Bill Whittle talking about the power of iconography. It is really worth your time to watch. Especially if you’re wondering why his cultists are so obamerized.

Whittle breaks down barry’s “packaging” and discusses the barrylogo and how it is gradually replacing the Presidential Seal and DNC logo. Probably because the barry presidential seal didn’t go over well.

What’s a Cult of Personality?

A cult of personality arises when a country’s leader uses mass media to create an idealized and heroic public image, often through unquestioning flattery and praise.

Sound familiar?

Simply put: cult followers are attracted to the packaging – not the content. Aka barry.

Whittle’s example: A thick grill-marked steak and baked potato on a plate vs pureed in a blender. Same ingredients.

The minions who called the NY Times to demand they change their depiction of barry’s pre-dawn mission (Dover) will find his example racist – just like everything else.

Wiki — Stalin is “often credited with possessing the most extensive personality cult of all time”.

There was no reference to barry in the article but it’s clear he has already outdone Stalin and the media has outdone both Pravda and Goebbels.

I never knew what barry’s logo was supposed to “mean”. The NY Times did a Q & A with the designers of the logo (Nov 2008). Late 2006, Axelrod contacted Mode, a motion design studio in Chicago, who then approached graphic designer Sol Sender. Allegedly barry had nothing to do with it.

We saw (and visualized as part of the creative process) buttons, billboards, ads, Web banners, T-shirts and hats. We did not foresee the scope of the variations and the personal “ownership” that emerged, though.

We handed the logo and design assets off to the campaign in the summer of 2007. From that point on, everything that you’ve seen was done by the campaign, including the “demographic” variations of the logo.

STEVEN HELLER: I have to ask, since many agencies that do political campaigns are simply “doing a job,” did you have strong feelings one way or the other for the Obama candidacy?

A: We were excited to work on the logo and energized by the prospect of Mr. Obama’s campaign. However, we didn’t pursue or develop the work because we were motivated exclusively by ideology.

And yet:

A: The design development was singularly inspired by the candidate’s message.

Q: What were you thinking when you conceived this idea?

A: When we received the assignment, we immediately read both of Senator Obama’s books. We were struck by the ideas of hope, change and a new perspective on red and blue (not red and blue states, but one country. [Should have been purple then.] There was also a strong sense, from the start, that his campaign represented something entirely new in American politics — “a new day,” so to speak.

Q: Did you have any qualms about this symbol? Did you ever think it was too “branded” and “slick”?

A: We didn’t, though there were certainly instances where we sensed a need to be careful about its application. We never saw the candidate as being “branded,” in the sense of having an identity superficially imposed on the campaign. The identity was for the campaign, not just for the candidate. And to the degree that the campaign spoke to millions of people, it may have become a symbol for something broader — some have termed it a movement, a symbol of hope.

Wonder what he thinks now and what he thought of nonbarry fans’ alterations.

When will it end?

When will folks stop perpetuating the fairy tale myth created by the barrymedia?

When will the barrymedia accurately report on just the known facts and begin to investigate the unknown ones?

And what will have happened and who will have been harmed by the time they do?

This is how a certain barryblog describes him: single-parent household, left with grandparents, born poor, working-class, was called “the first Black president”.

