Remember the “pink boxers & flipflops” soldier?

In the mountains of east Afghanistan, on May 11th, 19 y/o Army Spc. ZACHARY BOYD of Fort Worth was asleep when his platoon came under attack from the Taliban. He only took the time to put on his vest and his helmet. AP photographer David Guttenfelder (40) just happened to be in position to take a shot of the rest of Boyd’s “uniform”… pink “I Love New York” boxers and flipflops. He bought the boxers when he “stranded in New York”. He called home to tell his parents he made it on the cover of the NY Times but didn’t tell them what eactly he was – or wasn’t – wearing.

He said to his parents:

I may not have a job anymore after the president has seen me out of uniform.

Defense Secretary ROBERT GATES had a different take:

Well, let me tell you, the next time I visit Afghanistan I want to meet Specialist Boyd and shake his hand. Any soldier who goes into battle against the Taliban in pink boxers and flip-flops has a special kind of courage. And I can only wonder about the impact on the Taliban. Just imagine seeing that — a guy in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in his crosshairs — what an incredible innovation in psychological warfare.

I can assure you that Specialist Boyd’s job is very safe indeed.

Gen Dunwoody tosses first pitch at Yankees game (6-14)

Well I got a little distracted in my previous post. I meant to comment on the Yankees’ tribute to the United States Armed Forces and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation on Flag Day (yesterday). I was looking for photos/video and got side-tracked by the new digs of General Ann E Dunwoody - the first ever female 4-star Army general and then continued to digress.

It took 45 minutes of searching today, including a curious redirection from the Special Ops site to the Dept of Defense, to find some photos, which of course weren’t in the usual places: Yankees.com, ESPN, MLB, AP or Reuters. And there was no official video to be found – even on Military.com or the Army Materiel Command site – where I should have started out. Maybe somebody at the game will post one on YouTube. I would like to see the General’s form. Something tells me it would be a tad better than Skiles’.

Not to take anything away from heroes in their own right, photos and videos were easily available of Flight 1549’s First Officer Jeff Skiles and both of Captain Sullenberger’s ceremonial tosses but not Gen Dunwoody’s, who happens to outrank former USAF Captain, Captain Sullenberger by four stars and then some and who I’m sure made some of her own spectacular landings during dicey circumstances — feet first — during the first Gulf War, and whose military pedigree extends back to the Revolutionary War.

Americans, young girls especially, should get to see the heroes who go about their business and never end up being praised on the Morning Talk Show circuit or have their courageous deeds remunerated and immortalized in Hollywood movies.

Women/girls watched Secretary of State Hillary Clinton put 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling - how many know how Gen Dunwoody exploded through the brass ceiling or are even aware that she did?

“Premiere logistician” General Dunwoody has served in the Army since 1975 and has received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, SWASM (two campaign stars), and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.

DUNWOODY: I’ve heard from moms and dads who see this promotion as a beacon of hope for their own daughters and an affirmation that anything is possible through hard work and commitment.

According to written accounts, the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachuted into Yankee Stadium in perfect formation – followed by the playing of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) video. Marine Sergeant Keith Zeier, along with Courtney and Hillary Robinson, daughters of deceased Lieutenant Colonel Craig Robinson [read inspiring back story] then accepted donations ($95K) on behalf of the SWOF Foundation, which “provides full scholarship grants and educational and family counseling to the surviving children of special operations people who die in operational or training missions and immediate financial assistance to severely wounded special operations people and their families.”

The West Point Color Guard presented the colors while country singer and former U.S. Army Elite Task Force Ranger Keni Thomas, who was a member of the Army unit that fought at the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia, sang the National Anthem.

And then Commanding General for the U. S. Army Material Command, Gen Ann E Dunwoody, threw a perfect strike.

Capt Sullenberger gets hero’s welcome in original hometown

The denizens of Denison, Texas gave Capt Sullenberger a tremendous welcome home celebration. VIDEO. He was in town to deliver the commencement speech at his alma mater, Denison High and also to pay tribute to surviving veterans of the D-Day invasion 65 years ago. Which was engineered by another home grown hero: General Dwight David Eisenhower.

Sullenberger was given a key to the city and flags that had flown over The Alamo. Texas Gov Rick Perry presented Sullenberger with a legislative resolution and praised his safe landing, which saved the lives of 155 souls – only five of whom were injured.

