Yep. He’s still a pig. And the way he laughed and smiled he knew he was going to get away with it. And he has. I was looking for a video and didn’t even see any comments on the “joke”.

He was talking about the upcoming anniversary of the small step and giant leap and he said:

It’s been forty years since we put a man on the moon — now our goal is to put a man on Sonia Sotomayor.

He’s basically calling Judge Sotomayor a lesbian. She doesn’t have a shrill voice or cackle and he has to be careful about race jokes so he attacks her sexuality – just like he does with every woman. He has major issues. Especially with powerful women. He never refers to them by their titles. Ever heard him say Barack? And how many times have you heard “Hillary” and “Sarah” and even just Michelle?

How often did dave joke about Justice Souter’s sexuality or lack there of? And he had Anderson Cooper on as a guest – did he make any gay jokes about him?

No. He talked about Bernie Madoff’s “butt boy”.

Bernie Madoff – well his accountant, his little buddy, his little butt boy — what did I say? Did I say butt boy? I’m sorry. That’s how we get those Emmy nominations.

And what was actually funny wasn’t intended as such. I’m glad I found a video because it’s easier to see cooper’s body language than describe it. The meaning is clear.

Then he smiles, shakes his head and pulls on his collar, proving he knows the birth certificate is a real issue.

The old standby of female politician shrillness isn’t going work with Judge Sotomayor.

So she’s ugly:

Had the place going crazy…right off the bat she opens up with I Dreamed a Dream.

A reference to Britain’s Got Talent’s Susan Boyle.

He smiles and laughs.

And then it’s that –

When everyone settled down Clarence Thomas sent over a mojito.

And then a weird video clip with Lindsay Graham.

After watching him more than a few times since his disgusting Palin daughter “jokes” I don’t get how he is supposed to be funny.

Take away the 6th Grade, ageist and sexist/sexual objectivication of women “jokes” and there’s what?

Evidently Letterman starts the week with a new version of apology. One wonders his sudden contrition. His show isn't on yet - but here's what CNN reports he said. Note that he only apologizes about the "knocked up by A-rod" "joke".

He says nothing about the slutty flight attendant joke that he had said he liked even as he was allegedly apologizing last week. No mention of the Top Ten crack joke or what I found most disgusting of all - his comment about Eliot Spitzer. [It seem a lot of people never heard it since it was on the following night]. He connected a grown man - another adulterer - who hired women to have sex with him with a 14 y/o girl. Where's the connection? And what was supposed to be funny even if it was the 18 y/o daughter?

Nothing about these. Imagine Imus joking about Michelle Obama and a "kilo of crack". Recall that in his first non-apology he mentioned the Spitzer comment so it's not like he never acknowledged it. Someone who is truly sorry about what they said makes sure they apologize for everything. And that will never happen because he already said he wasn't going to apologize for the slut comment: "The only thing I can say abiut this is I kind of like that joke" (grin)

The toughest part of her visit was keeping Eliot Spitzer away from her daughter.

But he gets a plus for saying "everybody else who was outraged" instead of "IF" anybody was .... or "IF" I offended anyone...

FINCH CALLS ON CBS TO FIRE LETTERMAN

Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I – Springport) today has called for CBS Corporation President & Chief Executive Officer Leslie Moonves to terminate David Letterman’s contract with the network. Assemblyman Finch sent a letter via personal courier to Mr. Moonves asking for Mr. Letterman to be fired.

“Governor Sarah Palin was a guest of the City of Auburn in New York state,” said Finch. “She was subjected to degrading comments about herself, her 14-year-old daughter, and all women, on primetime television by Late Show host David Letterman. I find these comments to be completely unacceptable and outrageous.”

Governor Palin was in Auburn, New York to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Statehood of Alaska. She toured and addressed a crowd at the former home of Secretary of State William H. Seward, who was instrumental in the purchase of the Alaskan territory from Imperial Russia.

While staying in Upstate New York, Governor Palin and her family also took time to tour the home of Harriet Tubman who helped free slaves using the Underground Railroad. They visited the Women’s Rights National Historic Park and National Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, New York.

