Original story (video + pix)
What's it's all about Alfie?
Alfie's mum speaks out
Alfie's dad remind you of anyone?
What punishment should Alfie & Chantelle's parents face?
The law has finally stepped in with Alfie
Right when I didn't think it could get more disgusting - it has. Poor Alfie has been taken complete advantage of and used by both families to make some cash. It is beyond revolting. One has to wonder if Chantelle dreamt it up before she even had "sex" with Alfie. As I have said from the beginning, why is that not considered rape? The kid doesn't even weigh 90lbs and she is at least 50lbs heaver and foot taller. Imagine if it were reversed and a worldly looking 15 y/o boy got a 10 y/o looking 12 y/o girl pregnant? What would be the outrage there? It's much too early in the day to start a rant.
Anyway it was a story I had read yesterday but was hoping was not true. Here are some interesting comments by folks - some of the things alleged are disgusting concerning the maternal grandmother's role. DNA will tell the truth and by then little Alfie will have been disgraced on every front.
The law has finally gotten into it. A High Court judge has slapped a ban on the press to prevent further release of details that will remain until March 10th.
From the UK's Press Gazette's Paul McNally:
The order, made by Mrs Justice Baron in the Family Division, does not prevent publication of details already in the public domain, but bans the revelation of any new information.
Like those teenagers claiming they're the dad are going to keep quiet? And the DNA results won't get leaked?
It said the ban had arisen "as a result of press intrusion" and also "because of allegations made by at least two others that they may be the putative fathers of Maisie".
"The court received information that the private and family life of the mother and baby had been disrupted to such an extent that the court was concerned about the mother and baby being unable to lead a normal family life," the statement said.
"It was equally important to the court that the young putative father should be able to live his life and return to school."
And a press watchdog group you know like the ones we used to have here when we still had an uncorrupted press. Now our "factcheck" dot coms are good enough for Supreme Court exhibit A. The UK's Press Complaints Commission is investigating the alleged payments by [tabloids] The Sun and the People to the parents of Alfie Patten. From their website:
Clause 6 (iv) of the Editors' Code of Practice says:
"Minors must not be paid for material involving children's welfare, nor parents or guardians for material about their children or wards, unless it is clearly in the child's interests".
Newspapers are allowed to breach this rule if there is a demonstrable public interest. The PCC will make a public ruling on the matter when it has completed its investigation. The PCC will make a public ruling on the matter when it has completed its investigation. The Commission has powers - under which it is conducting this inquiry - to launch investigations of its own volition.
It's not like they have much of a choice. Anyone who saw this picture of "the parents" was disturbed by it.
Alfie Patten 13, Chantelle Steadman, 15, with 4 day old Maisie Roxanne, 7lbs 3 oz
Is this a child who can consent to sex with a girl a foot taller and 50 lbs heavier and clearly much more worldly? Does he look like he initiated whatever it was that was alleged to have happened? That he even has a clue - now?
Found these quotes funny as far as the phrasing - the situation is beyond tragic.
COLEEN NOLAN: Does her mum really think that Chantelle is worth so little that it is OK for any local oik to use her then clear off home for his Coco Pops?
BRIAN READE: The claims from 14-year-old boys that they "slept" with Chantelle Stedman. No you didn't. You had a quick session behind the bushes, then went home for chicken nuggets.
