Burgess to Geithner: “I thought you should have never been hired”

November 20, 2009

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is not a very bright man. He doesn’t seem to understand he was in someone else’s house and they’re not going to tolerate his mouthing off. Must say he has grown a spine since his confirmation hearings.

Joint Economic Committee of Congress

Rep Peter DeFazio (D-OR) thinks Geithner should step down, citing his poor handling of the AIG bailout.

Rep MICHAEL C BURGESS (R-TX):

I don’t think that you should be fired. I thought you should have never been hired.

Rep KEVIN BRADY (R-TX)

Conservatives agree that as point person, you failed. Liberals are growing in that consensus as well. Poll after poll shows Americans have lost confidence in this president’s ability to handle the economy. For the sake of our jobs, will you step down from your post?

GEITHNER:

I think almost nothing you said represents a fair and accurate perception of where this economy is today. If any measure of confidence in the financial system, it is substantially stronger today than when the president took office. We would have had a stronger fiscal position if we hadn’t had eight years of paying for our commitments — not borrowing against them.

Why is it barry people always say ‘it’s not our fault’? Democrats have been in control since 2006 but it’s all Bush’s fault. After 10 months, yes it is their fault and the polls back that up.

Rep BRADY:

At some point you have to take responsibility for your decisions.

GEITHNER:

I take responsibility for anything I am part of doing. What I can’t take responsibility for is the legacy of crisis–

Rep BRADY:

This is your budget, this is your bailout, this is your stimulus, this is your–

GEITHNER:

I take full responsibility for those with great honor--

Why does Geithner pretend he had no idea what was going on until he became Treasury Secretary? He was part of the problem as president of the NY Federal Reserve Bank. And he knew all about the bonuses.

WH statement in defense of Geithner:

Secretary Geithner has helped steer the American economy back from the brink, and is now leading the effort on financial reform. His focus today – and ours – is economic recovery and addressing the challenges the American people face everyday.

Japan’s ICHIRO OZAWA: “Islam is better than Christianity”

November 20, 2009

During his meeting with Yukei Matsunaga, president of the Japan Buddhist Federation, Democratic Party of Japan Secretary General, ICHIRO OZAWA, had a few choice words about Christianity and the West.

Christianity:

[Is an] exclusive and self-righteous religion. European and U.S. societies with a (historical) background of Christianity are bogged down.

Not sure with what.

Islam:

It is better than Christianity but it is also exclusive.

Buddhism:

It teaches us a state of mind and way of life from the start about how human beings should be.

O’Donnell: “We get more endowed in bed”

July 29, 2009

I started watching MSNBC again since they started full force after the birthers. I had truly forgotten what sexist pigs they have on and how “Mommy” and Tamron Hall sit there and say nothing. Larry O’Donnell, who professed his love for Sarah Palin after seeing her on SNL, now finds her mentally deficient. [She didn't acknowledge him at SNL.] He and Barnicle are pigs. And Donny Deutsch(bag)’s in the sty next to them. I watched only one segment with him and he tackled both Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton in relation to Maureen Dowd’s blog post, which compared the two. Wonder whose blog she’s ripped off lately? She was on Willie’s new show this morning and Larry has a 6th grade job about her. Sorta what goes around comes around.

MIKA in reference to Larry. (Shattner, totally blotto, performed Palin’s farewell address as poetry. Whatever Shattner has – he’s got too. [Laughs]

BARNICLE: He’s been up all night.

Larry looks like it. Why does he seem to be growing more hair?

GEIST: Crazy Larry’s out today.

LARRY: You know what? I saw my first early, early morning with Willie Geist or whatever his name is.

GEIST: It’s “Way too Early”, pal.

LARRY: This is what I didn’t know. I’m telling you – this is how you promo this show. The promo of the show is: “We get more endowed in bed.”

Barnicle looks at Geist – they’re sitting right up next to each other as usual. Willie Geist would make a lovely transvestite, wouldn’t he?