He certainly has come a long way since his Danville homecoming when he stood stiffly and delivered just 73 words and seemed uncomfortable with the cheers and applause.

He thanked the widow of his Denison flight instructor and then asked his high classmates why they “weren’t this nice to me back in high school?”

And what type of Commander and Chief sits like this unless it’s intentional? He’s surrounded by cameras every day and knows exactly at what angle he is being shot.

(From the G20) The First Lady is oblivious to the camera angle, which catches her exposed inner thigh.

Here are the boys’ near miss back in April for the G20. Sarkozy has the same fondness for barry as does the American press. And barry…? looks like he’s ready to do what he did to Dr Biden at the convention when he made his “surprise” appearance.

It’s probably why the First Lady of France chose to just shake barry’s hand.

Whereas the First Lady of America, looks like she’s going to pick up the little gingerbread man and bite his entire head off after she finishes Hannibal Lectoring him.

Please someone teach the First Couple etiquette and protocol and most of all show them what their body language is saying. They seem not to have a clue or interest in getting one. Here they look like Ellie Mae and Jethro.

Imagine if these photos were the first time you were seeing the Obamas. What would you think about the First Couple? How would feel about them representing the US on the world stage?

What do you think Arab countries would think about Mrs Obama, as pictured? Flashing her inner thigh and mannishly grabbing the President of France and literally sucking his face?

And what would the Japanese Prime MinIsiter’s wife feel sitting across from barry who looks like he’s using the presidential commode?

Note the shrinking posture and mannish awkwardness of Mrs Obama’s shoulders, chest, arms and hands. She looks lost and uncomfortable and not on par with the quiet but commanding feminine posture of the first Lady of France. The same quiet posture she had in their seated photo. Here they look fairly similar in size – the patterned dress/jacket flaring at the bottom making Mrs Obama look wider across the middle than she is, especially next to the straight silhouette of the neutral color. Patterns and lively colors look great on Mrs Obama but she has to realize she will be paired up with much smaller women (and male heads of state) and the busyness will just accentuate the difference.

Now go back and look at their seated photo where the lower half of Mrs Obama’s body dominates the picture making her appear twice the size of Ms Bruni. She has to realize where the camera is in comparison to her and the woman she is seated with. She uncrosses her legs puts them together and opens her posture — completely different photo. If she is given the choice should take the seat furthest from the camera. Is someone working with her on these things? Or doesn’t she think she needs it?

Now here’s all four. What do you notice besides Napoleon trying to get even? Look closely.

Here’s a prefect example of the problem with busy prints – the flags – which they routinely are photographed in front of. She should always be aware of where the official pictures re going to be taken. Again Ms Bruni is perfect – hard to compete with a model but a good person to learn from because of her height. See leans back from the camera ever so slightly to make herself look less tall. Of course he gives it away as did whoever circled it.

Mrs Obama gets an A for her legs and feet here though she is still too square to the camera. And there’s too much open surrounding her – the stars and stripes competing with the print and tie/scarf. Once again the flaring of the bottom of her jacket could have been pulled together and held with her hand if necessary with her thumb if her hands were like Ms Bruni’s.

But did you see the worst part of the photo?

Look at barry’s suit. He’s in fashion central and his suit is a giant wrinkle. His left trouser looks like corduroy in the inseam and below the knee both are a mess. It was his coming out party and he looked like he slept in clothes.

So did Britain’s Got Talent and/or YouTube conspire to keep Susan Boyle from winning?

It’s possible.

I can see why BGT would want to if they were aware of Ms Boyle’s fragile state. Which, according to the Daily Mail, BGT did know. They reported Ms Boyle was being seen by psychiatrists throughout the week and on Saturday.

The problem was YouTube. They were replaying old clips of hers with the wrong number, which did not happen to her opponents. Her number was supposed to be 08 but 07 or 09 showed up – her opponents Diversity’s and Shaun Smith’s numbers. I can see one number showing up wrong – but both? It explains the 1-2-3 finish.

Folks also complained they couldn’t get through.

ITV spokesman:

The voting lines for the finalists were clearly displayed and read out after each act had performed in the final, with further calls to action for all of the acts at four further points in the evening.

We are satisfied viewers had ample opportunity to know which voting numbers to call. We are not responsible for any phone numbers which may have been posted on unofficial websites.

