Michelle Bernard (44) on feminism
PBS to the Contrary spliced video
Michelle Bernard on SHRC's foreign policy experience
A curious thought. If your ancestors hail from Jamaica, why are you African American? Is every black person on this planet considered African whatever? Do natives of Jamaica refer to themselves as African Jamaicans? It's crazy.
She is married to CNN correspondent, Joe Johns - who used to work under Tim Russert.
Found this interesting (6-28-08) article on TOY SOLDIER by TS:
Discussing Bernard's idea of "feminism". She's not one who hates men or thinks they're all rapists. What kind of feminists are these? And if one were to say I like black women but not those angry black bitches? Anyway read the whole article. There's a video link of her but it's no longer there. I have to wonder why.
TS: "However, apparently doing counts as anti-feminist, or at least that is the claim made on Feministing. Jessica Valenti linked to an interview Michelle Bernard recently gave while promoting her new book. What is interesting is not that Jessica and the majority of the posters on Feministing consider Michelle Bernard anti-feminist. What is interesting is what Bernard says in the interview about what she thinks feminism is. One can view the video here, but I have taken the time to transcribe her comments (minus the "uhs" and "ums"):
Q: Do you consider yourself a feminist?
MB : I do… sort of. It depends on how you use the term. I am, I would say I would be the sort of feminist that you would've seen in a much — in a bygone era that was fighting for equality for women, that was fighting for women's suffrage, and that was fighting for the abolition of slavery.
I am not the type of feminist or the type of woman who sees every man walking down the street as a potential rapist. I am not the type of feminist that dislikes men. I am the type of women that just wants an equal society. There are some people that get locked into that camp where everything is anti-men. Well, I have a son and I have a daughter and I love them equally and I want them to have equal opportunity. So if that's how you define feminism, that's me!
In contrast, note Jessica's response:
In the clip above, Bernard explains that she's a "real" feminist - you know not like those nasty hairy man-hating kinds that want women to excel at the expense of men.
She also notes that women who call IWF anti-feminist just "think it's cute to throw bombs." I'd hardly say that calling IWF anti-feminist - an organization that exists to bash feminism and convince women that sexism is actually fantastic for them - is throwing bombs. It's more like…lobbing marshmallows.
Just take this description of Bernard's book:
Though many influential groups feed on the prevailing myth that women are oppressed, most women are healthier, wealthier, and better educated than ever before. Michelle Bernard, the president of the Independent Women s Forum, lays out the facts in a new book that will make life harder for radical feminism's ideological hucksters.
Oh you caught us! We're such hucksters…trying to peddle the myth of equality! For shame.
Here's the curious thing - she thinks because BO became president her daughter can be too. How naive is that.

Male Minority Group??
Male Minority Group
Will Fitzhugh Columnist EdNews.org
6/17/2008
Male Minority Group
It is seldom acknowledged that the largest Minority Group (MG) in the United States is Males. There are several other important Minority Groups (MGs) of course, such as the Iraqi MG, the German MG, the Vietnamese MG, the Irish MG, the Brazilian MG, the West Indian MG, the Hmong MG, the Danish MG, the Jewish MG, the Apache MG, the Kenyan MG, the Italian MG, the Mexican MG, the Haiti MG, the Arapahoe MG, the Hopi MG, the Somali MG, the Cuban MG, the Hindu MG, and the Korean MG, to name just a few.
There are many important sub-groups within the Male MG, of course, including the Costa Rican American Male Group, the Apache American Male Group, the Comanche American Male Group, the Chilean American Male Group, the Havasupai Male Group, the Pakistani American Male Group, the Tibetan American Male Group, the Scottish American Male Group, and so on, including the males from the groups in the first paragraph, and from scores and scores more American Male MGs.
The Male MG exhibits a number of serious consequences of its marginalization and oppression. Members of the Male MG are disproportionately given drugs for ADD in schools, they are incarcerated as adults at much greater rates than the majority group, they are more likely to be abusers of alcohol and other dangerous drugs, and they are much more likely to drop out of school, and of those who do go on to higher education, fewer complete it.
The United States has a long history of accommodating MGs, from the Quaker MG's policies of toleration toward the Pennsylvania Deutsch and the local Siberian-American population, to Washington's letter to the Connecticut synagogue, and so on, right up to the present day. Apparently there are several hundred foreign languages spoken in the New York Public Schools now, and many of these foreign-language speakers are, after all, Male.
Women are the Majority Group in the United States of course, and they also make up the majority of the teachers in our schools and of the students in our colleges and universities. While they participate in at least half of the divorces in this country, it is not clear that there is much awareness on their part of the plight of the Male MG. One hears frequently: "You Go, Girl!" But hardly ever does one hear, "You Go, Guy!" And this is just one small symptom of the Majority attitudes toward the Male MG that contribute to its difficulties in our society.
[Participate in at least in half the divorces? Plight of the male MG?? Majority of teachers in schools? And how many tenured professors? You, go guy?]
What is interesting is that Diversity and Tolerance, which the country has been working on since the Founding, have only recently been discovered, it seems, by our educators in the schools. Diversity and Tolerance have been introduced into the curricula as though the United States and its citizens have not understood their importance since 1620 or so. One can only wonder, however, how many classes on Diversity and Tolerance in our schools now take into account the struggles and pains of the largest minority group we have.
Struggles and pains of the largest minority group we have? Earth to skippy!