“Mr. Letterman made these comments on the heels of Governor Palin’s visits to notable landmarks of abolitionists and women’s rights advocates,” Finch stated. “These comments and Mr. Letterman’s continued degrading comments about women during the explanation of his remarks was appalling.”

Finch continued, “I insist Mr. Moonves fire David Letterman and send a clear message to America that the CBS Network and its affiliates do not find insulting women acceptable.”

NOW Analysis: After two nights of “jokes” at the expense of Palin and her family, Letterman tried to explain himself and offer something of an apology. On his June 10 show, Letterman said he was referring to Palin’s 18-year-old daughter, Bristol — not the 14-year-old daughter who actually accompanied Palin on her New York trip. Letterman said “I recognize that these are ugly” jokes. NOW agrees. Comedians in search of a laugh should really know better than to snicker about men having sex with teenage girls (or young women) less than half their age.

The sexualization of girls and women in the media is reaching new lows these days — it is exploitative and has a negative effect on how all women and girls are perceived and how they view themselves. Letterman also joked about what he called Palin’s “slutty flight attendant look” — yet another example of how the media love to focus on a woman politician’s appearance, especially as it relates to her sexual appeal to men. Someone of Letterman’s stature, who appears on what used to be known as “the Tiffany Network” (CBS), should be above wallowing in the juvenile, sexist mud that other comedians and broadcasters seem to prefer.

On that point, it’s important to note that when Chelsea Clinton was 13 years old she was the target of numerous insults based on her appearance. Rush Limbaugh even referred to her as the “White House dog.” NOW hopes that all the conservatives who are fired up about sexism in the media lately will join us in calling out sexism when it is directed at women who aren’t professed conservatives.

Well it’s nice to hear women’s group are finally speaking up. According FOX News — WENDY WRIGHT, whose group, CONCERNED WOMEN FOR AMERICA, advocates biblical values and family traditions, called on Letterman to issue a “real” apology, saying his comments were “worse than” merely poor taste. WENDY WRIGHT:

There’s a saying that out of the heart, the mouth speaks, and Letterman’s statement reveals a pretty ugly reflection of who Letterman may be.

When he said those things, they were thought through. He probably kicked them around with his writers who thought it was appropriate to say these reprehensible things.

The apology was inadequate and it was only about one of the statements. Letterman’s very poor view of women and minor girls is very disturbing, and he certainly needs to do more to change his own attitudes and then prove that his attitude has changed.

He needs to reach out to Sarah Palin. Apparently he feels threatened by the fact that she’s a beautiful conservative woman. He would’ve never said anything like that if Sarah Palin was a liberal. He needs to treat Sarah Palin with the respect and dignity she deserves.

DEBORAH DONOVAN RICE, executive director of STOP IT NOW, an organization aiming to prevent the sexual abuse of children, also denounced Letterman’s jokes and praised Palin’s response as “spot on.”

This wasn’t the usual fun, creative stuff I usually see on Letterman. This really dropped below the bar.

• The barry network didn’t have a woman talk with Gov Palin
• Lauer thought it was just a “joke” and a “feud”

Can we talk about some of the other ways you’ve been in the news lately – and you know about this. There’s been this feud this week with Late Show host, David Letterman–

GOV PALIN: If we must.

MATT:

I know. There’s been a feud this week with David Letterman over some comments he made about your family, some jokes about your daughter in particular. I’m just curious, how did you find out about them? Were you watching or did someone tell you about them?

GOV PALIN:

No, the next day I had an interview with John Ziegler on his new radio show and he asked me about a comment David Letterman had made regarding my appearance as a slutty flight attendant, and my first thought was, ‘Hey, don’t disparage flight attendants. They work hard – we love them. How condemning of them. Don’t say such a thing.’ And then I found out later the comment that was made about statutory rape of my 14 year-old daughter, Willow. Knowing that crossed the line and then others chiming in on other comments that Letterman has made. Quite, I think, a sad commentary on where we are as a culture, as a society to chuckle and laugh through comments such as he had made the other night. I think it’s quite unfortunate.

