Jungle Patti, Radio Rod and kooky old Aunt Baar Topinka

June 5, 2009

Well the first incidence has taken place. Milorad’s wife, Jungle Patti, brought up one of hubby’s opponents in reference to a contestant – Janice Dickinson – on ‘I’m a celebrity…’. And of course blago’s female opponent heard it was none too pleased and called into The Don Wade and Roma Show (WLS -890) to defend herself. blago is working as an official correspondent for ‘I’m a celebrity…’ aka Radio Rod with the Jungle Beat. He discusses Patti in an effort to keep her there but also as a plug for the show.

Here are their respective words. Somebody actually had a video clip. Blago’s is from WLS and Huffington Post got the Baar Topinka bit.

secrets4fun

PATTI BLAGOJEVICH:

My husband had a campaign where he was running against this woman a little bit like her and he thought of her like a crazy old aunt. He had to kind of like suffer and kind of like, and kind of just like, roll your eyes at. Like she’s the kooky old aunt. You had to be respectful to her because she’s your old aunt.

RADIO ROD:

Yes, it’s Judy Baar Topinka. When you’re in a campaign and you have to be with your opponent from time to time, sometimes they’ll do things to you that you think are unfair OR They’ll twist things. I’m sure they think the same thing about you. For me, I try to get myself in a mindset where I could love my opponent and not let it get personal. To discipline myself, I tried to imagine, like a method actor might, that Judy Baar Topinka was one of my old aunts. That deep down she was a good person and when she would say the things that she would say or do the things she would do, it was more amusing than anything else. And I think that really probably is who she is. You know, crazy aunt in a good way.

Then Roma and Rod say what a good contestant she’d be. He signed off and Baar Topinka called in.

For the record – Milorad beat her and she is more than a tad off but Janice Dickinson is in her own universe.

JUDY BAAR TOPINKA:

This is your crazy aunt in the attic!

That kooky old aunt had three terms in the Treasurer’s Office and never displaced a dollar and gave $230M of unclaimed assets back to people and made a profit. Not bad, uh, for being a kooky old aunt? Maybe Gov Blagojevich — former Gov Blagojevich — and his tarantula-eating wife might, ypu know, consider looking at doing the same thing or they wouldn’t be in such trouble.

That’s disgusting, Roma. Frankly I don’t care what the deal is here. wTo send a loved one off to eat tarantulas and roaches and things like that — that’s disgusting. I wouldn’t send any of my family members like that. To me, they’re worth more than that. It’s just not right.

ROMA: Would you go?

BAAR TOPINKA: Absolutely not.

I just wouldn’t do it. I think it’s denigrating. When you hold public office — especially if you were the first lady of the State of Illinois and the former gov — my God, you’ve got a role to play here. You’re a role model. You don’t go off eating roaches. About the closest thing I ever got to roaches was in Springfield. No way do I want to be close to those things.

BAAR TOPINKA:

Well I think it’s nice that they felt they should be respectful to me because I’ve always been repsectful to people in terms of age.

The fact that they bring it up in this way just proves that they really have no respect for anything. They are shameless. They certainly have no respect for the system. They have no respect for the people of Illinois. It’s all about them. You can’t tell me that as she sits there looking sane, with a bunch of has-beens and wannabes and goofs so she looks better by comparison. This is the same gal with the potty-mouth who was yelling on one of these transcripts of a phone message, you know, ‘Go knock these guys off the Tribune, get rid of these editorial writers if they can’t make a deal on the Cubs then expletive deleted.’ I mean, Who is this woman? Now she’s suddenly playing Martha Washington. I mean, c’mon – alright? She knew what was going on. She’s lucky Patrick Fitzgerald isn’t on her case, too.

Who says he isn’t?

Patti has no way of knowing what’s going

Radio Rod with the Jungle Beat!

June 3, 2009

Can’t keep a good man (or career politician) down for too long. He’s not in the Costa Rican jungle, but he’s found a way for his fans to keep his wife there just so they can hear him on the radio.

Rather ingenious.

Don Wade and Roma Show WLS -890AM has hired him to be their official ‘I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out Of Here!’ Correspondent.

That’s right.

It’s Radio Rod with the Jungle Beat!

Rad Rod will do a live interview in the morning, updating listeners as to how his wife, Jungle Patti, is doing on the show.

If the money wasn’t going to keep their daughters’ parents out of jail, it would be funny.

Radio Rod a success!

March 25, 2009

Radio Rod did great. He was meant to talk - no matter where. He made sure Elvis was the lead in music.

"Good morning, this is former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, and how are you?

Part 1

He starts right off with Pat Quinn raising taxes and exhorts listeners to call theor lawmakers to oppose it.