Condolences to Tim Russert family
Your grief must be unbearable. We are sending you our prayers and sincerest condolences -- he will be greatly missed.
For him to pass during this historic election year, when so many new voters have become interested in politics and looked to him for truth and understanding, is a cruel, devastating loss to the country and the world.
It will difficult to watch the conventions and election night without his infectious smile and childlike excitement guiding us. There was no one like him, nor will there ever be.
The world has lost it's Monsignor of Politics.
You were blessed. As were we.
We're so sorry.
We're so sorry.
We're so sorry.

Racial code word: "exotic"
This world has gone mad. Say anything about Obama and it's racist. Or as Herbert says: HE'S BLACK! HE'S BLACK! So what. HE'S A FRAUD! HE'S A FRAUD! Hmm...is fraud a code word? Yet?

Ron Paul: "'Change' means nothing."
Washington, DC
As to Obama's chant. "Change means nothing - it's just a word. It's a cliche. To repeat it means nothing. You have to ask: 'What are you going to change'? And I would argue, you offer no change....Do you care about sick people using marijuana? Has he come out on that?"

Brazile nasty email
FRANNIE: Hello Ms Brazile: I apologize for all the nastiness Clinton supporters have vented on you. They represent a derange faction and don't speak or reflect the majority of Clinton supporters. Our group has nothing but love for you and wish you well. We heard your words on CNN and wonder how much you meant them?
CNN Transcript June 1, 200811,295 Clinton supporters who had planned on writing her in on the ballot will vote for Obama and actively campaign for him until November. Not a threat or ill will or anything else. We're simply curious if you will really stand behind your offer. None of us would ever vote for McCain.
BRAZILE: Anderson, you know, I'm in -- this is Sunday. I will give her my delegate if that would tell them to show some love. Show some unity. They can have my vote. I'll cast it for Hillary Clinton. But don't tell me after we have sat down for two days spent the entire week getting e-mails from people who are strangers threatening us if we don't do what they want us to do they're going with John McCain.
Your words. Your choice. Your integrity. Thank you for reading this and enjoy this historic day! Whatever happens - It's been a long, a long time coming...
BRAZILE: To let you know how much I appreciate your email and tone, Sen Clinton has not asked me for my help or support. I have gone out of my way to be gentle and kind, but there is nothing they want from me or others who stayed neutral or undeclared. I saw it in the Rules meeting and understood on Sunday what I know right now -- they don't want it. For the record, I reached out to Maggie Williams before Sat and asked if they needed anything. Let me now do what is right starting tomorrow. Tonight, i salute the season and will not declare for anyone.FRANNIE: Thank you, Ms. Brazile, for holding off until tomorrow. Please make sure your vote is meaningful, 2115 or so, because it will signal victory for Clinton supporters as well. (Frannie didn't quite get how the voting went.) Congratulations to you, your community, and to all Obama supporters! I pray Senator Obama is wise enough to use you high up in his administration. You've earned it. Any help in getting CNN to give Senator Clinton break for once, if only tonight, would be greatly appreciated. Enmity, too, shall pass. Peace. 9They didn't give her a break and Brazile was part of the nastiness.)
God bless you and I pray you are indeed sincere.
BRAZILE: Your email and others are unproductive and disrespectful to Senator Clinton. Thus, I understand and appreciate the desire to inject your anger on the last day. But you must understand this, we are human beings as well with deep emotions as well that must be acknowledged.Ouch! What? Frannie sent a confirmatory email saying that she was indeed sincere and blamed the anger on the email being sent to the wrong person. She couldn't find the last one to include here.
And then there's Brazile's tirade at the rules committee about people in this room she nods her head and eyes toward the pink-faced men next to her having made the rules - generalizing to the whites. Could you imagine someone making a face and dismissive gesture like that to Mrs Obama? Someone should remind Brazile that women weren't included in the "all men are created equal" either. And that black men voted in 1870 and held office - in larger proportions than any time hence. Think about that. Women couldn't vote until 1920 and they marched and got beat and jailed. It doesn't lesson either - it just goes unnoticed. Black men could vote in the South - although there were literacy tests and a poll tax - they had the right. Blacks in the North voted between 1870 and 1920 when women did not have the option of literacy tests or anything else. The first black man to vote did so in New Jersey.
See here for more on suffrage.

Quote of the day: "moment when the rise of our oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal!"
barry's appoints himself the democratic nominee in St Paul, Minnesota aka the fist bump speech. He is convinced he is the obamessiah...and so is the MSM and the obamerized masses. Honestly, I do not know what these people are drunk on. It has to be more than Kool-Aid. The look in their faces is absolutely frightening. The look on his transcend narcissism. How can a man truly think this of himself? and how can the people around him allow him to believe. And how stoned is the speech writer?