LARRY: I didn’t know you did that on this show. I would have set my alarm if I knew….

MOMMY: Wow.

GEIST: I’m not going to go there, Lawrence. I was grateful that Maureen [Dowd] was kind enough to come on the show this morning.

Mommy laughs.

GEIST: Let’s go to weather, Mika. How about that?

Willie wants folks to come on his show.

LARRY: It was Maureen’s first use of her bedroom voice on national TV.

MOMMY: Ooooooooh. We’re gonna play a little of that later.

ODONNELL: Please play more.

GEIST: Can we have him removed from the set?

MOMMY: I’m serious. It’s nine minutes past the hour.

BARNICLE: Where’s security?

GESIT We’re on TV right now, do you know that?

BARNICLE: Louis!

MOMMY: Seriously.

BARNICLE: Get Louis over here to have Lawrence taken out off the set!

GESIT: Clear the set.

MOMMY: Alright. Lawrence? [Clears her voice.] We’re gonna go to weather now, thank you. [Makes face]

BILL the weatherman: Wow.

MOMMY: Yeah.

Sends it upstairs to the weatherman.

BILL: Lawrence is making the rest of us look like choirboys. I like this. This is good. Like I’m sane.

***

It was not blurted. It was fully intentional. He says it later as well. And he sits there smirking in to the camera.

Not exactly sure how she meant this.

After the weather segment, Mommy says: Let’s get beyond the Gates story. [Somewhat under her breath looking at Larry.] I don’t know what Lawrence might say.

BARNICLE: Talk fast.

Deutsch: “Hillary being 68 with no problem with a man”

July 29, 2009

Donny Deutsch(bag) continues his sexist parade. It’s clear he has no idea how transparent he is and Tamron Hall is well, Tamron Hall.

After he got done saying that Palin “doesn’t seem to be a complete media whore” he brings up Mo Dowd’s column where she compares Gov Palin to Secretary Clinton.

For the record: there is no one like Hillary Clinton – nor will there ever be. No one – man or woman – is as knowledgeable and prepared as she is – most assuredly not barry. And Clinton runs rings around him as far as presidential bearing. The closest Gov Palin gets to Secretary Clinton is they both have XX chromosomes and both are mothers.

Deutsch’s body language reflects his coarseness. When he talks about both women he makes big gestures in the manner men make pantomiming women with big breasts and of course he has to take on an affected voice. Freud would get a good chuckle.

His take on the two women (his emphasis):

How a few years ago Hillary was seen as [big breast gesture] the paranoid woman, the victim and she was on David Gregory’s Show Meet the Press for an hour as so statesmanly, so in command as Secretary of State and now Palin has taken on the role [affected voice] of the chirpyyou’re doing this to me, you’re doing this to me’.

His theory: (emphasis mine)

I don’t know if that’s a) we need to take somebody down first like we’ve taken Hillary down over the years, before we get her up. Or the difference between one woman who is qualified and one woman who is completely unqualified. And Maureen Dowd pointed out that somebody else said that we wouldn’t be talking about her if she looked like Golda Meir.

Throaty growling: Ha-ha-ha.

They never took “Hillary” down and they certainly didn’t “get her up”. They’ve tried to destroy her for over two decades and she has withstood, excelled and prevailed despite their gyne envy and castration anxiety.

About “fantasy politics” and a possible “face off” in 2016: Sarah vs Hillary.

I like that – that would be fun….That would be television.

And then this. I can’t even describe what he meant (emphasis mine):

And it would be interesting to your point – the sexist thing in reverseHillary being 68 with no problem with a man.

WTH?

He continues, thinking he’s solved the mystery to women in politics – they have to be old and haggardly.

Well some people obviously have age issues there. Be interesting to see how it would play. Although when you look at some of the great world leaders – the Gold Meirs, the Margaret Thatchers that maybe that’s what a woman [he pokes his index finger forward] needs. Strangely, enough. Interestingly, enough.

Verbatim, folks. The poking gesture perfectly clear also.