They may not have been responsible but they were responsible for the old clips being available. They made them available. They could and should have been removed but they wanted to make more money. Now of course they’re gone. Can’t milk the cow after it’s put out to pasture.

How close was the voting?

Close enough for the You Tube problem and busy phone lines to have potential significance.

After giving her all, Ms Boyle had had enough. Too much. The specifics are not really necessary. The point is she was stretched to the breaking point after having been used and manipulated by Britain’s Got Talent. This clearly didn’t come on overnight. And the very least they could have done was let her travel with Pebbles.

Ms Boyle’s comments after Diversity won. See here for the winner being announced. She smiled and cheered and did not throw a tantrum. She showed a bit of leg, yes.

She didn’t appear out of her gourd. Tired, subdued, and maybe even medicated but not in need of observation. But several hours later she was taken to the clinic accompanied by police.

After the show:

Susan was reportedly emotionally drained out and was coping with the fact that she’s a runner up. Show aides contacted the police after noticing that she was acting strangely at her London hotel.

A source elaborated, “She’d been at the hotel for a few days, but since Saturday’s final had been acting strangely, causing a bit of a stir. The staff were concerned – something wasn’t right.”

Scotland Yard:

Police were called at approximately 6pm (1700 GMT) to a central London hotel to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act. Police and ambulance attended. The woman was taken voluntarily by ambulance to a clinic. At the request of doctors, police accompanied the ambulance.

In an official statement a Talkback Thames spokesperson said:

Following Saturday night’s show, Susan is exhausted and emotionally drained. She has been seen by her private GP who supports her decision to take a few days out for rest and recovery. We offer her our ongoing support and wish her a speedy recovery.

That’s as straightforward as I could find.

She was transported under the Mental Health Act to a facility (The Priory) specializing in mental health issues. Which means there was some degree of risk of harm to herself and/or others or she was unable to care for herself and that she wasn’t at first wiling to be transported there. She was admitted for more than “rest” and most likely will be there longer than a “few days”.

A Catholic priest, Father Norman Weslin goes about defending the Church’s Teachings on the sanctity of human life in his protest against abortion. He attempts to protest on the campus of a Catholic University, Notre Dame, where he should be welcome as a Catholic priest.

He wasn’t welcomed. He was arrested for trespassing, for putting one foot on to Notre Dame property. And then spent the next 4 minutes being brutally manhandled and handcuffed just for taking that step. Manhandled while he sang to Our Lady aka “Notre Dame”.

Why was a 78 y/o Man of God manhandled like this? Look the pain on Fr Weslin’s face – for what? For being a Catholic Priest, for following his vows, for trying to save the lives of unborn children, for protesting that a Catholic University wuld reward a man with an honorary degree who is as far away from the Church’s Teaching on abortion that it can get.

Fr Weslin was not treated with the respect a Catholic priest should have been given – trespassing or not. He was doing his job just as the policemen were doing theirs. Who treated the other as thy would like to have been treated? Who never fought or complained or waivered despite the obvious pain and humiliation?

Fr Weslin to policemen:

We’re Catholic priests. Why are you arresting a Catholic priest for trying to stop the killing of a baby? Use your mind. What are you doing that for? Why are you arresting a priest for trying to stop the killing of a baby? You’ve got it all backwards.

This was the policemen’s answer.

Note how Fr Weslin’s hands are bound tightly behind him and the pressure of the handhold of the blue blanket is directly on them – jostling up and down on his hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders as they haul him away. Just try it. Get in that position yourself. Have someone used a soft sock to bind your wrists and see how uncomfortable it is. Then imagine you have the joints of a 78 y/o man. And then imagine that your arms have been broken before. And then realize that the officer who handcuffed him knew about Fr Weslin’s injuries and did it anyway as Father “resisted” by singing.

While Fr Weslin was still jailed following his second arrest, others carried on the protest. Even as barry accepted an award ASU said he was not qualified to receive. One that should never have been awarded to a man who thinks abortion, something the Church classifies as murder. Here a unidentified nun is acting out her faith. Look at the pain on her face and look at the deference she was given.

Why the difference?

And indoors the alleged Catholic priest, who allowed his fellow priest to be manhandled, shakes hands with a man who vows never to outlaw the murder of the most innocent of soul even as he admits determining whether life begins at conception is above his pay grade.

