Gov Pat Quinn met with Rep Danny Davis, State Sen Ricky Hendon, Ald Ed Smith, Ald Walter Burnett and other black leaders to discuss Senator Roland Burris in an attempt to “unify” the democratic party. Quinn came out with his mind changed - there will be no push for a special election.
GOV QUINN: [Burris] is not going to to step aside. That’s his decision. I think we need to move on from that. I don’t think there’s anything that anyone can do if he refuses to resign. Now that’s his choice.
He had to move on or he will never get elected. He needed a reality check that his appointment came with an expiration date.