MATT:

Since David Letterman is not here – let me just say he did not mention Willow by name and then he went on to say he was not referring to your 14 year-old daughter, I do want to read this statement –

GOV PALIN: And Matt –

MATT: Go ahead –

GOV PALIN:

Matt, I would say that you and anybody else are extremely naive to believe that very convenient excuse of David Letterman’s. It took him a couple of days to think of that excuse. Uh…no, he wasn’t talking about my daughter who was there with me at the game – the 14 year-old. He was talking about some other daughter. I think that is a weak excuse and regardless – it was a degrading comment about a young woman. And I would hope that people really start rising up and decide it’s not at all acceptable.

No wonder young girls, especially, have such low self-esteem in America, when we think that it’s funny for a so-called comedian to get away with being able to make such a remark as he did –

MATT: You issued a statement–

GOV PALIN: And think that’s not acceptable.

MATT:

Governor – at the end if your statement you said that:

a joke like this contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.

Now, it was a joke. It was probably by most standards in bad taste but can you really [incredulous] connect the dots to criminal activity the way you did in that statement?

GOV PALIN:

I connect the dots to a degrading statement made about young women and that does contribute to some acceptance of abuse of young women. Let me read to you something I received in the middle of the night – an email – not from a known feminist, not someone who is an activist, but this I think speaks to this issue. This woman wrote that the women organizations across America are starting to rise up and say enough is enough and that it was a ridiculous comment. And, yeah, it was a so-called joke, but it wasn’t funny.

This email says:

Every male organization civic, religious, etc should rise up and shout in defense of their daighters, their sisters, their mopthers/ We’re in a position to encourage the whole country to take a stand against the disrespect shown to females. No wonder why girsl have such low self-esteem when people laugh at the innuendos and downright crudeness of comments to and about them. Shame on all of us–

MATT: When you-

GOV PALIN:

And haven’t had the nerve to walk out or at least boo when a so-called comedian makes such a comment.

MATT:

When you were asked about if you might appear on David Letterman’s Show to hash all of this out, your spokesperson issued a statement that said:

The Palins have no intention of proving a ratings boost by appearing on his show. Plus it would be wise to keep Willow away from David Letterman.

[Angry] I would like you to explain what that meant. Are you suggesting that David Letterman can’t be trusted around a 14 year-old girl?

GOV PALIN:

Hey, take it however you want to take it. It is a comment that came from the heart. Willow, no doubt, would want to stay away from David Letterman after he made such a comment. And you can interpret that however you want to interpret it.

MATT:

Well, but is that not perhaps in bad taste, also, Governor, if you’re-if you’re, you know, suggesting that a 62 y/o man–

GOV PALIN: No, it’s not in bad taste.

MATT: –couldn’t be trusted.

GOV PALIN:

No, it’s not in bad taste. Hey maybe he couldn’t be trusted because Willow’s had enough of these types of comments, and maybe Willow would want to react it him in a way that maybe would catch off guard. That’s one way to interpret such a comment.

MATT:

He’s tried to explain this. Does he owe you an apology?

Where did he explain it? Where did he begin to apologize? “He said I think I might regret…but” He doesn’t even regret.

GOV PALIN:

Here’s the problem, Matt – the double standard that has been applied here. One, let’s talk politically, the double standard. First, remember in the campaign, Barack Obama said the family’s off-limits – you don’t talk about my family. And the candidate who must be obeyed – everybody adhered to that and left his family. They haven’t done that on the other side of the ticket, and it has continued to this day. So that’s a political double standard. But here again, the double standard when it comes to acceptance of a celebrity being able to get way with a disparaging comment that does erode a young girl’s self-esteem and does contribute to some of the problems that we have in society.

This so-called humor I don’t find it humorous. I think a lot of Americans don’t think that it’s–

MATT:

And I would agree. I’m not so sure–I’m not sure that you can be so easy say that he’s gotten away with it. I think he will pay some sort of a price for this, Governor, because I do think that a lot of people feel the joke was in extremely bad taste – no matter which daughter of yours he was referring to.

Does he owe you an apology as opposed to just the explanation he’s issued?

GOV PALIN:

He doesn’t have to apologize to me.