Where is the mention of the alcoholic, abusive, polygamous father — already married when he impregnated his mother at the same age and in the same unmarried state as Gov Palin’s daughter — who abandoned him to go to Harvard instead of Columbia only to get involved with another white woman – while he was still married to two other women – which is the sole reason he grew up in a single parent household — until AGE 6 — when his mother remarried, taking him to Indonesia, where he got that now politically expedient exposure to the Muslim he brags about about, and was most likely adopted by his stepfather, who at the very least constituted the male half of a NON-single parent household, and when his mother realized the Indonesian schooling was substandard she made the sacrifice to separate herself from her son so he could receive an excellent education at one of the most prestigious [and expensive] prep schools in Hawaii – even now – which was either paid for because he fitted into a little check box as a foreign student or more likely because his typical white person grandparents — as in a double parent household — paid for it, forcing his grandmother to get a job so he could have everything he needed — never going without food, clothing, shelter or most importantly, love — and when his mother wanted him to return to be with her, he refused and asked to stay with those typical white persons, who happily raised a black child throughout the 60’s and 70’s, even though they were typical white person racists — especially his grandmother, who he honored by quarantinimg her so the barryblogs and The American People wouldn’t learn the truth of his life — especially as to his birth and citizenship status — not the mythologized version he created to become a struggling black man in America — even though he lied, more than once, about the exact moment he was “enlightened to his blackness”, when he never expressed such concerns in high school, when he was never exposed to Jim Crow growing up in the most diverse state in the US where, in 1961, his mixed race parents could legally marry and cohabitate and where whiteys “haoles” were discriminated against — and whose birthday he refused to celebrate even though he knew it was to be her last, and when she passed days later — days he could have spent with her and been at her side when she needed him most – refused to return to honor the typical white person racist who raised him so he could become the President of the United States and left his sister alone to grieve and make arrangements and honor the woman who raised him – not her – and instead honored her only when it was convenient – when he went on vacation and he when could use her ashes as a photo op — and then when he became the first biracial — as in just as much European DNA as African — the African half donated by a man who didn’t want to raise him–a man he met once but wrote a 400 book of mythology about, which contained very little and mostly uncorrotably negative information about the whiteys who raised him — which he made his mother proofread while she was dying from cancer, the mother whose bedside, he – her only son – was not by, either – even though she, like his grandmother, died non-emergently and not unexpectedly – the mother he never once thanked in his acceptance speeches for raising him when his father abandoned him — not even in his Inauguration Address on the day he became “the first black president” instead of the less dramatic “first biracial president” by recognizing only his African DNA — his special way of showing gratitude for the selfless love and sacrifice of his typical white persona grandmother, while hypocritically neglecting to admit how he – a multi-millionaire – is and has been allowing his African relatives, who possess the only DNA he claims, to live in abject poverty — except of course his still not deported — even though she was at the Inauguration — illegal alien auntie, who he pretended not to know the whereabouts of even though he sponsored her, even though she donated to his campaign under her real name and was living comfortably – not because of the financial support of her multi-millionaire nephew – but courtesy of the taxes paid by hardworking, law-abiding immigrants who truly needed asylum — and by doing so he forever denied and disrespected the typical white person racists who — despite the way he makes it seem he was an poor, neglected orphan who raised himself alone while fulfilling the dreams of his African DNA donator-only non-father who he met only once – not those of the white mother and grandparents he lived with — were the only DNA responsible for his standing before the world poised to being become not the 100% black African president but the first 50% white European — 50% black African biracial President of the United States?

No kidding.

I haven’t read anything at NEWSWEEK since we started this blog in August (moving here to WordPress in mid-December) and it appears they are as – I really don’t know how to characterize it anymore. It’s gone on too long to still be considered a mancrush or a lovefest. I guess it’s a full blown cultish delusion. Don’t these people have anyone living with them in the real world to orient them as to their madness?

EVAN THOMAS is as enthralled as ever. He still believes barry is actually who NEWSWEEK has propagandized him to be: the obamessiah! The one the cosmos has been waiting for. The one who will make the oceans rise up and celestial choirs sing! The one who will bring Muslims and Jews together in harmony.

Manboobs by definition are not erotic. And both pix were of men so it's not exactly homoerotic...at least the last time I checked. One is a humorous photo on the golf course that I as a golfer appreciate. I have seen many things but never a man (or woman) stripped down to their skivvies. barry however is another matter for reasons I went into. Henrik Stenson is not exactly the leader of the free world - a free spirit, yes. And he has not a trace of manboobs...his are fair and balanced!

This tiny one-time survey shows how important celebrity is in this culture. Nobody knows a thing about barry and he's done nothing to be admired for (and plenty to be disgusted with) but his face and merchandise is everywhere. People know who he is but when asked they can only come up with Change! Latest one I heard say it was Lisa Leslie and she admitted to Tivo-ing coverage and running home to watch it.

Every other person on the list one can name why they would be admired and what they did/have done to be so considered.

Now the Land of Lincoln is the Land of Obama. For $50 you can get his face on a temporary (60 days) license plate. But this merchandising is for a good cause and doesn't go to barry. $40 goes to libraries and the state's i-READ program, a summer reading program for kids. The other $10 pays the inmates' salary pounding them out. How long do you think they will last on people's cars before somebody rips them off and starts selling them on eBay?

Here's Evan Thomas saying that he didn't feel the neediness of Obama on the campaign trail. Does it get any more unenlightened? Obamerism at it's most well-conditioned.

THOMAS: Obama is extraordinarily contained. Most candidates you can feel their neediness -- give me the love, give me the love." (Hands drawing to self. Me. Me. Me.)

barry already had it because you were providing it. What kind of journalistic skills does this man have? He clearly doesn't have any people or body language skills. I used to wonder about folks who get drawn into Nigerian internet and pyramid schemes and cults. Not any longer.

