this woman before someone intervenes?

Her admission makes clear that she did not care about the children themselves - she cared about having them - not caring for them. One would think that after she had one child with a neurological disability she would have stopped. And most definitely by the time three of them were diagnosed. She should have thought about their lives and their futures and not the potential of frozen embryos. And the more she keeps bringing that up, the more she proves that she was after collecting children for her own sake - not wanting to be a mother and caring for the ones she had already given life to.

It really is so very very sad and each day it gets worse.

She is not sitting fully on the chair on the side toward her mother and can put her hand down on the chair as her boundary - she also covers her genital region with the other hand. The grandmother is sitting in a very closed position with her hands on her lap and fingers tightly intertwined, which she always returns to. She’s heard it all before and is set in her view. She has her right shoulder up and is leaning away, her head tilted in disgust. She rarely looks at her daughter full on. I don’t know if they chose this sitting arrangement or the producers put them there. There is a couch in the background that they could have easily sat together on.

Most notable is the daughter’s affect. Does she look anything like a mother who is about to take 8 premature infants home to a 3-bedroom house that may not be there in 3 months and already contains 6 kids under seven - three of them neurologically disabled? Does she look like someone who understands she has 14 mouths to feed and 14 bodies to wash and dress?

I find her extremely detached and adolescent. She speaks the words of a parent but shows absolutely no emotion. The lives she felt so connected to as frozen embryos she refers to as things:

that are growing. That are related to you. That are healthy, strong and almost all four pounds.”

And her affect doesn’t change at all when she talks about them. No look of concern of what pain they might be experiencing at that moment, or what she might be missing, or reference to what they’re doing that moment. Over and over she mentioned the fate of the frozen embryos but never once reflected on what she did to the ones already in existence. Not a single personal reference to any of her children. Just the abstract: frozen embryos, embryos, cells, lives, humans, human beings, “that” and “the babies”. Not a single “my child” or “your grandchildren”.

By her own words and affect you can see she is detached from the octuplets.

She is disrespectful to her mother - gesturing, talking over and interrupting her and invading her space.

How much patience do you think she has listening to her children if she disrespects like this the person who is providing care and shelter for them?

How much patience does she display in just this 2:58 conversation with an adult who isn’t hungry or tired or unable to communicate because of a neurological disability?

And when the autistic child wets his bed for the second time in one night?

When the octuplets are up around the clock?

When the grandmother finally says she’s had enough?

When the oldest girl says she wants to play with her dolls instead of watching her siblings?

The grandmother leans in and looks directly at her daughter when she feels she can make a point, but she always retreats. Compare the beginning and at the end - the grandmother is in the exact same position. At one point she puts out both of her hands in a sort of I want to shake you or choke you motion. In the end she just resigns herself to whatever happens making clear how this was allowed to continue happening.

Without a home and someone supporting her financially and caring for her children, how would the daughter have been able to have more children? She would have kept trying, most likely, but she would not have had the means.

Her mother may have said no more but she did nothing to actively prevent her from having more.

It's sad.

Tragic, really.

Eight innocent lives could each be given a fair shot while bringing joy and hope to eight families and beyond. And six other could have their childness saved.

The mother and the grandmother are similarly complicit in this heinous crime, as is the grandfather, who admitted out loud that his daughter is not mentally complete and yet he allowed her to bring more lives into this world. These are the three adults the children have to mimic.

Conversation was already underway..

ANGELA: When you already have six beautiful children.

NADYA: You need to learn to let go.

ANGELA: How could you do this?

NADYA: You need to learn - you need to learn to let go.

ANGELA: So, I will never understand.

NADYA: You never will. And I will never understand your inflexibility and your inability…

ANGELA: Inflexibility?

[Does she not care for those children?]

NADYA: Yes. To be able to accept and let go. Learn to let go.

ANGELA: Yes.

NADYA: But that’s the biggest challenge I had.

[Biggest challenge?]

ANGELA: But If I could totally let go, these are my grandchildren, I would. But you know its very difficult-

NADYA: No-no-no. Not now.

ANGELA: And you have 8 more.

NADYA: Excuse me. Not now. You need to learn to let go of what I chose to do. You didn’t accept it and move forward.