BARRY: America, this is our moment!
This is OUR TIME!
Our time to turn the page on the policies of the past!
Our time to bring new ideas and new energy to the challenges we face!
Our time to offer a new direction for this country that we love!
The journey will be difficult. The road will be long.
I face this challenge... I face this challenge with profound humility and knowledge of my own limitations.
But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people.
Because if we are willing to work for it and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that:
THIS was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless!
THIS was the moment when the rise of our oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal!
THIS was the moment when we ENDED A WAR and SECURED OUR NATION and RESTORED OUR IMAGE as the last, best hope on earth.
THIS WAS THE MOMENT!
THIS WAS THE TIME we came together to REMAKE this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals.
Cardinal Francis George removes Father Pfleger
Cardinal George removed Father Pfleger from St Sabina's. He didn't go easily. Background: In March Obama initially separated himself from Wright but this time he had to completely sever himself from the church itself. Recall Pfleger went off on 3-23 defending Medger and Malcolm and Wright and Farrakhan. Obama said on The View 3-28 that he would have quit the church if Wright wasn't retiring. Then Wright let loose at the press club at the end of April and that was it. Pfleger couldn't help himself so he went off on Hillary (5-25) time. Barry waffled (5-30) and then quit the church(5-31).
Here's Cardinal George's statement via LYNN SWEET. (emphasis added)
I hope also that the life of St. Sabina’s parish may continue in uninterrupted fashion. Fr. William Vanecko, Pastor of St. Kilian’s parish, will be temporary administrator of St. Sabina’s and will assure the full complement of ministerial services during this period. I ask the members of St. Sabina’s parish to cooperate with him and to keep him and Fr. Pfleger in their prayers. They are in mine.To put recent events in some perspective, I have asked Father Michael Pfleger, Pastor of St. Sabina’s Parish, to step back from his obligations there and take leave for a couple of weeks from his pastoral duties, effective today.
Fr. Pfleger does not believe this to be the right step at this time. While respecting his disagreement, I have nevertheless asked him to use this opportunity to reflect on his recent statements and actions in the light of the Church’s regulations for all Catholic priests. I hope that this period will also be a time away from the public spotlight and for rest and attention to family concerns.

Brazile: "My mama taught me to play by the rules"
[The original video that I transcribed to got taken down. So the times are a little off.]
At the farce that was the DNC Rules Panel, discussing MI & FL, Donna Brazile, Superdelegate and Rules Committee Member lectures Governor Blanchard.
videocafeblog
BRAZILE: This goes to what my mama taught me. (evil look 2:53) My mama - you mentioned your mother - if I was doing what I normally do on Saturday, I would give you something to take home [like she said to Begala] - but I'm not. But my mama always taught me to play by the rules and respect the rules. My mama taught me...when you decide to change the rules, especially, middle of the game, end of the game, that is referred to as cheating.
[Another evil face 4:04]
Angry: So, in that spirit, in the spirit of unity that we all come here today, we come hear in the spirit of unity- we come here in the spirit - not because we everything that we will do here today will be reflected in all of the rules that we have...
(4:12) she nods her head to the pink-faced old men next to her - she's clearly being racistly dismissive - how many of the white men in the room wrote the constitution? FYI angry Donna, women didn't have the right to vote when they wrote it either and black men voted 50 yrs before any woman could.
,,,and there are people in this room people who have written these rules since the beginning of time and I am sure WE will change them before the end of time...but we come in the spirit of unity because we come from a party that have worked for at least the last 4 decades, especially since Lyndon Johnson said voting is the lifeblood of our democracy. He put his pen on a document that came about because people marched and they died for this right to vote, so I just hope that as we talk about fairness and what's flawed and what's principle and what reflects the true intention of the voters, that we also pay tribute to those who might have written in and those who may have not have showed up because they didn't think their vote would matter that day--so we reflect them all. And I'll compromise and I just wanted to put that on the record as well.
Race in America is a goddam joke. Black men had the right to vote since 1870. Johnson abolished the conditions that blacks had to meet in order to vote. The first black man vote in 1870 and and women 50 yrs later. Blacks were still voting between 1870 and 1964. Women didn't have a chance to pass the literacy exam or pay a poll tax and when they marched they also got beaten and jailed.
How many black men stood next to them in the fight?
And how many white woman stood hand in hand with black men on the march?
The primaries were forever tainted by the back room brokering. Except this time it wasn't just pink-faced men. After their closed proceedings - a violation - they came out and give Obama delegates from a state in which his name was not on the ballot. Hos is that not cheating by any mama's standards?
The nomination of barry was fundamentally illegal. Thus the entire process is tainted start to finish.
Step back and think if the colors were reversed. Never happen. That is prejudice. 'That is The Double Standard.

Pfleger's endorsement removed from Obama website
Father Michael Pfleger
Senior Pastor, St. Sabina Church, Chicago, IL
I'm concerned by issues of poverty and issues of justice and equal access and opportunity especially when dealing with children and education and healthcare. Also, the war in Iraq is non-negotiable: end it! The faith community has to be a prophetic voice to bring us to where we ought to be as a country. Its voice should call every individual to be their best and not assimilate into anything less. Obama is calling back those who have given up and lost hope in the political system both young and old in the belief that we can fix it. He has the intellect for the job and I haven't heard anyone since Robert F. Kennedy who is causing such an emotional and spiritual awakening to the political possibilities.