I would like to see him apologize to young women across the country for contributing to that–kind of that thread that is throughout our culture that makes it sound like that it’s okay to talk about young girls in that way. Where it’s kind of okay and accepted and funny to talk about statutory rape. It’s not cool. It’s not funny.

MATT: Let me move on.

Dave looked awfully embarrassed when he came out but it didn’t last long. I never watch him. Does his whole schtick revolve around sex jokes? I was angry and disgusted when I started watching him from his previous comments and as he went along I realized that he is a pathetic aging comic that relies on sexism and just rude sex jokes to get laughs. His entire monologue – if you found the predictable sex jokes about Paris Hilton and Miss California and the ageism joke about Senator John McCain humorless – there wasn’t anything else funny. Here’s what his monologue consisted of. One wonders if they had a lot more Palin jokes meant to be used that they couldn’t.

Monologue recap…where’s the humor He made fun of Senator McCain – the old ageism that’s guaranteed to get a laugh. Then Broadway being a pedestrian mall and pot holes so big there’s a gift shop…Midtown Tunnel with picnic table and putting green. Then the woman who stuffed her mattress with cash – JOKE: leave off the last ’s’ for stupid. Then Paris Hilton and her sex life – how her most recent boyfriend was just using her for sex. Man who invented salad bar – JOKE: casket had a sneeze shield. Ahmadinejad – looking like a pervert. Not funny – true. And then on to Miss California followed by Gov Palin – no he didn’t apologize- JOKE: she’s taking him out hunting. Not a bad idea. How about a few jokes about a 43 y/o mother of five field dressing an over the hill senior citizen trying to do comedy and coming off as an old pervert who never went on dates? Descending to his level – how she needed a microscope to find his shrunken testicles. And then he finishes with Judge Sotomayor and her broken ankle and cuts to a clip of a lady falling off a rope bridge in a “jungle”. Not funny.

MONOLOGUE:

I’m Dave Letterman making friends wherever I go.

Discusses the switch over to digital from analog.

John McCain is confused. He wanted to know if after the conversion will his TV dinners still work.

Paris Hilton and her breakup with latest boyfriend.

He’s a former minor league baseball player and she apparently is sending him back and calling up a lefthander.

Paris Hilton got rid of the guy because he was just using her for publicity.

He says, no, that’s not true – I was just using her for sex.

Then on to another woman to trash with sex jokes.

Remember Miss California? Got herself in trouble for shooting her mouth off? Gee, I wonder what that’s like. (smiles)

She got fired. She has to turn in her crown, turn in her sash…and she also turns in her implants.

Miss California is a beautiful woman…in fact when Donald Trump had to go in and fire her that thing on his head started panting. That’s how beautiful she is.

What’s his son going to think of granddad’s humor?

On to Gov Palin, who he cannot even refer to by her title.

Well it’s busy week here on the Late Show.

Early in the week I made some jokes that upset Sarah Palin. And I was telling jokes about her family and stuff and she got really upset and I think everything’s fine now. I think everything’s gonna be great because she called today and invited to take me hunting.

She got upset. Not I was wrong…they were ugly…they were borderline and inappropriate sexual jokes about her 14 y/o daughter and she was justified in her anger. They were inappropriate about her 18 y/o daughter as well. It appears CBS is not going to do anything so why should he swallow his pride and admit he was wrong? Wonder what the Women’s Media Center is saying? They said nothing about sexims in the presidential election until the very end when it appeared Micelle Obama was going to get some scrutiny as the new First Lady.

And then on to Judge Sotomayor which had no comedic value.

Ladies and gentlemen. I don’t know where you’re going to find a better show than we have here tonite…if you take me out of the equation, that is.

Then he talks with Denzel Washington. Before the Jonas Brothers perform – he says these interesting comments.

I don’t know if you know anything about television…and well neither do I. On this show — I can’t speak for other shows – nothing is left to chance. There are no accidents – no coincidences on this show.

Kind of admits that he meant what he said and fully intended to say it.

Is a white former VP candidate and mother of five children being called a slut different than black college athletes being called nappy-headed ‘hos?