ANGELA: Right. I’m-

NADYA: Stop stagnating on…

ANGELA: I’m not…

NADYA:…and being fixated.

ANGELA: …at that, uhm…

NADYA: Place. You’re not at that place, yet.

ANGELA: No. I’m not.

NADYA: I planned on one growing - at the most two. So if that that had happened, what’s the difference, cuz this is all unintentional?

[Listen to that again. She said what's the difference. What's the difference between one and two and 8? Where are the psychiatrists? And that it was unintentional? It was as intentional as it gets. One or two more when you have six children and the person supporting you has filed for bankruptcy and has stopped paying the mortgage is one or two too many. You put six embryos into a uterus that has already produced 6 the most recent pregnancy twins you better expect to have six. She doesn't even grasp that even one more was wrong - whether they were frozen or not.]

ANGELA: But did you read about the statitstics?

NADYA: The statistics. This doesn’t happen. That doesn’t happen. this never ever happened.

[She says never and then admits she knew it had happened at least once - so she knew the possibility existed.]

ANGELA: Well, something.

NADYA: One person it happened to.

ANGELA SULEMAN: Something, something was [laughs] happening there.

Nadya makes a face and sighs. Shows absolutely no grasp of the gravity of the situation.

ANGELA: Because you know in the first place…

NADYA: OK.

ANGELA: You should have considered your other six children.

NADYA: OK. But I was still going to use - not going to destroy the embryos. Period. Done. Done. Done. It’s already done.

[She just said she was going to use all the embryos - not that she didn't want them to be destroyed. Right there is all that is needed. Her own words tell you who she was thinking of - herself. Her goal was to use them all - not to use them so they wouldn't be destroyed.]

ANGELA: But they are frozen embryos.

NADYA: You can’t go back and ring a bell. You can’t go back and ring a bell. You can’t go back and alter the past.

ANGELA: No, no, no. You’re talking now.,.

NADYA: They’re humans.

ANGELA: …that whatever you did

NADYA: They’re human beings…

ANGELA:..is is the past…

NADYA: …that are growing. That are related to you. That are healthy, strong and almost all four pounds.

ANGELA: They are frozen. That’s the difference.

NADYA: (Mocking) They’re frozen right now?

[Is this a comment an adult in her situation would be making? Is there anything in this exchange that if you didn't know would hint at the absolute gravity of her decisions? Turn the sound off and watch. Better yet, if you know someone who isn't aware of the story - have them watch with the sound off and have them try to guess their relationship and what the conversation is about. And then watch their face when you tell them what it was about. That is the look the mother should have on her face. ]

ANGELA: They were frozen. And you did not have to do anything.

NADYA: They were lives.

ANGELA: And if you wanted to…

NADYA: The only thing…

ANGELA: Yes, they were lives.

NADYA: …you can do with frozen embryos…

ANGELA: But they were frozen.

NADYA: …is use them or destroy them. You either use them or destroy them.

ANGELA: But you decided…

NADYA: You use them or destroy them.

ANGELA: Yes…

NADYA: You use them or destroy them.

NADYA: Do you know want to know how they destroy them?

ANGELA: No, no, no. Hold on.

NADYA: They allow them to live. They allow the cells to live…

ANGELA: Let me finish.

NADYA:…and they kill them.

ANGELA: Let me finish.

NADYA (like a child): No, I won’t!

ANGELA: You had another option.

Nadya bends over and laughs.

ANGELA: You didn’t have to have them destroyed.

NADYA: Ok. What did I have?

ANGELA: You didn’t have to have them.

NADYA: The other option is?

ANGELA: Given them up for adoption. There are so many, so many couples who would love-

NADYA: [She makes a face like it never entered her mind.] Give up the embryos for adoption?

ANGELA: Have them thawed, whatever they do, and have them adopted when they are, uh…

NADYA: [Mocking] Hmm, interesting.

ANGELA: …little humans.

NADYA: Who would do that?

ANGELA: Who would do that?

NADYA: Yeah. How could–I wouldn’t personally do that.

ANGELA: When you have already six.

NADYA: I couldn’t imagine…

ANGELA: Someone who thinks clearly.