Obama obamantes on Pfleger rant
May 29, 2008
PFLEGER: I regret the words I chose [not the message behind them] on Sunday. These words are inconsistent with Senator Obama's life and message, [then why didn't barry say so?] and I am deeply sorry if they offended Senator Clinton or anyone else who saw them.
IF does not equal an apology.
OBAMA: As I have traveled this country, I've been impressed not by what divides us, but by all that that unites us. That is why I am deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger's divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn't reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause.
Classic obamanating. Where in there is a personal disavowal or disgust? Nobody cares. Remember the I could no more reject Wright as I could my typical white person grandmother? "I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy and, in some cases, pain."
Only the statements wright got caught saying. Not wright's afrocentric black liberation that he spouted from the pulpit at barry's church. Not the man himself. Not the judgment he made to pick that pastor and that church. Not the judgment that it took him so long to cut wright loose from an official campaign appointment. N0t the judgment that he chose to lie about.
(3-14-08) "Once I saw them I had to be very clear about the fact that these are not statements that I am comfortable with. I reject them completely -- they are not ones that reflect my values or my ideals or Michelle's."
Philly speech (3-18-2008): Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in the church? Yes.
Previous statement by Barry on March 13th (a day before Obama had to dismiss him from his official campaign position): "I don't think that, uh, my church is actually particularly controversial." And previously he said "Rev Wright is like an old uncle who says things I don't agree with."
Where is cringing in response to wright's statements that he says he knew about - the ones he said he wouldn't go back because of ? It took three attempts to finally get rid of Wright - which he never repudiated until the Press Club performance where Wright said all the same things and more. what kind of judgment was it to let him speak? This episode with Pfleger happened after he "distanced" himself from wright. Pfleger was there at the press clube. he saw what happened to wright and ranted from the pulpit anyway. and did barry cringe? Nope. He obamanated like he did with farrakhan.
US Senator from Illinois and longtime friend and staunch supporter of barry, DICK DURBIN: "Mike is a friend and he went overboard." No admission that it was wrong. No repudiation. Just that he took it a little too far and it happened to reach the MSM.
WOLFSON: Divisive and hateful language like that is totally counterproductive in our efforts to bring our party together and have no place at the pulpit or in our politics. We are disappointed that Senator Obama didn't specifically reject Father's Pfleger's despicable comments about Senator Clinton, and assume he will do so."
Did he? Nope. Did the MSM push him? No. Did the barry surrogate Hillary bashing go unpunished again? Yep. Just like it did with 'Hillary ain't never been called no nigger." Said after barry appointed him to official campaign position and yet it took till 3-14 to get rid of him. barry is a fraud. I am going on record again. He is a fraud and I am not fooled by him. I can't stop him but I haven't been sucked under or drank the Kool-Aid of white guilt and black silence. Whatever happens is on the head of the DNC, the pro-obama MSM, axelrod, obama supporters and the obamas.Dowd: "Sexism is poppycock.'
This woman is supposed to have won a Pulitzer Prize. I find that hard to believe. She tries to pass herself off as witty with literary references but it's obvious she tries to use certain words and devices like alliteration is completely forced. Her writing has no sound of truth.

Sexist quote of the day: "Hillary is a drunk party guest"
Morning Joe
Tucker Carlson refers to Sen Clinton as a "trapped animal" & "she's in feral mode" & "a drunk party guest". This man has a very strange fascination with her...he is afraid of being castrated and is intent on sharing that every opportunity he gets. Take note of the laughing. And that Tucker admits the media's in the bag.
Transcript via Media Matters (emphasis mine)
BARNICLE: Let's get back to Senator Clinton. What about this aspect of her campaign: How much credence do you put in the theory that some hold that in her heart of hearts, as a political person, as a politician, she knows that this is it, in terms of her and the presidency, this is the last, best, only shot she's ever going to have at it?And you never say anything, especially sitting next to Joe Mrs Spitzer-like when Joe said Matthews didn't have to apologize for his comments about Clinton being a senator only because Bill fooled around.
CARLSON: Look, she's a trapped animal, there's absolutely no question about it. As I've thought to myself many times, if you've ever tried to get your cat in a box, you know what Hillary Clinton is doing right now. [Screeching cat noise], with all four paws out, all the hair standing up? Look, she is in feral mode.
BRZEZINSKI: I don't know what to say.
CARLSON: This is true, you know this is true. One helluva compliment. Tucker has an issue with strong women probably all women. The bowties were the first tip off. As Freud said, it's a tipoff of a small penis. He thinks women's resentment with men started with Lorena Bobbitt and is afraid of being castrated by Sen Clinton...as if she would go near that pansy.
BARNICLE: Tucker Carlson, ladies and gentlemen.
CARLSON: And I say that as a compliment, I admire her tenacity. I do.
BRZEZINSKI: I'd just like to point out, I have scars from trying to do that to one of the cats that I own.
CARLSON: Yes. OK, then you know how Obama feels right now.
[...]
BRZEZINSKI: Very cute. All right. Well, right now the candidates are Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, the cat in a box as Tucker so aptly put it, and John McCain. And the Republican and the Democratic front-runners definitely going at each other on foreign policy, we'll have a lot more to talk about that, the editorials are great today.
[...]
CARLSON: Hillary Clinton, as I've said many times, is the drunk party guest who won't go home, the cab's idling out front, and she's opening a new bottle of wine. And the hosts --What a feral cat is ok but not a drunk party guest?
BRZEZINSKI: Wow.
CARLSON: That's exactly right. And the hosts of the party, the press and the Democratic establishment, want her to go home, and she won't.
BRZEZINSKI: I -- you know what? Tucker --
BARNICLE: So we've gone from a cat to a drunk party guest.
BRZEZINSKI: I am sorry. I think that's just just too far. That's just not true.
BARNICLE: That's Tucker Carlson, ladies and gentlemen. What more is there to add? This goes on day after day and no one cares. At least someone finally admitted out loud that the press loves Obama.
BRZEZINSKI: Our love for Barack Obama? Tucker. I just, I--
CARLSON: Of course it's true.
BRZEZINSKI: Oh, come on.
CARLSON: Everybody in the press loves him. Mika you know that. Look into your heart, you know that's true.
BRZEZINSKI: All right, do the cat in the box thing just one more time before you go. Who's the cat in the box?
CARLSON: [Screeching cat noise]
Biden - Violence Against Women Act
September 13, 1994 (Emphasis added)
Say what you want about Joe Biden, he stands up for women. This is his Violence Against Women Act...signed into law by of all people...President Clinton.
The Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA) is a United States federal law. It was passed as Title IV, sec. 40001-40703 of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 HR 3355 and signed as Public Law 103-322 by President Bill Clinton on September 13, 1994.This one piece of legislation is more than Obama has done for women - though NARAL is certain his short (and changing) track record is enough. NARAL lost a lot of respect among women after endorsing Obama. He was going to be the eventual nominee - what's the rush? And why the morning after HRC's 40 point win in West Virginia? It was intentional and it was beyond wrong. Watch the giggling video by Ms Keenan - her eyes are glazed over like a preteen girl. Read her Huffington post blog.
It provided $1.6 billion to enhance investigation and prosecution of the violent crime perpetrated against women, increased pre-trial detention of the accused, provided for automatic and mandatory restitution of those convicted, and allowed civil redress in cases prosecutors chose to leave unprosecuted.
VAWA was drafted by Senator Joseph Biden's office with support from a number of advocacy organizations including Legal Momentum and The National Organization for Women, which heralded the bill as "the greatest breakthrough in civil rights for women in nearly two decades."
KEENAN: NARAL Pro-Choice America is unique in our ability to reach the crucial voting bloc of Republican and independent pro-choice women. These voters are essential to win the White House and we've seen that Obama can inspire them to vote for him in November.See video of the Messiah certain! HRC voters will vote for him.