Deutsch: “[Palin] doesn’t seem to be a complete media whore”

July 29, 2009

MSNBC continues their fascination with all things Sarah Palin. They talked with bowtie-wearing David Hawkings of CQ Politics, who can offer an opinion when he didn’t even know how many children she has and called Trig Palin a “toddler”.

Some of her fans on the socially conservative right think she should be genuinely taking care of her toddler son who has Down Syndrome and probably some of her detractors on the left [laugh] think she should stay in her house and never be seen in the public eye again.

Donny Deutsch(bag) goes one further. He claps when he reads the poll – only 6% thought she should run for president. Then he says she is going to go into radio because she isn’t ready for TV right now because “it’s too much of a jump”. Then he says:

She doesn’t seem to be a complete media whore.

Like him? Sitting there with his face all aglow speculating what it would be like if barry wore tight jeans and smiling at Mika “Mommy” Brzezinski?

His next installment: “Hillary being 68 with no problem with a man”

Secretary Clinton: “I broke my elbow, not my larynx"

July 16, 2009

This was back when the MSM said Secretary Clinton was being shoved aside because she had been incognito with her fractured elbow. 100K miles in 7 months? And had she not fractured her elbow she would have gone to Russia – though Joe Biden seem to have enjoyed his time in the Ukraine.

So the press asked her if she was being edged out and whether things were ok between her and barry. (As if she would say.)

SECRETARY CLINTON:

I broke my elbow, not my larynx.

Same press corps wanted to know if her cast was attached to her.

Lou Pinella on getting "ejected"

July 2, 2009

Cubs' skipper, Lou Pinella, known for his dramatic ejections was ejected for the first time last game. He has been getting a lot of heat on talk radio -- especially WGN -- for his passivity - that he's "lost his fire" and how he has said in the press conferences that there's nothing he can do. Well, to start he told Milton Bradley to go home the other night after his tantrum against the SOX. And now he's sitting Soriano - the other sore point. So it appears he's listening to frustrated Cubfans. Wish he would have listened to us about Mark DeRosa.

Anyway he got ejected last night because he knew he was coming home to face the press. In the pre-game press conference, they made note of the fact that this was the longest he had gone without being ejected - since last season. He deadpanned:

"My wife ejected me a couple of times this winter."

Quote of the day: “Obama Beach”

June 6, 2009

You knew it would happen. But it at least isn’t as bad as “Osama”. Prime Minister GORDON BROWN needs a break. He accidentally said “Obama” Beach. But the thought and the sound of it is very nice.

So next to Obama Beach, we join President Obama in paying particular tribute to the spectacular bravery of American soldiers, who gave their lives on Ob-Omaha Beach, for people whose names they never knew, who faces they never saw and yet people who have lived in freedom thanks to their sacrifice and valor.

It was nothing less than extreme acts of courage by men and boys who loved their country. Especially the ones who scaled the cliffs with the Germans shooting down at them.

Brenden Foster: "Live life to the fullest"

Having a tough day?

Brenden Foster, an 11 y/o boy with terminal leukemia and two weeks to live, had two final wishes: to help feed the homeless and to save the bees by spread wildflower seeds. He asked that the sandwiches be half ham and cheese and half peanut butter and jelly in case someone was allergic to peanuts. A retired pilot asked his pilot and flight attendant friends to sprinkle wildflower seeds around the world on Brenden's behalf. Several days before he died got out of bed, off the oxygen, and went to buy a video game. The Seattle Seahawks' players paid for his funeral.

I compiled quotes I found in other videos. This video is from November 7, 2008. The interviewer Elisa Jaffe (KOMO 4 TV) Bothell, Washington. He died November 21, 2008.

CNN video via TheSexyPatriot

BRENDEN, after seeing a homeless camp:

I was getting back from one of my clinic appointments and I saw this big thing in the middle full of homeless people. And then I thought, I should just get them something. They're probably starving, so, give them a chance. Food and water.

Tis the season to give.

That the country, even the world responded:

I think that is great. You think that's great?