NADYA: Yeah. I couldn’t fathom my own children out in the world — you have mentioned this to me a long time ago that you would never have been able to do that, knowing, for the rest of your life, that you’re gonna have your own children out in the world and you’d never know them. How could-I couldn’t personally do it and I would never judge anyone else.

ANGELA: Well, I don’t remember saying this, however…

NADYA: Ok, so when you saw the babies and you started to hold them, you were telling me that you have let go of my choice, you didn’t agree with it, and now you’re acknowledging the fact that they’re here already, and looking at you, and they’re breathing without any assistance.

ANGELA: Yes [laughs] and I felt sorry for them.

NADYA: Because they’re healthy and thriving and crying.

ANGELA: No. Because there are so many. And how are you going to be able provide for them? FOURTEEN.

NADYA: With help.

ANGELA: Think about it, Nadya.

NADYA: I have.

ANGELA: Fourteen

NADYA: I have to let go of my need to control everything, and I have to accept the help that’s been offered.

She said this like it was the party line.

ANGELA: I see. I hope you’ll get help.

NADYA: Ok.

ANGELA: I really hope so.

Octuplets: mother vs grandmother caught on tape

February 23, 2009

The octuplet story gets more sordid by the day. First the birther and grandmother of the 14 children go at it on radaronline and then a possible sperm donor father pops up. The radaronline interview can only be watched there. They say they will release snippets of it all week. I have the interview they did with the grandmother in the drafts somewhere that I will try to post today. Radaronline are the ones who provided the pix of the nasty un-childproofed house the six have been living in and I hope the octuplets never find their way to.

Again, I will state as clearly as I can: those 8 children should never be placed in her custody. She committed child abuse by implanting them - having already been unable to care for the 6 six children at home. She has 14 children under the age of 7. One set of twins and then the octuplets, which were 10 weeks premature. Provided the other 5 pregnancies were full term - in the span of roughly 96 months - she was pregnant for half. And the last pregnancy she was on bedrest at 23 weeks.

What type of care were the six already birthed children getting?

Why type of care was humanly possible by a non-pregnant single mother and an exhausted grandmother?

And what else was it besides premeditated welfare fraud when she willingly implanted them knowing she would have absolutely no independent means to support them. She was unable to provide basic food and shelter for the 6 she already had.

And in case you need more convincing - look at the before pictures of the birther compared with the multiple plastic surgeries face she has now. That’s tens of thousands of dollars she did not use to care for her children.

She was not a mother - she was a birthing factory and should be treated as such. She would qualify for two of Hitler’s Mother’s Crosses and she should not be allowed anywhere near those octuplets.

Have you watched her “interact” with them? Watch her and decide for yourself her (lack of) maternal attachment. Look at the pictures. of her house - taken when she supposedly has 2-3 nannies caring for the 6 children.

She has no job.

No skills.

No resources.

No father. She gave birth to 14 children knowing absolutely knowing that they would not have a father in their lives. What kind of beast does that? Certainly not a mother.

No in place support system.

No home.

No way to support any of them - financially, emotionally or in any other fashion.

No way to love each one of them without neglecting the other - thus all are and have been neglected.

That alone is criminal.

The hospital bill has already got to be over a million dollars with no end in sight.

She said in the interview that she had no idea that embryos can be “adopted”. Her absolute ignorance is limitless as is the grandmother’s. That fertility doctor needs to go to prison as well as have his medical license permanently revoked.

He swore to First do know harm. He violated that oath and should be punished by never being given the chance to violate it again.

She said she didn’t want to kill the ones that were frozen - so how many are left? And if there are some left - what is she going to do with them? She said the octuplets were a “sign from God” not to have anymore.

Why does a rational being need a sign from God to know when to stop criminal behavior? What type of judgment does that woman possess?

None - maternal or otherwise.

If she still has a functioning uterus and some embryos she will try it again. She said in the interview that 8 embryos had never developed before and that if she had just one or two what’s the difference? She is talking about them as things - not human beings with souls and feelings in need of love and nurturing.

One of her defenses is that she will love and hold them like other parents cannot. Where are her 28 arms?

