Statement by the President on the bombings in Indonesia

I strongly condemn the attacks that occurred this morning in Jakarta, and extend my deepest condolences to all of the victims and their loved ones.

The American people stand by the Indonesian people in this difficult time, and the U.S. government stands ready to help the Indonesian government respond to and recover from these outrageous attacks as a friend and partner.

Indonesia has been steadfast in combating violent extremism, and has successfully curbed terrorist activity within its borders. However, these attacks make it clear that extremists remain committed to murdering innocent men, women and children of any faith in all countries. We will continue to partner with Indonesia to eliminate the threat from these violent extremists, and we will be unwavering in supporting a future of security and opportunity for the Indonesian people

Madame Secretary Clinton arrives in Indonesia

February 18, 2009

Yeah it takes me a while to post things. The shoe throwers have switched to the democrats. One size fits all I guess. The switch is the protesters. Notice anything? Yep, there are women. How transparently sad. It’s just like Mr Saudi King appointing a woman to his cabinet as head of “Women’s Education”. And it’s a democratic country, so what is the bog deal about the protesters in the first place?

Look at the poor guy holding the sign.

ITN

Here she makes sure to acknowledge the women waiting up in the balcony.

Indonesian barry doppelganger?

January 25, 2009

Here's another barry look-a-like. Ilham Anas, 34, is a photographer from West Java, Indonesia. Reggie Brown is from Chicago and is a little too young and innocent looking. Difference - the eyebrows and square forehead.

From Adelaide News:

ANAS: I'm actually a shy person. I don't like being put in the spotlight. But I see my resemblance to Obama as a blessing. I used to look at the mirror and I had a negative perception of myself. I will take all the opportunities that come my way, as long as they don't violate ethical codes and my personal values.

So far that has included:

An appearance on Indonesia's premier talk show Bukan Empat Mata (Not Four Eyes) to coincide with Obama's inauguration in Washington.

A Filipino drug company has cast Mr Anas in a commercial showing him dressed as Obama visiting the Philippines.

And he has received marketing offers from Indonesian and South Korean companies.

When asked if he would like to be a body double for barry, he replied: "I don't want to get shot".