And there was the obligatory hair joke.

JOSH WEISS (Producer): Are those headphones gonna mess up you hair?

ROD: I brought my brush - I can comb it as soon as we take a break--

WENDY SNYDER: The football's here? I'm very excited.

ROD: You are, uh?

WEISS: But now you don't have anyone to carry it.

ROD: I'm not governor anymore - it's a smaller brush.

He took some calls and then spoke with Ann Compton in Washington about barry's press conference. Praise all around.

Part 2

Talked with DL Hughley, who called in from LA. They hit it off when blago was doing his media blitz and ended up swearing "I f**ked it up" on camera. It was hysterical. Here.

They talked about barry and of course blago went off on his accomplishments - healthcare for every child in Illinois, which he should be congratulated on. (Same with the Autism Bill after he was arrested.) First state in the US. He's done something barry just chats about.

Then he talked with Jay Mariotti about the Cubs and the possibility of the Cubbies moving to Sarasota. That will not go over very well, as folks moved out there in part to go to Spring Training and they already sell out HoHoKam Park. And what would Ronnie do? That would be the final blow.

He quotes "The Boys of Summer" and then brags about how well the Cubs and Sox did when he was still governor. One place he is most definitely not welcome is with Pat and Ron. Ranks right up there with Digger Phelps and Bruce Jenner.

Part 3

He started right off talking about how he was highjacked and how he didn't get to provide a defense! Quinn had a backroom deal with Michael Madigan and Cullerton and a sham impeachment process to get rid of him so they could raise the taxes!

He started ranting about Springfield like he was never there. Then he listed people who are getting double pay as part time lawmakers and have full time jobs in government and exhorts listeners to call their lawmakers to stop raising taxes. That it will only take those 17 "double dippers" to vote against it the tax increases.

Caller thanks him for what he has accomplished and she says he will be vindicated. "Your the best thing that happened to Illinois."

Then he talked with comes the guys from "Rod Blagojevich Superstar". Joey Bland plays Rod and Mike Bradecich plays Dick Mell and Patrick Fitzgerald. Rod tells Joey he's a "I gotta tell ya Joe, I think you're a very handsome young man". He really is a good sport.

Part 4

"Insights from the insides" Reads off the double dippers. And then rants about barry's regular folks.

DON WADE sent an email:

Governor Rod, this could be the most interesting 2 hours in Chicago radio history - almost enough to make me wish we weren't on vacation so we could be there. Almost. Don Wade and Roma, too.

Radio Blago makes debut tomorrow on Don Wade & Roma

March 24, 2009

(2-25) Radio Rod a success!

He's back and sure to blast new Gov Pat Quinn for raising the taxes. Blago will be filling in for Don Wade & Roma, on 3-25 from 7-9am CST on WLS 890-AM. They've had Blago on many times over the years. Blago gave his first post-impeachment interview to them, which kicked off his I wasn't given a chance media blitz. WLS had originally offered him a 2 hour Sunday slot if he would have resigned.

It will be interesting how they screen his calls. He is actually very entertaining on the radio - he's entertaining period.

The complication now is with the Olympic Committee coming to inspect Chicago for consideration for the 2016 games. Blago is set to be indicted on April 7th - his emergency 6 am handcuffed staged for the media arrest resulted in a three month extension to get barry in office and find some actual evidence - four months total. We don't have a chance in hell - though the largest US Arab-American population on the southwest side of Chicago makes a terrorist attack unlikely. The Bridgeview Mosque is where al-Qaeda and Hamas originated.

How many of you know this? How many of you know barry has contributors with connections there through the one and only Tony Rezko? How many of you know that Osama bin Laden's man was there recruiting in the 80's?

Why did Fitzgerald arrest Blago before they had the deal go down?

Answer: barry's people were directly involved including, and most notably, his campaign co-chair and Senate candidate #5, Jesse Jackson Jr.

They have been investigating Blago for years and right when he is about to commit an undeniable felony - they prematurely arrest him?

Press release from Blago's publicist, Glenn Selig:

He's done dozens of interviews since being thrust into the national spotlight--and countless more during his political days. Now, for the first time, former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich will ask the questions when he takes over as guest host on a top Chicago-area radio station, the PR firm that represents the former governor confirmed today.

Blagojevich will fill in Wednesday morning for the vacationing Don Wade and Roma - "the dynamic duo" on WLS 890 AM.

"He's excited about hosting," says Glenn Selig, Blagojevich's publicist and founder of The Publicity Agency. "He's ready for the challenge and promises to be a fair interviewer. He'll also be tough when he needs to be. He's a talented communicator."

"Broadcasters and the public were witness to his talent when he went national to tell his side of the story," says Selig. "He thinks fast on his feet, is energenic [sic] and knows how to speak about complicated subjects so that anyone can understand what he's saying."