She goes beyond “obsessive compulsive” to selfishness on a previously unseen pathological level. Her behavior and decision-making to have those embryos implanted demonstrates beyond a shadow of a doubt that she has absolutely no maternal instincts.

Period.

I hope Child Protective Services watches these interviews. Their absolute dysfunction is on display and they have no qualms showing it. What goes on in private?

Now imagine the six kids already at home listening to this for years. Look at how exhausted the grandmother is.

Who is going to care for any of those children?

Have they ever been cared for?

And has anyone begun to think about what the 7 y/o’s life is like?

Has always been like?

Will always be like?

Father shoots 9 y/o son with a BB gun for blocking the tv

February 19, 2009

It's not a 9 y/o writing to Santa to make her dad stop raping her and her sister - it's an 9 y/o boy writing a school essay that led to his father's arrest.

The strange part? It happened in Oregon, Wisconsin - hometown of Flight 1549 First Officer Jeff Skiles.

The boy wrote an essay: "painful afternoon my Dad shot me with a BB gun", which the teacher turned over to the authorities and the father, 36, was subsequently arrested and charged with one felony count of child abuse. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 6 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He was instructed to "not to threaten or engage in any acts of violence against his son" including corporal punishment.

The father admits to shoot his son with a BB gun - that he just happened to have handy in the house with a young child around - because the boy wouldn't move away from the TV fast enough. He said he aimed at the child's rear pants pocket because he thought it would be more padded. His words. He hit the child in the buttocks. He also said he was absolutely not under the influence of anything - as if that would mitigate shooting his son at close range with a BB gun because he had the nerve to stand in front of the TV.

SHOOTER: I knew right away it was a stupid thing I did. I told my kids the only way I'm going to touch them is to kiss them, hug them, tickle them. I was very, I was not under the influence of anything. It was a very stupid decision.

My question is how long after the shooting did the boy write his essay? If the dad knew right away that it was stupid what did he do about it? And why is there a BB gun so handy when kids are in the house?

No word on the child's injury, how many other kids are in the house, whether the father has a previous history of abuse or if there is a mother present.

The law has finally stepped in with Alfie

February 19, 2009

Original story (video + pix)
What's it's all about Alfie?
Alfie's mum speaks out
Alfie's dad remind you of anyone?
What punishment should Alfie & Chantelle's parents face?
The law has finally stepped in with Alfie

Right when I didn't think it could get more disgusting - it has. Poor Alfie has been taken complete advantage of and used by both families to make some cash. It is beyond revolting. One has to wonder if Chantelle dreamt it up before she even had "sex" with Alfie. As I have said from the beginning, why is that not considered rape? The kid doesn't even weigh 90lbs and she is at least 50lbs heaver and foot taller. Imagine if it were reversed and a worldly looking 15 y/o boy got a 10 y/o looking 12 y/o girl pregnant? What would be the outrage there? It's much too early in the day to start a rant.

Anyway it was a story I had read yesterday but was hoping was not true. Here are some interesting comments by folks - some of the things alleged are disgusting concerning the maternal grandmother's role. DNA will tell the truth and by then little Alfie will have been disgraced on every front.

The law has finally gotten into it. A High Court judge has slapped a ban on the press to prevent further release of details that will remain until March 10th.

From the UK's Press Gazette's Paul McNally:

The order, made by Mrs Justice Baron in the Family Division, does not prevent publication of details already in the public domain, but bans the revelation of any new information.

Like those teenagers claiming they're the dad are going to keep quiet? And the DNA results won't get leaked?

It said the ban had arisen "as a result of press intrusion" and also "because of allegations made by at least two others that they may be the putative fathers of Maisie".

"The court received information that the private and family life of the mother and baby had been disrupted to such an extent that the court was concerned about the mother and baby being unable to lead a normal family life," the statement said.

"It was equally important to the court that the young putative father should be able to live his life and return to school."

And a press watchdog group you know like the ones we used to have here when we still had an uncorrupted press. Now our "factcheck" dot coms are good enough for Supreme Court exhibit A. The UK's Press Complaints Commission is investigating the alleged payments by [tabloids] The Sun and the People to the parents of Alfie Patten. From their website:

Clause 6 (iv) of the Editors' Code of Practice says:

"Minors must not be paid for material involving children's welfare, nor parents or guardians for material about their children or wards, unless it is clearly in the child's interests".

