Susan Boyle: BGT’s “Memory” (video)

Updated: Susan Boyle posts/videos/interviews (5-24)

May 24, 2009

A few nerves at the beginning – a pretty high key. Loved how she smiled (1:57), enjoying the moment in the moment, before the ending, which she kills. Judges comments included.

Not sure how long it will last. But great news for all of us in the US who couldn’t watch. 60 Minutes showed her doing that little wiggle like she did during her audition when Simon asked her who old she was. Also showed her face the moment she was told she was getting in to the finals. She looked shocked, humbled and pleased.

Before Ms Boyle sings:

SUSAN BOYLE: All my life I’ve always been driven to prove myself. That I can be accepted. That I’m not this worthless person. That I do have something to offer.

Pebbles makes a cameo.

SIMON COWELL: I don’t think she’s really got a clue as to the impact she’s made.

SUSAN BOYLE: YouTube is feeling…can’t understand. She laughs.

SIMON COWELL: The whole world is watching Susan Boyle sing tonite. I wouldn’t want to be standing where she is right now.

SUSAN BOYLE: Being on Britain’s Got Talent is a chance to turn things around. To fulfill a dream. I just want that chance to perform before the Queen.

And if she were to lose, the Queen wouldn’t invite her anyway? It would be political insanity. Anyone know if the Queen has Ms Boyle’s recording on her presidential ipod?

How did it feel?

SUSAN BOYLE: Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.

How’s it been over the last weeks?

SUSAN BOYLE: Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable.

Did it add to the pressure tonite?

SUSAN BOYLE: What pressure? It was really good tonite. I really enjoyed myself tonite.

You did.

SUSAN BOYLE: I did.

Most importantly you enjoyed yourself.

SUSAN BOYLE: I enjoyed every second, and I would do it again.

PIERS: Susan, I think you look absolutely beautiful tonite.

SUSAN BOYLE: Thank you very much.

PIERS: More importantly, I think you sang beautifully, as well. And the great thing about you that we’ve all realized is that when the world was going through a pretty tough time and was looking for hope and inspiration along came Susan Boyle to provide it. And on behalf of the whole world–because they’re all watching you tonite–thank you, Susan.

SUSAN BOYLE: Gestures to the crowd with her palms up (like the Pope does) and laughs.

Audience laughs.

AMANDA: Laughs. Susan, you’re turning into Eva Peron!

Crowd laughs.

SUSAN BOYLE: Laughs. I know.

AMANDA: I am just so relieved that it went so fantastically well…You nailed that performance. I am so proud of you and I am so proud of how you represented Britain so brilliantly…So, well done.

SUSAN BOYLE: Thank you.

Simon Cowell finally apologizes. Probably better that he waited and did it in front of the world because the world saw a gracious forgiveness done in a humorous sincere way.

SIMON COWELL: Susan, you are one special lady….I just want to apologize because of the way we treated for you before you sang the first time. [She shrugs like no big deal.] You made me and everyone else look very stupid.

SUSAN BOYLE: Laughing. I know nothing. I know nothing. [inaudible]

Audience laughs.

COWELL: I am very happy for you. I am very proud of you.

You must be over the moon.

SUSAN BOYLE: Looks to the crowd, takes a moment and nods. I’m very happy to be here. Thank you for all for all your support.