"There's a black man stealing my show!"
Obama's church
Trinity United Church of Christ
Obama had already distanced himself from Wright on April 30th. Pfleger was in the audience at the time and had talked to Lynn Sweet - see video below. So Pfleger was well aware of what he was doing.
Father Pflegler was on Obama's Official Campaign's Catholics for America Advisory Committee - but supposedly not when he ranted on Senator Clinton this time. His previous hate-filled rant in March after Wright "stepped down" was probably why he himself "stepped down". Note that he was officially affiliated with Obama when he ranted from Obama's church pulpit that he'd "be damned is he was gonna sit back and let you tear down Louis Farrakhan and Reverend Jeremiah Wright! How dare you! How dare you!"
Here he mocks Sen Clinton and her "tears". He rages about white entitlement, white supremacy and racism all the while he's a white man from a privileged background and a supposed Catholic priest who was ordained to preach tolerance and love they neighbor. The black congregation is eating it up - just like all the other anti-white anti-american "sermons". It would make for great comedy except his words are filled with hate in the name of barack obama. Obama has known him longer than Wright but the MSM passed right over that. Axelrod has been making a documentary about Pflegler. They are all interconnected and not superficially. This is no coincidental cosmic happening. Especially since he's in Wright's pulpit. It was a planned performance to get in the limelight. The only question is why. To get back at obama for kicking him off the campaign? Put up to it by Wright? Rev Moss? The congregation which is clearly enjoying the hate just like all the other. This is a hate-filled environment and the thought of obama's children sitting there listening to it is sickening.