I can’t get past this.

Fr Weslin Arrest #1: Four minutes of pain and humiliation while he sings

And is has nothing to do with my personal views on abortion or stem cell research or Notre Dame or Catholicism or Father Weslin’s foundation or even barry. I’m not debating the issue of abortion – the morality or ethics – or my personal thoughts. I am looking it from the Catholic viewpoint.

I can’t get past the vision of a 78 y/o Catholic priest–who was doing what the Lord asked of him and what he vowed to the Lord he would do–getting manhandled, disrespected and humiliated in front of the world, on the grounds of Catholic University because the president of the alleged Catholic University, an alleged Catholic priest, chose to award a man who thinks it’s okay not only to kill fetuses, but to withhold from them medical care should they survive the attempt on their life.

Father Weslin, hands bound behind his back, propped up by policeman asks:

We’re Catholic priests. Why are you arresting a Catholic priest for trying to stop the killing of a baby? Use your mind. What are you doing that for? Why are you arresting a priest for trying to stop the killing of a baby? You’ve got it all backwards.

In what world, let alone Catholic institution, is this even remotely okay?

And how is it a Catholic University when it allows a devout Man of God to be manhandled, bound and humiliated for the sake of a man who disregards the most sacred tenet of the Church? A man who believes killing a fetus is not murder. A man who voted to withhold treatment from a human life that by any definition was alive, despite the attempt to murder it.

As of Friday, Notre Dame ceased being a Catholic University. By censoring a priest, who was defending the Church, they unequivocally sanctioned abortion and did so for a man in favor of withholding medical care from fetuses who survive abortion.

Over what?

An ego-feeding honorary degree that means absolutely nothing because he has done absolutely nothing.

This smiling man, who made Father’s arrest necessary, could have gotten his fix of adoration, given his teleprompter reading and been feted like a king even without accepting the honorary degree. And his greedy egomania prevented an accomplished Harvard Law Professor and former Ambassador to the Holy See, Professor Mary Ann Glendon, a woman who was actually deserving of the highest honor bestowed by the University to not be awarded hers. A 120 year tradition broken for a man who is not even Catholic and who is diametrically opposed to the most sacred teaching of the Church.

But his ego wouldn’t budge. His needs were more important than the Catholic electorate and ND graduates opposed to his presence. ASU wouldn’t give him anything but naming rights to an already established scholarship and he was not about to go 2-0. He even admitted so in his Commencement Address. So he chose to accept an honorary degree that was based on nothing and had no inherent meaning other than a token given out to dignitaries during commencements.

But that meaningless token now has meaning. It will forever be linked to the image of Father Weslin, helpless on the ground, alone, hands bound behind his back and his torso held in place, not by human hands, but by a booted leg and anonymous material. Instead of some trivial degree given away to a man who speaks but does not act – it will represent the actions of a man who stood behind his words, willing to suffer the consequences.

This is the judge I couldn't get a bead on. He looks in pain here. Judge Ginsburg was right when she made her proclamation a few months back. He looks like he uses a fountain pen.

POTUS doesn’t know about low-flying planes in NYC??

Then we’ve got a lot more problems than the economy and swine flu.

For the President of the United States, barry sure doesn’t know what’s happening. Now he wants us to believe he knew nothing about the flyovers in New York because it was a “classified mission”?

A classified mission and he knew nothing about it?

If that is true, it’s more frightening than him knowing and lying about it.

What other “classified missions” are taking place without his knowledge?

It’s one thing with the AIG budgets that were a done deal - but a plane flying that low and unexpectedly in New York City? He knew nothing?

Then how come no word came to him - no alert about what was happening?

If he knew nothing about it, he would have made an immediate statement. As is, he waited, like usual, to assess the fall out and then pretend he knew nothing.

Folks, this man is the President and you don’t mind that he says he doesn’t know about any of these things? That he doesn’t know about “classified missions”?

Do you really feel comfortable knowing that American airplanes - no matter Air Force One or otherwise - can fly over New York without the president’s ok?

What is the biggest fear of the citizens of New York?

What is the most traumatic scene - video, photo - for them?

What do many of them still see in their heads?

An airplane low in the skies heading at them.

And that’s what they saw yesterday, which I am sure for some - maybe even more than some - brought back those horrible day/nightmares. Something some - maybe more than some - had thought they had gotten past.