Newspapers are allowed to breach this rule if there is a demonstrable public interest. The PCC will make a public ruling on the matter when it has completed its investigation. The PCC will make a public ruling on the matter when it has completed its investigation. The Commission has powers - under which it is conducting this inquiry - to launch investigations of its own volition.

It's not like they have much of a choice. Anyone who saw this picture of "the parents" was disturbed by it.

Little family ... Alfie, Chantelle and baby Maisie

(The Sun)

Alfie Patten 13, Chantelle Steadman, 15, with 4 day old Maisie Roxanne, 7lbs 3 oz

Is this a child who can consent to sex with a girl a foot taller and 50 lbs heavier and clearly much more worldly? Does he look like he initiated whatever it was that was alleged to have happened? That he even has a clue - now?

Found these quotes funny as far as the phrasing - the situation is beyond tragic.

COLEEN NOLAN: Does her mum really think that Chantelle is worth so little that it is OK for any local oik to use her then clear off home for his Coco Pops?

BRIAN READE: The claims from 14-year-old boys that they "slept" with Chantelle Stedman. No you didn't. You had a quick session behind the bushes, then went home for chicken nuggets.

Octuplets: already filthy house unfit for children (pix)

February 9, 2009

Here is a view of the wonderful living environment those premature octuplets will be coming home to. You decide if she is a fit mother from the physical - obvious evidence that already exists.

Photos courtesy of RadarOnline.com.

"RadarOnline.com reporter described the interior as "filthy", with food on the walls."

I hope Radar Online called Child Protective Services. This house is clearly unfit for young children to live in. And supposedly there are 3-4 nannies caring for the six children at the time these photos were taken.

Octuplet017420.jpg

What are the chances this house is childproofed?

HouseNoKids490.jpg

How many choking hazards do you think are in here?

Octuplet020420.jpg

Does grandmother look like she's up to all night feedings, screaming infants, diaper changes and potty training to name a few? It's clear she can't manage doing the laundry. This is already evidence of an unfit parent.

What is really going on with those octuplets?

January 30, 2009

What the mother did in California was criminal.

Period.

She knowingly allowed implantation of 8 embryos in a womb that had already produced six children ages 7, 6, 5, 3 and 2 y/o twins. Think about that alone. What mother can handle six children six years apart with at least two - maybe three - in diapers and unable to dress or bathe themselves and all six unable to care for themselves?

What grandmother allows her daughter to have fertility treatment when she already has 6 grandchildren living with her?

Did the mother lie to the fertility doctor about having other children? Or did he knowingly go along with it? I say he because I do not believe - nor do I want to believe - that a woman would willingly do that. If it was a woman - a mother - than she deserves a special place in prison.

It was wrong. And selfish. And immoral. And unethical. And against the laws of nature.

It is child abuse.

She has willingly deprived her already born children of a childhood. Children who had no say. Each one of them will be mothers to those children - if in fact they all stay together.

And if it isn't already - it should be illegal.

And if the doctor hasn't already lost his license - he should - and then he should be sent to prison.

This was not the first time the doctor has done this but it must be his last.

If it happened in another country - something has to be done to investigate it.

Having IVF -- I would bet that at least her twins are a product of it also -- when one already has six children is criminal. Criminal in ways I cannot begin to express.

The grandmother is the guiltiest party of all. Those six children were living with her. Her daughter was living with her. She is responsible for them if only in her domicile. A rational person, a mature woman, a loving mother, and a concerned grandmother would never have allowed such insanity. And as the provider of their shelter, she had a right and most certainly a duty to provide for all of them - most importantly the well-being of the grandchildren already alive.

Allowing the implantation of 8 more lives in her daughter's womb violated the laws of nature and it should be a violation of civil law.

This leads me to the conclusion that the grandmother was a willing party to it.

And that leads me to believe that something much more is going on here.

Is there a religious or ethnic component? A cult? Illegal adoption? Baby selling? Child sex slavery?

It smells rank and is reminiscent of the Germans forcing the women to get pregnant to ensure the perpetuation of the Master Race.