JAFFE: What are the best things about life?

Just having one.

About death:

I should be gone in a week or so.

It happens. It's natural.

I had a great time.

And until it's time--my time comes, I'm going to keep having a great time.

His one question for God about his death:

Why at so young an age? I could have done more.

But if it has to be now, it has to be now.

JAFFE: What's your message to the children, sweetheart?

Live life to the fullest.

JAFFE: What gets you sad?

[Tears flowing quietly] When someone gives up.

Grandmother, Patricia McMorrow:

He has had the joy of seeing all the beautiful response to his last wish. It gives him great peace. He knows that his life has meaning.

He doesn't have much time....24, 48 hours. Course we never know. That's up to God.

He's ready. He's told us that the angels have come three times and he's ready to go with them.

Mother, Wendy Foster:

He's always thought about the better of others - wanting to help. He's never complained about having to got through this. Never.

He's left a legacy and he's only eleven. He's done more than most people ever even dream of doing just by making a wish.

I have been so blessed to have this child - a mother couldn't ask for a better son.

It's devastating. But I find great peace in knowing we've had our time together and that we sill see each other again.

Every night after he was diagnosed he and his mother thought of three good things that happened during the day and they had to laugh.

A chuckle will do. But a fake laugh is not a laugh.

He died in his mother's arms, amazed a young boy could make such a difference. His last wish? To become an angel and accomplish more in heaven than he did on earth. His final message:

Follow your dreams.

Don't let anything stop you.

Quote of the day: “Why don’t you just say you love him”

May 12, 2009

Morning Joe. Mika is running the show with bosom buddies Mike Barnicle and Willie Geist. Politico’s Mike Allen is on giving the morning whatever. They get around to mentioning the White House Poetry Slam tonite.

GEIST: What makes a poetry slam rather than a poetry reading?

MIKA: Mike Allen might know.

ALLEN: You know, it’s a fine distinction from a poetry jam…but I think if the president’s there, whatever it is, it’s cool.

MIKA: Wow. Why don’t you just say you love him?

Quote of the day: "hit Mexico much more badly"

May 8, 2009

This is as funny as recruiterments. When I first heard about it I thought he had said it in Spanish.

barry at the H1N1 townhall for Latinos

NowHampshireTV

BARRY: This H1N1 virus has hit Mexico much more badly than it’s hit us so far.

Quote of the day: “we would have put a fancy seal up”

May 9, 2009 by mattie14

Not sure what happened but a bunch of posts never got posted – especially in regards ot this press conference. An ongoing problem that wordpress can’t fix either.

May 1, 2009

barry made a “surprise” appearance at the daily briefing to announce that Justice Souter had called hism to officially announce his retirement.

WH transcript.

MR. GIBBS: Yes. And –

THE PRESIDENT: Hey. I’m sorry, but Gibbs is screwing this thing up. You know, there’s a job to do — please, everybody, have a seat. There’s a job to do, you got to do it yourself. (Laughter.)

MR. GIBBS: See you guys later. Have a good weekend. (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT: This is kind of cool.

MR. GIBBS: It’s way cooler than it seems. (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT: Yes. Absolutely.

The reason I’m interrupting Robert is not because he’s not doing a good job — he’s doing an unbelievable job….

Then he read a prepared statement that happened awfully quick for “just got off the phone”.

THE PRESIDENT: …And with that, I would like you to give Robert a tough time again. (Laughter.)

And then something worth laughter. After barry left a someone asked Gibbs if he know barry was coming and Gibbs had a truly funny response. I think it reveals how pist Gibbs was when barry took over his playground and all the kids wanted to play with him instead.

Q Did you know he was coming?

MR. GIBBS: Did I know he was coming? No, I didn’t know he was coming.

No, we would have put a fancy seal up and everything.

Highlighting barry’s need to have that sign in front of him whenever he speaks. And of course this ridiculousness.

Quote of the day: “I think you should be in cages!”