REV MOSS: He is our brother. He is none other than Father Micheal Pfleger. We welcome him once again.
[Once again as in he was raging in March about Rev Wright and Louis Farrakhan being attacked by the press.]
PFLEGER: "You must be honest to expose white entitlement and supremacy wherever it raises it head. I said this before--I really don't want to make this political because I'm very unpolitical [crowd laughs. He knew that what he was doing was wrong.]--Rev. Moss, when Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on, I really don't believe it was put on. I really believe that she just always thought, 'This is mine! I'm Bill's wife, I'm white, and this is mine! I just gotta get up and step into the plate.' And then out of nowhere came, 'Hey, I'm Barack Obama,' and she said, 'Oh, damn! Where did you come from? I'm white! I'm entitled! There's a black man stealing my show!' (Mocks tears) She wasn't the only one crying, there was a whole lot of white people crying! I'm sorry I don't want to get you in any trouble the live streaming just went out again."
REVEREND MOSS: "We thank God for the message, we thank God for the messenger, we thank God for Father Michael Pfleger."
Clearly Moss didn't think there was anything wrong with it either. Evil has been passed down. I can't imagine what it must be like to walk in there.
Sexist video: "Sexism Sells--But We're Not Buying It"
Women's Media Center decides to finally address sexism when Sen Clinton's voters had been trying to get someone to listen for months. Hillaryspeaksforme.com had the "Mad as Hell/Bitch" video site in April and it was also on You Tube. WMC came forward because it was a hot topic and it was safe to address it without hurting Obama. Pure political expedience.
2-8-08 Interesting quote from WMC President Ms Carol Jenkins:
The problem with the media's conventional wisdom is that it is collectively white and male—and in the new dynamic of this presidential race—archaic. The candidacies of Barack Obama, a black man, and Hillary Clinton, a woman, have exposed mainstream media for its fundamental flaw: it is exclusionary to the point of embarrassment.Who does she mention first? Right - the man. Ludicrous, innit? Racism over sexism.
5-20-08 WMC President Ms Carol Jenkins press release about video:
"We know that media companies today are under tremendous pressure to build audiences and drive ratings, but this type of vulgar, sexist commentary is not the way to do it. Women wield tremendous financial power in the United States. Our message to media companies: if you think that sexism sells, think again, because women in America are not buying it.What about Glenn Beck? He said: "It cried." It = Sen Clinton, as in a non-person. And if it were: "It cried." in reference to Mrs Obama? Beck would have been fired immediately. Beck's comments aren't even mentioned on the WMC site and he was not reprimanded. How quickly was Imus fired? What's the difference: "Nappy-headed 'ho" vs "Bros before hos". Sen Clinton = the 'ho. And the list goes on. Complete double standard. Race before gender - always.
"As our new video shows, the media's sexism is not specific to a candidate or campaign. But the presence of a woman, front and center at last on the national political stage, has sent shockwaves through a media grappling with ongoing problems of diversity. Hillary Clinton's campaign has cast a spotlight on the institutionalized sexism that The Women's Media Center was founded in 2005 to combat, providing us with a unique moment to examine ourselves and the media we consume. This is about the inherent and unnecessary obstacles that women face every day in speaking out and participating in the national dialogue."
"the reason she may be a front-runner is her husband messed around" (MSNBC's Morning Joe, January 9, 2008). Speaking for more than 15 million women across the United States, the coalition secured an on-air apology from Matthews, and assurances from NBC executives that steps were being taken to address the situation."
"Yet the situation persists, which is why The Women’s Media Center is taking this next step, releasing a video and launching an online petition campaign to allow women to speak out against this continuing sexism."
1-18-08 WMC Response to Chris Matthews/NBC "apology". An apology only matters when you realize you did something wrong and plan on changing. Matthews has continued on and no one--not WMC-- has held him accountable. He apologized only because he had to. How about Mika Brzezinski sitting next to Joe Scarborough ala Mrs Spitzer when he defended Matthews? And where's the continued battering of NBC? WMC included 27 incidents - many already highlighted on the "Mad as Hell" video. I'm sure Matthews himself has made that many comments in the interim.
Ms Carol Jenkins:
"The Women's Media Center appreciates Chris Matthews' public apology for his ill-conceived comments about Senator Clinton on January 9, 2008. We hope it serves as an illustration of the damaging effects of sexist language in our society, especially when it emanates from powerful media. WMC has protested to NBC in the past about incidents involving Matthews. The network's latest embarrassment, coming just as its Don Imus episode was fading, could have been avoided, if our concerns had been taken seriously from the beginning."The beginning? Of what? Time? It's a damn joke. Racism will always top sexism and for that reason sexism will always be dismissed. Blacks--male and female--can both rejoice in a black president. Gender doesn't matter. Carol Jenkins et al are a damn joke in my opinion. Much ado about themselves.
This whole election is a farce and our country needs a leader and none of the four qualify. History will prove who the most qualified was and how this election was a complete fraud.

FMO's Reinstatement petition
UPDATE: September 30, 2008
NorthByNorthwesterns' Alex Campbell and Chelsea Finger
Bienen wrote, "It is not Dr. Wright's views per se or the controversial nature of them that led us to rescind his invitation for an honorary degree. Rather, we want Commencement to be a focus on graduating students and their parents and families and we do not want Commencement overwhelmed by controversy."UPDATE: November 10
Wright & Ayers spoke at FMO sponsored event. Still no honorary degree. Wright behaved himself long enough for Barry to be elcted 44th President of the United States.
Racist code word: "They"
BYRON YORK:
I took in the Michelle Obama Show this week in Charlotte, N.C.
The wife of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) was in town for an election-eve get-out-the-vote rally, to make sure that Obama voters were fired up and ready to go for Tuesday's primary.
Usually, such events are rah-rah, go-team affairs. But Mrs. Obama's appearance was a little different.
It was an hour-long tale of resentment and anger.
First, she complained at great length that her husband had been treated unfairly in the Democratic presidential race. Every time he made a move forward, she said, "they" — she never spelled out exactly who "they" were — moved the goalposts a bit farther away from him.
First, "they" said he couldn't raise the money necessary to run a big-league campaign.
But "once he proved that he could raise the money, then all of a sudden money didn't matter," Mrs. Obama told the crowd. "Everybody said, 'Well, money isn't important.' "
Then "they" said the test for Obama would be whether he could build a political organization. But "once it was built, they said it's not an organization — the stakes changed again."
Next, "they" said Obama had to win Iowa. But "once he won Iowa, then all of a sudden Iowa was no longer important."
"They" had moved the bar again. This time, Obama had to win a primary state.
"Then we rolled into South Carolina," Mrs. Obama said. "Then you know what they said? They said South Carolina didn't count, because Barack was supposed to win."
Then came Super Tuesday, and after that Obama's stretch of victories in a series of primary and caucus states.
Still, Mrs. Obama complained, "they" tried to undermine her husband every step of the way.
"We've learned that we're still living in a time and in a nation where the bar is set, right?" she said.
"They tell you all you need to do is do these things and you'll get to the bar, so you go about the business of doing those things.
"You start working hard and sacrificing, and you think you're getting closer to the bar, you're working and you're struggling, you get right to that bar, you're reaching out for the bar, and then what happens?
"They raise the bar. Raise the bar. Shift it to the side. Keep it just out of reach.
"And that's just what's been happening in this race."
All the while, the crowd cheered as Mrs. Obama listed one supposed injustice after another.
Now, it should be noted that her husband was, at that moment, on the verge of a blowout victory in North Carolina, one that would spur new calls for his opponent to drop out of the race.
So you might have thought Michelle Obama would be a pretty happy camper.
Instead, you got the sense that she was angry that the Democratic Party did not, at some early point in the race, simply award her husband the nomination by acclamation.
Instead, he had to face an opponent who — get this — really wanted to win it for herself.
Mrs. Obama had lots of other complaints, too.
She's irritated at those people who have suggested that she and Sen. Obama are elitists.
And she appears to be still outraged — at this late date — by the fact that she had to take out loans to attend Princeton and Harvard Law School.
It took her years to pay them back, something she has kvetched about in numerous public appearances.
Imagine that! First she had to borrow money to go to some of the world's most selective and expensive schools — schools whose graduates usually do pretty well in the world — and then they made her pay it back.
There "they" go again.
If you're wondering how that negative message went across in Charlotte, the answer is, it went over very well.
This was as pro-Obama a crowd as you could find in a decidedly pro-Obama state.
So look for Mrs. Obama to continue sending out her message of dissatisfaction and resentment.
She appears to have begun the presidential race in an angry mood, and, despite her husband's extraordinary success, it looks like she'll finish it angry, too.