THOMAS: Not with Obama. (He puts his hands over his chest in a pulling in protective fashion. You're not worthy of me.) There was much more self-contained. That he's controlled. It's kind of manipulative and a little cold in a way. It was hard to penetrate his tremendous self-possession. (= EGO = Messiah Complex)

DARIN BRISCOE: ...There's a lot that remains mysterious about him to me. He's a very difficult person to know well....He had to learn, sorta on the fly, that any misstatement he makes anything that he says that could be misconstrued in a negative way was likely to be construed that way by someone.

Where? In their notebooks? And after almost two years spent with this man--every day--a lot is still mysterious to him? And yet those bitter bowling alley babes were to trust barry because they heard him saying nothing at a rally? None of the pro-obama media have a clue who barry is because they've crafted his persona for him. And they don't have a clue what he's gonna do because he's done nothing but string them along and they followed happily like little sheep.

THOMAS: He didn't give us a whole lot to work with ("more" hand motion) in a way, generalistically. Uhh, (head down, smacks lips = doubt), you know, what's that going to be like when he's president? Well...he'll stay cool...I think...(Doubtful face). Which is an admirable and necessary quality in presidents (Voice changes - trying to justify.) Presumably, his White House will be less chaotic than Bill Clinton's was. (Eyebrows up = facial shrug = Not sure and hoping he's right.)

He is still saying I think..presumably...after they have been following him and writing about him in glowing knowledgeable terms since the beginning. Who believes these people? He's starting to doubt himself. But it's too late. The damage has been done and they are going to be held accountable for what happens...more likely what doesn't happen.

THOMAS: The American People are gonna also want to see a human side to him. And they are willing to cut him a lot of slack in the election 'cuz he had this message of hope and because McCain wasn't so great and they wanted change.

Said dismissively - like I fell for it too. I think he has finally realized how he was played. Curious how he phrased that. McCain wasn't so good and so they voted for barry and are willing to give him a break because what other option have they?

THOMAS: But, uh, they're also gonna want to see a real human being inside of obama and he's gonna have to find ways to show that...I think. (Puts head down. Guilty he hasn't seen it.) Uh, and in somebody who's that self contained (shaking his head = he was fooled) it's really hard to know what they are thinking (still shaking) and where they're really going. And (deep frowning = personal worry) I think there's still some question about that. (Nods = certain ending)

Now he has questions and doubt? Will he ever feel remorse of guilt in his complicity in promoting pro-obama propaganda? He got barry the win and now he has to cover himself as a citizen and editor for what he doesn't know about barry. It's good to connect the face with the words. His face gives him away...as do howie's and jonjon's and barry's. barry's convinced that his obamerized masses will follow him no matter what he says and they have...still are. Those of us rational beings see right through his empty words and we are still waiting for you to see the light instead of a halo.

barry's ego has no bounds. His sycophants please his every whim and the obamerized media fights his wars. He would be better suited to a monarchy where he has servants to make his decisions for him. barry, the inaugural King of the United States, whose first order will be: "THAT's him! Off with his head!"

barry's ego couldn't tolerate having the smartest politician in the world as his running mate. That was the first unilateral decision he had ever made in his entire political career. His first decision was made for politically expedient means - not for The American People. His CHANGE! and NO OLD WASHINGTON! had an exclusionary clause for the third most senior (36 year) senator (justified because he doesn't live in Washington), who enjoys egging on the world by announcing that we need to mark his words and gird our loins! because barry's gonna need help during an generated international crisis and to trust him about the decision they're gonna make. Who's generating it? The DNC? Brzezinski and Carter? Barry himself? I already predicted Georgia and Russia.

Ladies and Gentlemen, when are you going to wake up? Many of The American People are willingly being deceived - the others willingly blinded, unable to accept that barry is a complete and utter fraud. My friends, when you finally choose to see, you are going to be disillusioned when your taxes go up, angry you lose your home and end up one of those bitter racists when you lose your job. Because, folks, anyone who speaks out against obamessiah is a racist. And by then nobody will have to tell you I told you so.

Honestly, I do not know what these people are drunk on. It has to be more than Kool-Aid. The look in their faces is absolutely frightening. The look on his transcend narcissism. How can a man truly think this of himself? and how can the people around him allow him to believe. And how stoned is the speech writer?
