Susan Boyle: “Memory” (BGT’s live semi-finals)

May 25, 2009

A lovely smile.

Susan Boyle

Ms Boyle said before the show that she wasn’t planning on transforming herself.

SUSAN BOYLE: I just want people to see me for who I am, and do my best at singing the song, that’s what I am focusing on.

But things didn’t go so smoothly in rehearsals. According to Britain’s Got Talent website, she almost wiped out on the way to the microphone. The fix? They scored the soles of her shoes. Explains why she didn’t stride out like she did at her audition.

SUSAN BOYLE: I got a bit of shock during rehearsals – I nearly fell flat on my face!

And she was none to pleased with the “touch ups” the makeup folks did.

SUSAN BOYLE: Every few minutes, someone comes up to me and asks me to [go] back to make-up. I’ve been in there three times already – but I keep going back again. It’s all going to be very thick by the time we get to show time. It’s a job that’s never finished - like painting the Forth Bridge.

Her goal is to sing for the Queen at Britain’s annual Royal Variety Show. And then there’s the tidy sum of £100,000 ($159,000) that goes to the winner.