April 2o, 2009

Morning Joe and Pat Buchanan are venting their disgust with barry’s good old boy routine with Chavez and laughing much to Mika Brzezinski’s (and I’m sure her father’s) distress. She gets in a good one because they’re in Washington.

Coming back from commercial Pat & Joe are laughing.

JOE: We’re the Neanterthal caucus. Why don’t you all talk about how President Obama is the best thing since Candy Corn and Apple Jacks and snow on a Christmas morn. And we’ll just sit her and smile.

MIKA: I think you should be in cages!

Laughter all around except for Mika who reinterated it.

DL Hughley to Ron Paul: “You are too human to be Republican”

March 7, 2009

DL Hughley interviews Rep Ron Paul (R-TX). The “Rush Limbaugh is the head of the Republican Party” debate continues.

HUGHLEY: Why is his name Steele? You should call him aluminum.

HUGHLEY to Paul: You talk sensibly, you’re very reasonable, you’re very pragmatic in your approach…Is Rush Limbaugh the Republican Party Leader?

PAUL: Philosophically, he has a lot to do with it but technically, no, he’s not that leader. He’s not an elected leader. But philosophically he’s filling a void. I think there’s a void in the Republican Party and somebody is filling it. There are philosphic influences and that’s what Rush Limbaugh does.

HUGLEY: If the word conspiracy is gonna be used let the black guy do it.

HUGHLEY to Paul: You don’t seem like a Republican to me - like that I’ve ever heard. You seem so reasonable…You seem to make sense, which I don’t attribute to too many politicians.

Paul says he’s a “strict Constitutionalist” but he didn’t have the nads to go to the wall with barry and his birth certificate.

HUGHLEY: You are too human to be Republican….You make too much sense - you can’t be a Republican.

Both interviews - Steele and Paul - Hughley remarked that they didn’t seem like Republicans, revealing his own generalized thinking.

What if someone were to say to Hughley: You don’t seem like a black person to me - you seem too reasonable - too human - you make too much sense.

Would it be considered worse than *articulate*?

Hx31963

HUGHLEY: Next we’ll find out if Jesus was a Republican…

Burris: "I've done nothing wrong and I have absolutely nothing to hide"

February 18, 2009

Pertinent text of Roland Burris remarks on ethics probes provided by Clout Street's JOHN CHASE:

I'm new in Washington, ok? They don't know me out there yet. They don't know me yet, OK? Trust and relationships take time to build. But my record in Illinois goes back decades, as do my friendships with many of you in this room. Thirty years I've been in service of this state and you know me, you know the real Roland. I am the real Roland. If I had done the things I've been accused of, I'd be too embarrassed to stand up here in front of you because all of you are my friends.

"I'm from Centralia, you all know me. Ok? You all know Roland Burris. I have a history with you, a record I've built over a lifetime. Thirty years in public life and never a hint of scandal. In all that time and service to Illinois I never asked for anything in return—until today.

"I ask you today to stop the rush to judgment. You know the real Roland.

I've done nothing wrong and I have absolutely nothing to hide.

{Nothing left to hide?]

"Let's talk about the information in the media and about the misinformation they are reporting. If you look at the facts, just the facts without all the spin and all the sensationalism the issue is a simple one, two, three.

"Number one, yes, yes, I told people around the governor that I wanted to serve in the Senate.

Yes, I told my friends, I told the media, I told anyone who would listen that yes I was interested in serving Illinois as a senator.

I told that to the committee and I said that in my affidavit.

"Number two, no I did not have conversations about my appointment—now I'm talking about actually being appointed—with anyone other than the governor's attorney. No one else reached out to me to talk about the appointment and that is in my affidavit also.

"Number three, yes, the governor's brother reached out to me as he'd done over the years to do fundraising when it's (unintelligible) make a call. But I did not give one single dollar to the governor. That simple. So to anyone, any citizen, any politician, any committee organization or agency, let me say this again.

I have nothing to hide and I will continue to be transparent.

[continue?]