Why should one person lose their job and the other go unsanctioned?

What crossed the threshold for you?

Was it because of Gov Palin’s political party? Because of her religion? Because her oldest teenage daughter was “knocked up”? Because she has, as NEWSWEEK’s Jonathan Alter referred to Trig, a DISABLED INFANT?

Letterman’s Wednesday night show where I think he was trying to apologize. He didn’t. He came close to saying he regretted saying them and tried to weasel out of it saying he would never makes jokes about a 14 y/o. Problem being he did. His joke was directed at the daughter who was at the Yankee game with her mother who is 14 y/o. If he didn’t know that he should have just said it. Hand transcribed.

Here’s what Letterman said during the monologue:

Ladies and gentleman, I’m in so much trouble, because I’ll tell you why. The governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin is angry with me. Fuming. Angry. Seeing red and has called me pathetic. I admit I haven’t been called pathetic since the honeymoon. I won’t kid you I was feeling a little depressed when I heard the governor was mad at me and called me pathetic and to cheer myself up I went out and spent about $150k on clothes. I feel better now. I feel a little better. I was thinking about this, great, my luck I pissed off a hunter. [Acts like he's shooting a gun.] There he is! Get him!

After the commercial:

Speaking of stupid human tricks …I got myself into – I just stepped into traffic the other day – and by the way as this story unfolds – it’s gonna take some time so I hope you’re comfortable at home. Think about what’s happened here in the last couple of days. If you think you’d like to get yourself a talk show – grins into the camera -

We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter — the 18 y/o girl – her name is Bristol. Now they’re upset with me. Let me read to you how upset they are. I didn’t realize this till today. And keep in mind, I can’t really defend these, they’re just jokes.

[No, but he could apologize, which he never does. He probably regrets it.]

And some jokes are fine and some jokes are not fine and of course we make some mistakes left and right. But listen to how upset these people are about the jokes. And when I say these “people” I mean Gov Palin and her husband, Todd.

After he reads Todd’s he makes a face and laughs.

Think about getting yourself a talk show. The next statement is from the governor herself – who by the way is an absolutely lovely woman. (Audience laughs.) I would love to have her on the show. I think we can put these differences behind us. The next comment comes from Gov Palin:

Concerning Letterman’s comments about my young daughter, and I doubt he would ever dare make such comments about anyone else’s daughter. Laughter incited by sexually perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity — I am hardly a celebrity. I’m 62, yes. – aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands: That acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone’s daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.

(Audience laughs)

Well. I completely agree with that (Palin’s statement). I absolutely, completely agree with that. That’s not what I did.

(Audience laughs)

Here now are the jokes they’re upset about. This very well could be my last show. I don’t know why we all find that amusing. Ok, here is the joke. It all happened because Sarah Palin was visiting New York City and she was in town with her daughter and her husband Todd — they were doing stuff and they were at a Yankee game.

“Sarah Palin was in New York this week – the hardest part of the trip was keeping Eliot Spitzer away from her daughter.”

(Some of the audience laughs – he smiles)

I’m surprised we haven’t heard from Eliot Spitzer either.

I’m not necessarily proud of these jokes. We do stuff all the time, and our objective here is to get a laugh, and thank God we don’t have to go to the Hague – to the world court to defend them. It’s a joke that’s all it’s supposed to be. That’s what this is. Here’s the other joke they’re upset about.

Sarah Palin went to a Yankees game yesterday there was one awkward moment during the 7th inning stretch when her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.

(Audience laughs) Aren’t there any women writers on his show?

I’m telling you – I recognize that these are ugly. These are actually ugly. These are borderline. But again, in an act of desperation to get cheap laughs, which is what I’ve been doing for the last 30 years. Why didn’t we hear from Alex Rodriguez?

(Laughter and applause)

But now everything the governor and Todd said I absolutely agree with. These are not jokes made about her 14 y/o daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl. I mean, look at my record. It has never happened. I don’t think it’s funny. (Laughs) I would never think it was funny. I wouldn’t put it in a joke.