Micheal Moore: I'm disgusted with "Hillary"
Larry King
Micheal Moore is first disappointed with "Hillary" because she won't apologize for her decision on Iraq - like Kerry and Edwards since have. Were their constituents murdered? Was their state attacked and buildings and city destroyed because of the hate? Then he's disgusted because "Hillary" mentioned Farrakhan and Hamas. I wonder if he ever decided to investigate anything. Wasn't he supposed to be an investigative film maker? Now he's just obamerized. How embarrassed are all of Hollywood going to be when Obama refuses not to make a decisive action and something worse happens? God forbid. Will anyone ever admit publicly that they knew nothing about him?

NARAL endorses Obama
NARAL endorses Obama after Clinton wins by 40pts in West Virginia, displaying the madness that is obamerism.
Nancy Keenan's formal endorsement:
I am pleased to announce that today, NARAL Pro-Choice America's political action committee endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for president. I know that most of you are probably thinking, "Why did you decide to endorse Obama, and why are you doing it now?"
Sen. Obama has been a strong advocate for a woman's right to choose throughout his career in public service. Since joining the Senate in 2005, he has worked to unite Americans on both sides of this debate behind commonsense, common-ground ways to prevent unintended pregnancy. He supports legislation to provide our teens with comprehensive sex education, prevent pharmacies from denying women access to their legal birth-control prescriptions, and increase access for family-planning services.
Sen. Obama has said, "A woman's ability to decide how many children to have and when, without interference from the government, is one of the most fundamental rights we possess. It is not just an issue of choice, but equality and opportunity for all women."
Further, I believe Sen. Obama is going to be the Democratic nominee. He leads in pledged delegates, superdelegates, the popular vote, and cash-on-hand. As a former elected official, I know that having the three "m's" of a campaign - money, message and manpower (or womanpower!) - are how we win elections. Sen. Obama will be our next president.
Now, let's take a look at the opposition. Sen. McCain has been getting a free ride for far too long. As even Dan Balz says, until there is a head-to-head, McCain will continue on as the media-maverick darling. We must show voters how extreme McCain really is and contrast his record with that of Sen. Obama, the candidate for the pro-choice majority. NARAL Pro-Choice America is unique in our ability to reach the crucial voting bloc of Republican and independent pro-choice women. These voters are essential to win the White House and we've seen that Obama can inspire them to vote for him in November.
Finally, NARAL Pro-Choice America, as the political leader of the pro-choice movement, felt it was time to take a leadership role. We have been so fortunate to have two fully pro-choice candidates running for the Democratic nomination and to that end, we've consistently praised both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama for their leadership in standing up for women's reproductive rights. We continue to look forward to working with them in the future. But, for the sake of the reproductive-rights movement, we need to put any perceived differences behind us, and get to work putting Sen. Obama in the White House. We want to let women know that, no doubt about it, we have trust and confidence in Obama's ability and willingness to fight for a woman's right to choose. He's already proven himself in that regard.
We all know that America is a pro-choice nation, and whether you live in a red state or a blue state, whether you're young or you're old, whether you're black, latino, asian, or white, whether you are a man or a woman, we know that Sen. Obama will represent our interests well in the White House and make sure that reproductive choice is protected.
Sen. Obama is the leader who can unify Americans on both sides of our issue. He has reached new generations and energized young voters, independent voters, and Republican voters. He's the candidate of the future, and today we are proud to put the power of NARAL Pro-Choice America's one million strong members, activists and supporters behind Sen. Barack Obama.

