Claudine de la Villehuchet, the wife of Thierry de la Villehuchet, the hedge fund adviser who committed suicide after losing $1.5 billion in Bernard Madoff’s ponzi scheme, spoke out in on interview FOX Business. She discusses what kind of man her husband was – very honest, loved his job and loved her very much. Although she did not go into it, she said he said goodbye. He left his brother a note – perhaps her also. She said she had no idea that he was going to commit suicide but that he felt responsible and thought his clients would never forgive him and think he was dishonest. She says she has tried not to be angry at him for committing suicide and that it really hurts. She calls Madoff a murderer, a monster, a psychopath and says she doesn’t know how you can call someone like that a human being because how can he destroy so many people – his own people. When asked, she said she would not want to talk to him.

Still cannot find the final autopsy results and she of course did not go into it.

Bernie Madoff got 15- years which sentences him to imprisonment for the rest of his life…but his victims? They have no recourse – they can do nothing to recover their life savings. It’s gone. Madoff’s lack of cnscinence was clear when he. a Jew, ripped off the LA Jewish Community Foundation of $18M. He also stole money from other charities.

Why can’t these folks sue the SEC for lack of oversight?

Man with no conscience gets to stay in his luxury apartment instead of a cell. Who did more damage: Bernie Madoff or Martha Stewart? Think of all the people who will suffer because of how he ripped off them off. And what type of recourse have they? There should be a special place in hell for someone who steals from charities. Probably why his family gave him up.

Anyway the judge ruled he gets to live in his penthouse under these additional restrictions. From FRANK AHERNS:

Madoff must create an inventory of all the valuable items in his apartment. [a little late]

The government must check the inventory list against the items in his apartment every two weeks.

The government can check Madoff's outgoing mail.

As far as the investor Thierry Magon de La Villehuchet who committed suicide - his brother has an interesting take. I'm not sure how "honorable" it is when you leave behind all the people who lost their life savings because you were had by a Ponzi scheme.

Bloomberg's ALAN KATZ:

Bertrand Magon de la Villehuchet said a sense of honor led the descendent of French army officers and an ennobled shipping family to commit suicide after he put his friends and family in a "catastrophic" financial situation.

"For him, it was a positive act of honor," said Bertrand, 74, who lives in Paris and received a note from his brother after Thierry's death. "He brought his friends and clients, and a lot of them were his friends, to a catastrophic situation.

"I was bragging at parties that I'd only lost 5 percent this year," Bertrand said at his apartment on the Place des Vosges in Paris. "Now I guess I've lost 25 percent."

Theirry's toxicology is still pending from the autopsy.

How many more victims of Madoff will chose to end their lives? And what about the ones who will smoke, eat, drink and drug themselves to death? Abuse their family? Go postal? It's endless.

German billionaire, Adolf Merckle chose to throw himself in front of a train the day before his company was to be sold.

Thierry de la Villehuchet, a hedge fund adviser who lost $1.5 billion in Bernard Madoff's ponzi scheme was found dead in his office from an apparent suicide. Unidentified pills were found but he had used a box cutter to slice his arm, wrist and biceps area. No suicide note. Does money matter this much to people? How can an investor not know he's out $1.5B? How many more deaths will arise from Madoff's evil greed? Hollywood couldn't have made up his name. How can noone not know the money was missing and why is he allowed to live in his posh apartment? How many people have lost everything because of him. I don't understand such greed and lack of a conscience.

UPDATE via AP:

On Monday (12-22), he reportedly told the cleaning crew to be out of his office by 7pm because he was going to work late. The following morning he was found dead seated at his desk in his locked office. He had what appeared to be self-inflicted lacerations on his arm from a box cutter and there was a garbage can nearby to catch the blood. The autopsy was done today but the coroner is awaiting toxicology results before he signs off on the caused of death - sleeping pills were found on the desk. This to me means he hadn't bled out. If he lacerates an artery a garbage can isn't going to catch the arterial spurting. It seems like a strangely passive suicide for a man. Is there an historic method for French Aristocrats? Him telling the crew to get lost is an indicator of him not wanting to be interrupted. Have there been cases of texted suicide notes? The case of the teenager who was allowed to die from an intentional overdose while bloggers looked on and egged him on is depravity at its worst.

This is what our society has become

A mentally ill teenager ingested a cocktail of pills, trained the webcam on himself, laid down on the bed and died while people blogged on. They knew what he was doing - he had posted a very clear suicide note. "Oh, that's not enough to kill you." "Go ahead and do it." It took ten hours before: "He's not moving" "He's not breathing" and then a human being with a conscience notified the site. The site: "we regret that this has occurred and want to respect the privacy of the broadcaster and his family during this time."

We regret.

And the human beings who watched?

His father: "He was a good son. I'm sorry that no one could help him when I was not around to help him myself. I wish they would have given him the assistance that he was crying out for. They did not respond to him. They only did long after the fact....You don't assume [it's a hoax]. You have to find out if it was true or false."

Does someone who posts a fresh suicide note having had made threats in the past sleep ten hours without moving?