When the Sangamon County state's attorney would like to question me, I will be there. I will answer anything asked of me by the United States Senate ethics committee. If the federal authority would like to talk to me about the contacts I had I will cooperate in any way I can.

I welcome the scrutiny.

"What I will no longer do after today—and get this please—now that there is an ongoing investigation it's engaged, the media and their facts drip out in selective sound bites. I'll repeat that. What I will no longer do after today, now that there is an ongoing investigation is engage the media and have facts drip out in selected sound bites. I invite the scrutiny because we need to focus back on the people of this state where it belongs…

You know, you know the real Roland Burris.

Burris then took a few questions from the crowd.

Q. Are all the facts now out?

"They're out from me. I don't know who else they'd be out from. They're out."

Q. Was it wrong of you to solicit funds for Rod Blagojevich at the same time he was considering you for the Senate?
"I was never considered for the Senate."

Crowd murmurs: "What? Huh? What?"

"I was never considered by the Senate."

Crowd: That's wrong Roland! That's not the question!

(Question is then repeated)

"As I said in my statement we would not make any responses to those type of questions. I said that in my statement.

We would not make any responses to that question. Thank you."

A few in the crowd boo and hiss.

I am one of The People of Illinois and I have no idea what he intends to do in the senate other than lie his way there. He really bums me out. I was rooting for him. What's blago saying abut all this. I think he just lost himself a lot of the jury pool he had won over by appointing Mr Burris.

Sunday, February 1, 2009

blago: "I f*cked it up!"

February 1, 2009

Blago on his media blitz stops by DL Hughley and gives a live version of what was on the tapes. blago comes off as a regular guy who just "f*cked it up!" If it was planned to show how it just comes out it was a brilliant move. Either way it worked for him. You can't but help this guy. No matter - what he delivers something memorable. I hope he doesn't act as his own lawyer in his trial.

08blatz

BLAGO: That's gonna get me in trouble

DL: Right. Man, you're already in trouble.

BLAGO: I f*cked it up.

DL: Ay-iii

They laugh and so does the audience.

BLAGO: Oh, shit!

DL: I'm a bad influence

BLAGO: Oh shit - they're gonna throw me out anyway. Who cares?

DL: I'm a bad influence.

BLAGO: Alright, let's go.

DL: This is my best day ever at this job. F*ck the governor.

Quote of the day: "I'm concerned about the size of the package...contraceptives...stimulate...growing"

January 23, 2009

I don't know who House Majority Leader John Boehner is but it appears he had quite the liquid lunch or breakfast. He's referring to barry's $825B stimulus package and uses an interesting mix of words. I'm not sure of the pronunciation of his name either...

JOHN BOEHNER:

I'm concernd about the size of the package.

And I'm concerned about some of the spending that's in there.

How you can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on, uh, on contraceptives?

How does that stimulate the economy??

You can go through a whole host issues in this bill that have nothing to do uh, with uh, growing jobs in American and helping people keep their jobs!

Quote of the day: "I take one bullet and put it right in him. Bam!"

December 29, 2008

Cris Carter, former NFL wide receiver and ESPN sports commentator is one of the many who doesn't like Terrell Owens (TO) and has not been shy saying so. But his comments this time have gone right over the top. He was talking on ESPN'S Mike and Mike in the Morning:

courtesy of blacksportsonline09

CARTER: If it was me, I'd get rid of TO. TO got to go from the beginning. Right from the giddy up. I take one bullet and put it right in him. Bam!

How else does he mean this? According to Sporting News' CHRIS MOTTRAM, Carter said it a second time later in the day on the Tirico and Van Pelt Show:

CARTER: If I got a gun I got one bullet in it, I shoot T.O. right now. Right on the spot. I have a press conference my first day they hire me, I have him come, I put a bullet right there sitting in him.

Expected statement from Carter via ESPN:

CARTER: Obviously, I did not mean this literally. It was not the right choice of words. I was simply recommending a personnel decision to improve the Cowboys.

And to the kids listening?