Gaffe of the day: "57 States"
Beaverton, Oregon
Obama says he visited 57 states. How can a politician--let alone one for president--not know how many states there are? He says one state to go and Alaska and Hawaii he couldn't go because "his staff wouldn't justify it". What about the staff he sent to Guam? What about his tour of the world? So was that the 60 states? France, Germany, UK, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Syria--his campaign fundraiser pal Tony "boneheaded mistake" Rezko's birthplace--and the Palestinian territories. He did make it to Hawaii when he needed to hide out when the Edwards' story broke. Are there people in this country who don't believe the MSM has done/will do anything to help Obama win?

Quote of the day: "If my aunt had a male appendage, she'd by my uncle."

Lanny Davis gets ridiculed on proobama CNN
Indiana primary
CNN had no Clinton supporter on the panel. They talked to Paul Begala (nastily) and they let Lanny Davis wait and then never got back to him after Sen Clinton's speech. They all laugh and think it's funny like a bunch of sixth graders pulling a fast one. CNN stood behind their coverage saying it was fair to both candidates. I had forgotten how one-sided CNN really was. This election is a joke.
Notable quotes:
John King: "I don't have a horse in this race."
Jamal Simmons: "If my aunt had a male appendage - she'd by my uncle."

Lanny Davis is one sweet man and someone I would like to have in my corner.

Castellanos: "It's time to take the family dog to the vet"
May 6, 2008
CNN
Indiana Primary
Donna Brazile, Wolf Blitzer and Alex Castellanos (GOP) among others are sitting on their primary night panels. Not a single Hillary person is there. Later they totally disrespect Lanny Watkins by making him wait and they never went back to him after Sen Clitnon's victory speech.
Castellanos is a pig. Period. He is a sexist maximus. Here is refers to Sen Clinton as the family dog. His way of saying she needs to get out of the race is to compare her to the family dog who needs to be put out of its misery.
CASTELLANOS: The Clintons have incited such emotions in Republicans over the years, that you get Republicans who, any chance they get to vote against a Clinton may do so. And then on the other side, you also have some Republicans who I think have found something in Barack Obama's transformational message. You know, we can be better than we are. We can all come together and do something. So I don't think it's just strategic voting that Republicans want to cause chaos in the Democratic Party. This is democracy at work.
BLITZER: You think it's going to be a split decision tonight?
BRAZILE: I think so. Based on the early polls and also based on the fact that I think Senator Clinton has tremendous support in Indiana. I mean, people talk about the northwest corridor, Gary, Indiana.
BLITZER: Basically a suburb of Chicago.
And an easy extension of the Daley Machine. The returns came back after midnight after CNN started to make comments. 11K absentee ballots appeared. High school kids were high jacked from school and told how to vote. Will anything ever happen? Nope.
BRAZILE: But she has a former governor, Evan Bayh. He's an institution in Indiana, like Ed Rendell in the state of Pennsylvania. She also has -- the governor of North Carolina came up.
So I don't write Hillary Clinton off. I've never written her off. I didn't write her off in New Hampshire, I won't write her off tonight.
That is a complete and utter lie. An how many times has she said that Hillary should just get out.
BRAZILE: But I also believe that this is Obama's moment to show that he cannot only stand against all of the things that's come against him, but he can also rise again.
BLITZER: He's going to be here in a few minutes, Evan Bayh. We'll speak to him. Split decision, what does that say to you? What happens next? We wait next week for West Virginia?
CASTELLANOS: We wait again. Well, I think it puts the Democrats on the spot, because what that means at some point geometry won't change. Barack Obama, it's still his. They'd have to take it away from him at the convention.
I don't think the Democratic Party is going to let that happen. So they're going to have to take the family dog to the vet.
He just referred to Sen Clinton as the family dog and the need to kill her so barry can win. Nobody even reacts. Nobody sees anything wrong with it because there is no one there to speak of for Sen Clinton. And they defended themselves saying it was fair coverage. Oh what a world it will be when barry gets exposed.
CASTELLANOS: It's not something we want to do. The Democrats love the Clintons. But the time has come after June 3 and the last primary, somebody is going to have to sit them down and say this has got to end.
BLITZER: But the math favors her, apparently, in West Virginia next Tuesday, a week from today. Based on the polls there.
BRAZILE: Barack Obama is about 276 delegates short, 136 delegates will put him in the lead in terms of earned delegates. So I don't know if it's about the math. It's about the psychology.
BLITZER: No, I'm just talking about West Virginia, if she were to pull out a win next Tuesday in West Virginia.
BRAZILE: She can win the remaining eight primaries, but the math is the math. And again, if you want to change the subject to psychology, that's a whole different topic. But right now the math still matters in terms of who wins the nomination.
CASTELLANOS: The last six big primaries coming up after this, none of them have over 10 percent black vote, unlike North Carolina in which it's 40 percent or so. So they're not good for Barack Obama, but it does not matter. It's not enough for Hillary Clinton.
BRAZILE: Well, if you go by that, Barack Obama would not even be in this position, because African-Americans make up 12 percent of the population. And yes, there's an overwhelming number of African- Americans in some states, but let's give the voters in Iowa and all the other states that have voted for Obama some credit, because they voted for the candidate of their choice.
Funny how her comments change. What about all those bitter white racists in Pennsylvania and Appalachia?
BLITZER: We give all these voters a lot of credit, guys.
BRAZILE: I love them all.
BLITZER: We'll see you later. Thanks very much.