What if someone had panicked and jumped out the window?

What is the widowed spouse of a man murdered on 9-11 telling a their 8 y/o about mom’s reaction yesterday?

How many New Yorkers were unable to sleep last night? Unable to get out of bed this morning?

How many started drinking or using drugs again after that sight?

Overly dramatic statements, you say?

Just one New Yorker is too many and in absolute surety there is at least one.

And it happened on barry’s watch.

And he says he knew nothing about an alleged “classified mission”.

And people are giving hims a pass.

Again.

This is not ok folks. Most especially if he did not know about it - which I 100% doubt. But since he is saying that - he’s “furious” - he needs to be scrutinized. The issue has to be raised as to why he, the President, is not aware of what is happening below him. Why he doesn’t know low-flying planes are circling New York City.

The press love affair has got to stop. He needs to finally get that the buck stops with him and they need to be the ones to make sure of it. He needs to be held accountable.

What he allowed to happen yesterday was beyond ignorant - it was cruel and inhuman.

Would that have ever happened - classified or not - if Hillary Clinton were president?

Absolutely never.

Just go back over the things barry has done in the last three weeks and ask yourself if any single one of them would have happened with Hillary Clinton as president.

If I was a New Yorker, not only would I be pist, I would be frightened about the president’s underling’s ignorance and lack of awareness. And I would be frightened of the president’s “judgment” in either hiring them or okaying (yes he did) their actions.

And the folks in the New York area who approved it?

Does it seem reasonable to you that having lived through 9-11 and the aftermath firsthand - maybe even saw those planes fly live into the towers and witnessed the bodies flying 100 stories to the ground - that they would allow the planes to fly that low for anyone other than the president? Or at least without the 100% assurance that the order was approved by the president?

Absolutely not on this planet.

Can you tell if this is a photo from 9-11 or yesterday?

And if you were standing on the ground looking up?

And if you were standing on the ground looking up, having stood in the same spot on 9-11?

How long before barry TV?

Would someone please tell barry the campaign is over? That it is time to do the job instead of looking to keep it. To immortalize his his first 100 days in office the DNC is launching an ad chronicling his "accomplishments". Who is this for? Is it to show the world that he has actually done something other than embarrass the American People on the world stage? What is it for other than to stoke his messiah complex? Is Robert Bauer behind it? Did barry demand it? Is it meant to keep him in the public's face so folks won't stand for a quo waranto proceeding?

And then there is the 100th day live prime time press conference. What are the chances Ed Henry will be called upon? And the chances someone asks him a real question and presses for an concrete answer? As likely as someone asking him to produce his birth certificate. If such a "correspondent" exists they would be famous forever....so why aren't they? Isn't that what they not so secretly crave?

Would you be willing to meet separately, without preconditions, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria [He could stay at Tony Rezko's house],Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea in order to bridge the gap that divides our country?

I’d be interested to hear what, uh, (affected tone) “Hillary” has to say to that question.

SENATOR CLINTON:

Well, I will NOT promise to meet with these leaders of these countries during my first year.

I will promise a very vigorous diplomatic effort. Because I think that it IS not that you promise a meeting at that high a level before you know what the intentions are.

I don’t want to be used for propaganda purposes.

I don’t want to make a situation even worse.

But I certainly agree that we need to get back to diplomacy, which has been turned into a bad word in this administration and I will pursue very vigorous diplomacy and I will a lot of high level presidential envoys to test the waters, to feel the way.

But, certainly, we’re not going to have our president meet with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez and the president of North Korea, Iran and Syria until we know better what the way forward would be.

It’s that experience, that understanding, not just of what world leaders I went and talked to in the ambassadors house I had tea with, but understanding the lives of the people like my grandmother who lives in a tiny hut in Africa.

What in the hell does he know about small villages in Africa? Was he born in a hut now? He didn’t even meet her until after his father died and he went back once courtesy of taxpayers. He sponsored his illegal alien auntie who has been living on taxpayer money and said he lost track of her. And he allows his brother George to literally live in a hut with no financial support.

How did you people buy this crap?

Who has been on more continents? In more countries? More palaces? More ambassador’s tea parties? More regular homes? And yes more huts?

Hint: not barry.

And who answered the question correctly.

