#8 Most Ignorant proobamedia: Tiki Barber

January 6, 2009

Even though it is not a political quote related to pro-obama media bias - it is from MSNBC and it was a comment that went unsanctioned. During the Olympics, with Brian Williams present, Tiki Barber called his co-host Jenna Wolffe a cunt. Williams and Tamron Hall try to cover but it is clear what he says. Earlier in the show Wolffe had dissed Tiki for not having a Super Bowl ring. Clearly, he didn't take it well. And if they repeat?

BARBER: You are such a..." and left it at that.

Later he finishes the sentence with: "You're a total medal cunt!".

Did this get any play? What if it were Brian Williams calling the Tamron a cunt? Or, hey, Mrs Obama, you're a total cunt? Did Imus call any of the Rudgers basketball team cunts? This election has made perfectly clear The Double Standard of race.

Sexist quote of the day: "You're a medal cunt!"

Tiki Barber calls his co-host Jenna Wolffe a "cunt". Yep, a cunt. No doubt about it. Watch their reactions - including the pass off to Tamron Hall. Earlier in the show Wolffe had dissed Tiki for not having a Super Bowl ring. Clearly, he didn't take it well.

TIKI: In a different respect - you've been in the news business a long time. I want your take on this Jesse Jackson issue. First, on what he said. But secondly, and I think more importantly, the fact that it was released - because he was off-air. This wasn't something that was for broadcast. What's your opinion on that?

DAN RATHER: Well, these days with the 24 hour news cycles, you can never assume that anything is off-air or off the record. You have to - anything you say, you have to be prepared for it being on the front page of tomorrow's paper after it's been on cable television. With Jesse Jackson-I recognize this is not popular said to alot of people-I have a great respect for Jesse Jackson. That he was important figure in paving the way for an Osama bin Laden to appear. But this is one of those things, I think, that by the time we get to the convention nobody's going to remember it - it doesn't count for very much.