Are they doing this is in the Arab world to replenish the number of human detonators?

Who has been funding this despicable act?

Something is very wrong here.

This is no random act. And it was clearly not an act of God.

And it is not the first time.

What are the chances all six were derived from fertility treatments?

She had those other six children somewhere and from the twins I would guess she has had fertility treatment assisted pregnancies. She had a gynecologist and an obstetrician who had to have known at least some part of her history. She had a fertility doctor. Yes. Fertility - not infertility. There is nothing infertile about her. She was trying to have the max amount of babies in the least amount of time possible. Superfertile.

Why?

If she was mentally ill that would have had to have been diagnosed somewhere along the way. Is there a pathological condition associated with any of this?

Does an actual biological father as in flesh and blood exist? Or was it all donor sperm?

Has she ever been married? Are their different fathers to the children?

How many different hospitals has she given birth at? They said she just "showed up" pregnant. Someone receiving IVF doesn't just "show up" somewhere. She goes to where her doctor is on staff or is affiliated with.

Where else has she lived? Does she have a legal residence? Are the children in school?

There is a reason she is not allowing her name to be used. Somebody knows something. The children's pediatrician. The schools. The neighbors. The medical staff. The billing office. Social Services. The police.

And the fertility doctor has done this before and probably has been doing it for awhile. He needs to be stopped immediately.

Where are the pack of barry investigators who infiltrated Wasilla?

Do any of the KOS people live in Pasadena?

Something very wrong and most assuredly illicit is going on.

The question is what?

Octuplets: Ethics of fertility treatment?

January 30, 2009

Are there any?

There are the well past menopausal woman in their late fifties and sixties giving birth to children they will mostly likely not be able to see get married or even graduate from high school. Children they know will grow up caring for them. Having the child for your daughter who is unable to conceive is one thing - having a child because it can be done is another.

The California mother who just gave birth to octuplets was on fertility treatment.

How is infertility defined?

Why does a mother of 6 children need fertility treatments of any sort and how many times had she already had it? For all of the pregnancies? From 6 to 14 children in five minutes. 8 premature infants: 9 1/2 weeks early, ranging from 1 pound 8 ounces to 3 pounds 4 ounces and six older children: 7, 6, 5, 3 and 2 y/o twins.

What type of mother does this to her children?

What kind of grandmother allows this, when she is already caring for her daughter and her 6 grandchildren within her home?

What type of OB doctor is allowing this to continue?

Who is paying for all of their medical care? And in the years to come?

The odds are very high that one or more of those children - if they survive - will have medical conditions requiring lifelong care.

Did she think about that when she selfishly had those 8 embryos implanted in her womb? She said she "never expected that the fertility treatment she received would result in eight more babies".

What was she expecting? And why is she getting fertility treatment in the first place? She clearly needs psychiatric evaluation and the fertility doctor needs to be investigated so that this never happens again.

This is wrong on many levels. She has a set of twins, which is highly suspicious of previous fertility treatment. If not - they were certainly predictive of future multiple births.

Dr. RICHARD PAULSON, director of the fertility program at USC Medical School:

We do not ever intend to give someone octuplets. . . . Apparently the mother made the decision to carry all eight babies to viability.

It is intended if the possibility exists. What kind of doctor implants 8 embryos at once into a clearly functioning womb knowing full well that the mother is not going to selectively terminate any of them and that she already has six children under 7 at home?

Where exactly was the procedure performed and who payed for it?

DR JEFFREY STEINBERG, medical director of Fertility Institutes, which has clinics in LA, LV & NYC.

Who am I to say that six is the limit. There are people who like to have big families.

And what about the children?

There is not a child alive who wants to be one of 14 children. I can personally attest that being at the bottom half of a double digit family one does not get much individual attention. Much, much worse - the older children are charged with the responsibility of watching and raising their younger siblings instead of being allowed to be children themselves.

It is not their job. They didn't ask for it. And when it is done through artificial means it goes beyond irresponsible to reprehensible.

Imagine the every day forevermore responsibilities that will be heaped on that 7 y/o. What type of mother does that willingly to her child? Who was that mother thinking about? Certainly not the children she already had.