No…propaganda…not the first year…test the waters…not make the situation worse.

And whose picture right now is being used as propaganda?

The now President of the United States, the person elected on his fairy tale of “superior judgment” for “getting it right from the beginning” on Iraq. He said he would meet and he did. He promptly screwed up on his first two out of two tries - not just in his first year - in his first 100 days. And he didn’t sit down - he bowed and he stood and hammed it up for the cameras. Even if we were allies he was acting like a frat boy.

He should have listened to someone who has been to at least 50 more countries and 2 more continents than him, including South America and Venezuela. Or maybe he should have taken a few years to sip some tea.

Secretary Clinton would never have made such foolish mistakes as rubbing the Queen’s back, bowing to anybody, let alone the man whose country produced 15/19 9-11 murderers and thinks it’s ok for 8 y/o girls to marry 47 y/o men. And she most definitely would not have been being caught laughing and smiling with Hugo Chavez - a man who called our previous president “the devil”.

And didn’t barry realize why he gave him that book? Did he forget Chavez called him an “ignoramus” who needs to “read and study to understand reality”?

He allowed himself to be taken off guard.

Secretary Clinton would have anticipated it and been able to extricate herself with grace. barry did neither. He is an infant when it comes to foreign relations. He doesn’t even know the State Department protocols. And he is showing he knows nothing about the kumbaya diplomacy he naively rambles on about.

All he knows is sycophantic adoration. And that’s all he wants. To be adored for having done absolutely nothing but con The American People.

Nails seem to be the theme today. Coloradan Prax Sachez experienced severe pain below his right eye while he had an MRI of the brain. Afterward he coughed up a nail that had been lodged in his nose. The MRI’s powerful magnet caused it to be dislodged. He doesn’t know how long or how the nail got in there.

This is something that I had wondered about since I saw it go down but I didn't feel it was my place as a civilian to put words into military folks' mouths. When barry went to give his mission accomplished I'm going back on my campaign promise speech in Camp LeJune, he came out after the singing of the National Anthem. It was shocking, really. Like he was a visiting head of state or the king or a dictator. Like he didn't have the time.

What excuse could there have been? Not only did he not honor the flag on a military base where he went specifically to talk to the military he completely disrespected the woman soldier who sang the National Anthem - quite beautifully.

How does anyone think this is ok? There had to be some military in the planning that had to have raised some objections.

Obama skips National Anthem at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune

Camp LeJeune, NC -- President Barack Obama did NOT come out on stage for the singing of the National Anthem at his Camp LeJeune speech given at 12:00 Noon today.The Marine Band played "Ruffles and Flourishes" but Obama did not come out. The Secretary of Defense, Marine Corps Generals and a Navy Admiral came out. The Marine Corps Chaplain came out and said a Prayer.

A lone female sang the National Anthem and after it was sung, the Marine Band again played "Ruffles and Flourishes," a speaker introduced the President and only then did the Band play "Hail to the Chief" and did President Obama come out.

This struck me as very odd. Why did the President not come out for the prayer? Why did the President not come out for the National Anthem?

This was no mistake. This was a slap in the face by the President, to the entire nation and it did not go unnoticed.

I'm glad it didn't go unnoticed or uncommented on by the military. The press is another matter. I didn't see or hear anything. Each one of those soldiers' lives depend on barry and he acted like some supreme dictator. He should be made to walk back in there and apologize. Right. When pigs with lipstick on fly.

Shoethrower’s monument lasted less than 48 hrs

This was the “monument” built for shoethrower, which was erected in of all places Saddam Hussein’s hometown of Tikrit, Iraq in front of an orphange.

CNN: Made of fiberglass and coated with copper, the monument consists of the shoe sitting on a concrete base. The entire monument is 3.5 meters high. The shoe is 2.5 meters long and 1.5 meters wide.

The orphans helped al-Amiri build the $5,000 structure in 15 days, said Faten Abdulqader al-Naseri, the orphanage director.

“Those orphans who helped the sculptor in building this monument were the victims of Bush’s war,” Al-Naseri said. “The shoe monument is a gift to the next generation to remember the heroic action by the journalist.”

So the cycle of violence and blind hate can continue. It was removed a day after it was revealed:

“We will not allow anyone to use the government facilities and buildings for political motives,” said Abdullah Jabara, Salaheddin deputy governor.