But you did Dave and you are too little of a man to admit it. How old is the lady he ‘knocked up’? Was she one of Eliot Spitzer’s rejects? How were the jokes any better about her 18 y/o daughter?

Here’s were you draw the line. Yes, maybe these were questionable, because the girl who actually, excuse me, was knocked up is now 18 y/o. So the difference there is 14y/o and of legal age. Ok. I can’t really defend the joke. I agree. Unpleasant. Ugly. But I would never, never think it was funny to use a 14 y/o girl as a joke like this God sake.

Too late. He did.

Now here’s the other joke they’re upset about.

So summing up now and I’m gonna ask questions and then answer them.

Were the jokes in question in questionable taste? Of course they were.

Do I regret having told them?

Well, I think probably I do. But you know what? There are thousands of jokes out there that I regret telling on this program.

Would I do anything to advocate or contribute to underage sexual abuse or misconduct?

Absolutely not. Not in a thousand years. Look at me! Do I look like I’m trying to make trouble? No NO! NO!

With that in mind, Governor Palin, if you’re watching, I would like you to consider coming to New York City – you and Todd as my guests – or leave Todd at home. They could be on the show – that would be exciting. So there. I hope I’ve cleared part of this up.

And then he smiles.

Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes.

Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No.

Next segment, stupid human tricks, while he is rubbing water on a grown man’s arm he says, “I wonder what the governor thinks about that”.

Kathy Griffin comes out and says “Sarah Palin is a moron” and that “her husband seems like a tool”.

Letterman: We don’t have a lot more tape and I’m done saying what I needed to say.

This interview shows a lot of things. While you’re watching try to determine where it is that Contessa Brewer is personally insulted and why she herself wasn’t insulted as a woman by the comments. She had John Ziegler on to discuss Gov Palin’s response to David Letterman’s “jokes” about Palin and her “slutty flight attendant’s look” and her 14 y/o daughter being “knocked up by Alex Rodriguez” during the seventh inning of a Yankees’ game. Ziegler is the guy who made the documentary about the media’s lovefest with barry and their trashing of Gov Palin. I wonder what he himself has said about Secretary Hillary Clinton. Palin had been on his new radio show and called Letterman “pathetic” and wondered if he was having a slow news day.

CONTESSA BREWER, MSNBC HOST: And, John Ziegler joins me now. He’s a radio host with KGIL, 1260 AM news radio in Los Angeles, and has previously interviewed Palin and others for his film “Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected.” John, good to see you.

JOHN ZIEGLER: Thanks for having me, always interesting to go out with the people with Barack Obama’s official network.

BREWER: Now, I know, you’re very critical of the way that journalists in general have dealt with Gov. Palin. I want to ask you today about your interview with Sarah Palin…

ZIEGLER: Gee, I wonder why.

BREWER: So let me begin with, do you want to do the interview? Do you want to talk about this?

ZIEGLER: Yeah, I’d be thrilled to.

BREWER: Let me ask you what Sarah Palin’s problem with Letterman was. What was it about the “Top Ten” list that hurt her feelings?

ZIEGLER: Well, I don’t know if her feelings were hurt, you’d have to ask her. She called David Letterman “pathetic” which I think was an understatement because not only did he call her “slutty,” you left out the part where he also joked about her teenaged daughter being knocked-up by Alex Rodriguez in the middle of Yankee Stadium while she was at the game. By the way, I also happened to ask her about Keith Olbermann blatantly lying about her allegedly plagiarizing a speech which she didn’t do. I doubt that that’ll come up on this particular network.

BREWER: It was certainly not going to come up other than your mention in this particular interview because I want to ask you about David Letterman and Sarah Palin. But, again, if you’d like to talk about that I’m willing to go forward with the conversation. Yes?

ZIEGLER: I’ll talk about whatever you want. Hit me with your best shot.

BREWER: Good. In this case, it’s comedy. To talk about her real itinerary in New York, kind of serious. Not really funny. Why did she take such offense? She called him “pathetic,” so she obviously took offense. Why was she so offended by David Letterman?