Blagojevich is in the midst of writing a highly anticipated book due out in October. The former governor received a six figure advance.

Blagojevich was a guest on the "Don Wade and Roma" show March 17.

Guests for Blagojevich's fill-in show will be announced later today, Selig says.

Still don't know the guests.

blago's lawyer quits

January 24, 2009

Milorad is getting himself deeper and deeper. He's not going to show up for the impeachment trial. He made that perfectly clear on Don Wade and Roma. His advice from Ed Genson was to stay quiet and it worked for as long as it took barry to get through the inauguration. No longer. Blago is out on his full court press blitz, which is fine for him, but not Ed Genson.

GENSON: I have been practicing law for 44 years. I never require a client to do what I say, but I do require them to at least listen to what I say. I believe in this case it would be better off, and I intend to withdraw as counsel in this case. And I wish the governor good luck and Godspeed.

Genson was retained for Blago's criminal proceedings not the impeachment trial. Sheldon Sorosky who was also working on the criminal case will continue. Blago's other lawyers Sams Adam (father and son) have called the impeachment trial a joke since they aren't able to mount any type of defense.

ADAM: The truth of the matter is, the way the rules are set up, we can't mount a defense. The people of Illinois are getting the shaft here because they won"t allow their elected officials to present a defense.

So nobody representing Milorad will be there Monday. Why would the lawyers spend time getting an L in their column? And why would blago miss the opportunity to be on Larry King?

blago press conference (1-23)

January 24, 2009

Part 2 of blago blitz: his press conference. Earlier today he was Don Wade & Romaon WLS 890. His body language has been discussed before. Just watch for the slowing of cadence, selection of words and his blinks. At (5:00) he says accused falsely and not so falsely. At falsely - watch his eyebrows go up. A lie. He is much more convincing on radio - though his cadence gave him away there too. It always does - barry's and axelrod do it...uh, uh, uh. Gibbs laughs and starts sweating. Stephanie Cutter blinks like a ventriloquist's dummy on speed and her neck and chest reddens. Bill Burton is the expert liar of the group. He looks straight into the camera and sounds convincing. But his arrogant trips him up and stuff leaks out without his notice once he gets past the initial denial.

chiujienwu

blago gets tripped up like he did in his initial press conference. Watch and then listen without looking. You can see him lie and then hear the sound of them.

So the principle of whether I stay in office or not is far {shaking head - no it isn't} far less important than the broader principles of protecting our Constitution and protecting the rights of individuals - the rights of individuals accused falsely or {nods =>} not so falsely to give them a chance to be able have their day, and protect themselves, and let the truth decide...what-what the-what in fact is {eyebrow raise} the truth.

What the meaning of is is. Then he actually says to the papers "Get involved." Another blagoism: "done mostly the right thing".

Here he talks about the wrongly accused horse thief, lobby of the Chicago Tribune and a ruling about gagging the press and then takes questions. On the radio he mentioned Pearl Harbor, Teddy Roosevelt and Frank Capra movies. The radio interview was much more entertaining and insightful. And sad. You can see the panic in his face now. I don't know why people find this so funny. His wife got fired (and is being investigated for real estate dealings), he will soon have no income and might end up in jail and they have two young daughters like barry. How is this funny?

minerr1985

Ignore the moron talking head screaming over the questions. He's talking about the tapes, which have nothing to do with the impeachment case. He's not being impeached because he allegedly tried to sell barry's senate seat. Of course, it can't be discounted. Or unheard - the point. If he's impeached, Patrick Fitzgerald has all the time he needs to prepare the case because blagojevich won't be in a position of power.

Why the need for a dramatic morning raid that would make Lincoln roll over in his grave only to ask for another three months? Why arrest blago when he hadn't actually done anything yet? Because barry and his people were involved. Fitzgerald's been investigating blago for years. He's been waiting to catch him on tape and video and when he gets the chance he arrests him before anything down? Not happening.

Blago's bringing up the taxes because he knows they're going up and he can use that later. The only thing the screamer is right on is blago is looking for that one juror. The black community will not forget how he appointed Senator Burris despite Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Pat Quinn and Lisa Madigan's objections. They're going to remember how Rep Bobby Rush - barry's nemesis - stood up while barry stayed silent and let Mr Burris be attacked. Ricky Hendon - somebody barry stole a bill from - is also on blago's side. Not everyone is happy with barry especially with what he did to Rev Jackson or Wright - longtime respected members in the community. Why blago's next stop is WVON.

Here's an update on WVON's poll: How would you rate the President's speech?

F 52.2%
A 28.4%
C 13.9%
B 5.5%

No kidding.