What attention were they already not getting while she was on bed rest?

DR JAMES GRIFO, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the NYU School of Medicine:

I don't think it's our job to tell them how many babies they're allowed to have. I am not a policeman for reproduction in the United States. My role is to educate patients.

He's not a policeman - but he took an oath to first do no harm and there has been irreparable harm done to those six children that will continue the entirety of their lives and will affect how they treat their own - if they have any. Children who grow up in double digit homes do not have their own double digit families. They know how wrong it is to each child.

And what exactly does his "education" entail? How-to classes on how to raise 14 children under 7? How to pay for therapy? How to spread your love between 14 children -- 8 of whom are premature and will require 24 hour care and who knows what type of future special needs care.

This story is troubling on many levels.

Why does the mother not want to be identified? Why did she "show up" already pregnant? Why did the grandmother allow her daughter to receive fertility treatments in the first place? How many of the other children were products of fertility treatment? What kind of doctor provided the treatment and where was it done? The guidelines state that only 2 embryos should be implanted in a woman under 35 - she is 33.

DR MICHEAL TUCKER, a leading clinical embryologist based in Atlanta:

In my opinion, if a medical practitioner had anything to do with it, there's some degree of inappropriate medical therapy there.

DR R. DALE MCCLURE, president of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, said in a statement Friday that the organization has been working to reduce the number of high-order multiple births resulting from in vitro fertilization treatments.

If this resulted from an IVF treatment, we can say that transferring eight embryos in an IVF cycle is well beyond our guidelines.

DR SCOTT SLAYDEN of Reproductive Biology Associates in Atlanta, Georgia:

It would be extremely unusual, very strange and hard to believe that somebody who is a professional would put that many embryos into a woman who is 33 years old who has children.

ROBERT GEORGE, professor at Princeton University and member of the U.S. President's Council on Bioethics.

What you need are professional norms and legal regulations that restrict practices that are inherently very dangerous.

M. SARA ROSENTHAL, bioethicist at the University of Kentucky's College of Medicine.

If she went to a fertility clinic, there's wide consensus from every single ethicist and fertility specialist that this was irresponsible and unethical to implant that many embryos.

This is an outrageous situation that should not happen.

ARTHUR CAPLAN, University of Pennsylvania bioethicist:

Anyone who transfers eight embryos should be arrested for malpractice.

As should the grandmother who allowed it - sanctioned it. And her daughter's sperm donor/ husband/husbands/father (s) of the babies?

ANGELA SULEMAN, grandmother of octuplets, who knew exactly what was going on, with the understatement of the cosmos:

It's going to be difficult.

14 children without a father in the home.

A mother with no source of income or maternal judgment.

A grandmother unequipped to handle her daughter, let alone 14 children under 7.

Around the clock feedings and whatever other medical treatments needed for the 8 premature infants.

350 diaper changes a week.

Shuttling back and forth to school, shopping and the hospital. 7, 6, 5, 3 and twin 2 y/os needing to be fed, bathed, educated, entertained and loved. The younger 2 or 3 needing to be potty trained. None of them able to care for themselves.

How many minutes of individual attention will they get? Have they been getting?

And who is going to finance all this? Has been financing it?

The grandmother is just as responsible - irresponsible - and should be held accountable. Fertility treatment was not intended for a 33 y/o mother with six children no matter her means.

It is time for there to be strict ethical guidelines placed on fertility treatments - especially the donation of embryos to another family. There are already cases of adopted siblings unknowingly getting involved in a relationship, including marriage and children - even after they are made aware. It's not considered "incest" anymore - it's been gentrified to Genetic Sexual Attraction. No matter what they name it - it is against the laws of nature.

It is one thing to be given up after you were born.

What is it like to realize you were given up as an embryo? An embryo compiled in a laboratory? And what is it like for siblings to run across another family of "stranger" genetically related siblings?

And the pregnant man who had a bilateral mastectomy but not gender reassignment surgery who got pregnant via internet-bought sperm and a pet shop syringe? He's pregnant again. How confused are those children going to be? And how disturbing was it for the doctors to deliver a baby from a genital region consisting of a vagina and birth canal and a hypertrophied clitoris the size of a penis?