ZIEGLER: Well, Contessa, since you’re a female, you might be better expert on whether or not it’s appropriate to call a public figure “slutty” with, for no apparent reason, AND joke about her daughter being knocked-up in the middle of Yankee Stadium while she’s at the game…

BREWER: Yeah, you know, it’s actually happened…

ZIEGLER: How would you feel about that, Contessa?

BREWER: John, it’s actually happened to me, and I’m fine, I’m still here, I’m…

Whatever it was that supposedly happened was it done on David Letterman that’s televised across the world? Was her 14 y/o daughter laughed at in a joke about having sex with a man more than twice her age? In New York, a 34 y/o man having sex with a 14 y/o girl is statutory rape punishable by up to 7 years in prison. And Ms Contessa wonders what the mother of the 14 y/o girl is upset about? And the reference to Eliot Spitzer who was thrown out of office because he used prostitutes? How can he even put that man’s name together with a 14 y/o girl’s?

ZIEGLER: Really? David Letterman joked about you being slutty…

BREWER: No, not David Letterman…

ZIEGLER: …and joked about your daughter being knocked-up?

BREWER: …but it’s happened to me publicly.

BREWER: In your interview with Sarah Palin, did you ask her any tough questions, or are you acting now as her spokesman?

Big mistake. Don’t ask a question you don’t know the answer to. She didn’t even listen to the interview.

ZIEGLER: Yes I did…One of the questions I asked her was whether or not she felt dissed by John McCain when he went on Jay Leno, also on NBC back when he was the host of the “Tonight” show, and basically dissed her. And surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise, she gave an incredibly classy answer, showing far more class than clearly most people on this network have.

BREWER: I don’t really know what to do with that. You know, I was, honestly, I’m here to give you an opportunity. I consider myself a common-sense thinker, I haven’t attacked you. And for you to come on and use those sort of insults insults me. Thank you so much for your time, I do appreciate that.

ZIEGLER: Okay, well, you folks are certainly deserving of…

BREWER: Much more news ahead, cut the mike, please.

Where was a single insult to her? Why wasn’t she insulted by the slut comment as a woman? She brought her own comment up so it still bothers her. And how could she gloss over the comments made about Gov Palin’s 14 y/o daughter?

Dave the pig Letterman is trying to get off saying he was talking about Gov Palin’s oldest daughter when he “joked” about an “awkward moment” she had at the Yankees’ game when “her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez”. Problem being it was her 14 y/o daughter who was with her and he referred to that game – not a generic game.

David Letterman: "Joaquin, sorry you couldn't be here tonite"

Now this was one weirded out interview. Joaquin Phoenix was supposed to be promoting his new movie but he couldn't set up the clip or even remember who is co-star was - Gwyneth Paltrow. At first I thought he was preparing for a new role as the Unabomber Ted Kaczynski with his unkempt hair and beard and dark sunglasses. All he was missing was the grey hooded sweatshirt.

I couldn't believe when Dave came right out and said: What can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber?

Phoenix: A stare and a little smile.

Dave: What will you do now?

Phoenix: I've been working on my music.

Dave asked him if it's like the music in "Walk the Line".

Phoenix: No. No. I do hip hop music.

Phoenix: What do you - what do you have them (the audience) on?

Dave: I'm sorry. I'm sorry - what did you say?

Phoenix: What do you gas them up with? Is nitrous kicking around...

...

Dave: Have any fun stories to tell us?

Phoenix: Blank stare and shakes his head.

Dave turns his head and giggles.

Dave asks him to set up the clip and Paul starts laughing.

Phoenix: You're doing fine.

Dave: Thanks. High praise coming from you.

Phoenix: Unintelligible. He meant what's going on.

Dave: We're just having fun here.

Phoenix starts pumping his leg, staring at Dave: That's fun?

Dave: I'll come to your house and chew gum.

Phoenix: Ok, I don' have to. Takes it our and sticks it under the desk and puts his hands up. I won't have to chew the gum.

Dave: No, just relax.

...

Dave: And Joaquin, sorry you couldn't be here tonite.

Phoenix actually smiles. He's funny. He's funny. He's a funny dude.

I found this all very sad considering how his brother River died. I hope he's gotten someone's attention.
